The Island Escape ship is certainly not disabled freindly. Special Assistance certainly does not apply. We found it extreamly difficult trying to juggle cases and a wheelchair. No one wanted to help and would rather walk in the opposite direction than help you.
The Coaches were extreamly difficult as well, although they will sell you a tour as suitable for disabled. You had to fight to get a first row seat as other more able passengers would rather sit there and let you struggle than give t ...

from the moment we arrived Island Escape staff could not have done more for us..............cabin staff wxcellent, room always tidy..........food wonderful, dined in 3 restuarants, preferred Oasis and booked table for 5 out of 7 nights........yes, there is a cover charge but well worth it.
We returned home today and have already booked to go back next year.

As a first time cruiser found it a great experience and would recommend it to all. In the past some reviews were rather sad for the Island Escape ship, i went away for a two week cruise around the Med in April this year (2009) and i loved every minute of it. There were one or two tiny issues, but nothing that spoilt the holiday. The onboard entertainment was first class, NOTHING like Butlins as was said in a previous review which was dated 2006. The acts were stunning, the costumes amazing, and ...

Island Cruises, Island Escape was my first cruise, in April this year (2009) and i loved it from the word go! I had read some disturbing reviews but they were mostly from 2006. I have no regrets the cruise was great. The staff were 100% helpful, friendly and polite. No communication problem with any of them even though there are some 50 nationalities represented in the crew. They were far more helpful than any staf i have come across on other holidays. Nothing was too much trouble.
The cabins t ...

just returned from 14 days Venetian cruise with Island Cruises. very enjoyable crew very friendly and efficient, entertainment top class food was good and plentiful
ports ideal; being smaller vessel meant we could moor nearer to city centres than larger ships
Felt that the ship itself whilst being clean and confortable was looking tired in places abd in need of refit
last minute alteration of itenery, only 1 night in Venice was dissapointing . find it hard to belive that reason given was ...

Everything about the Island Escape cruise was wonderfull from food the staff. You dont even have to move to get a drink as the waiters come to your table. (we were all inclusive) This included Pop,Spirits,a choice of 2 cocktails per day and largers all good quality.
We were a party of 7. We had 3 cabins, one standard balcony, one outside delux with window and the best room on ship 9566 the island grand suite. All rooms were very clean with linen change every day and bed made and clean towels mad ...

We booked 1 inside and 1 outside cabin on deck 9 with Island Cruises, Island Escape, cabins nice and clean and adequate for what we needed. Safe cost £14 for week plus £10 which you get back once you had the key in at the end of the holiday.
Every evening you are provided with a news letter which even tells you what you can do on your own in each port.
Drinks reasonable " A pint of larger was £2.90, glass of red wine £2. 45, soft drinks £1.45, cocktails &p ...

I am a keen cruise lover, I had been on 6 island cruises before and I have just came back from Island cruise on 7th april 2009. I will NEVER go on one again! For the whole week I suffered stomach cramps and severe illness, I couldn't eat and it was a nightmare, not only this but the nurse I saw said it was food poisoning and yet they still charged me £110 for medical fees even though I contracted it on board. Not only this but the plumbing wasn't working the toilets wouldn't flush and wat ...

I love the Island Escape on the Island Cruises. I have even made friends on it. I think it's good value for money and perfect if its your first holiday abroad. The island cruise ship has very friendly staff that were, bubbly and happy. They have teenage club for older kids, and younger clubs too.

I was a little worried as I had heard some bad reviews but once on board the staff were friendly and everything is about Fun. It is not a huge shop on board but can compensate by shopping on the islands that you visit. The spa and salon looked lovely, yet I didn't use it. Although I did not go as a family everything looked fun.

Med Cruise 4th Nov to 18th Nov 08The ship is old and very tired and should either have a complete overhaul, or possibly be used again as a car ferry. There were six in our party and we all had balcony rooms, we were disappointed in the quality of these rooms and the size of the balconies. The shore excursions were poor value for money, and any complaints were not followed up as promised, On a plus side the staff made up a lot for the deficiencies of the ship, Cabin stewards, (especially the guy ...

Any review is by nature a subjective one but I will try and be objective as well. I have just returned from a cruise in the Med. It was fantastic value for money. Service on board could not have been bettered had you paid vast prices for a fancy cruise. From talking to our fellow travellers this seemed to be the consensus of opinion. Inevitably there were those who found fault we were after all nearly 100% pensioners on board and there were the small number of born again moaners. The catering wa ...

This was our first cruise and we booked a top line cabin on deck 9 (9584) with balcony. On arrival no toilet was working and we had no water this took the 1st week of our cruise to put right and it still broke down again the second week, our special cruise was spoiled. The staff and food were great and we met some really nice people but the ship needs to be completely overhauled. We will cruise again but not on this ship unless Thompson really make things better.

Leaving the boat was the only good point!!! The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. Dirty room(s), - four in total that I saw, mold and mildew in the port holes so could not see out of them, 25 watt lights in the bed rooms. Please check out on a google search - Island Escape and Car ferry - the results are interestin!!
