I always look at reviews and if just one of the scores is bad I always think to myself, "there's always one"! well this time its me. My cabin was well past its sell by date, with broken shower screen, a toilet that flushed when it wanted to, a light that stayed on all night and the dirtiest window I've ever seen. I complained nicely and the majority was repaired, but why did I have to complain the cabin stewards are in there daily surely they noticed! On the day at sea the whole ship appears cramped. The Island Escape is a VERY tired ship and wants a full refit.Beware the all inclusive, its an alcohol drinks package, coffee from the coffee shop and water are chargable. The saving grace has to be the staff who work their butts off. Food is also good.

This was my second cruise this year. In comparison to the Thomson Destiny (June 09) the Island Escape scores well on several points over the Destiny. All the staff were much more friendly, having time for a chat, in a relaxed manner. The officers mananaged their staff without the them feeling intimidated. The IE food was marginally better, ommletes and pasta dishes made to order in the beachcomber buffet, themed cuisine, sandwich station, Ice Cream.
The IE was let down by the amount of public a ...

It was my 1st cruise so didnt know what to expect. I found the staff so friendly and the housekeeping staff were amazing, it was so nice going back to our rooms of an evening to see what animal had been made from the towels. The shows were brilliant far exceeding my expectations and the Cruise Director Mike Gibbon's was brilliant, so many people who had been on the cruise for years say he is the best one they have had on this ship. I loved the singing and the dancers were amazing. The food wa ...

Have just returned from 14 nights cruise. Although a little tired the ship was very clean, great food and staff. Entertainment really good. Thank you Dan for 2 different Captain impersonations. Cabin stewards really good. Do try the A la Carte restaurant. Tours very good especially Rome by Express train and Florence/Pisa.

This was our first cruise. The food and entertainment were excellent, and the staff were the most friendly that I have ever seen. They were also doing tricks at your table making you feel at home.

Also the tours on offer were excellent, especially to Rome on the Express train.

I would definately recommend booking this cruise.

We have just returned from a fabulous week aboard the Island Escape. The staff were the friendliest and most attentive we have ever come across, and the shows and entertainment team worked tirelessly to make sure that their was something for everyone. The food was outstanding, no one could possibly say that their wasn't something to suit everyones taste buds - and the quantity, well everyone was loosening their belts by the end of the week.
The all-inclusive drinks option was a real blessing, ...

Island Escape is the first cruise I have been on and I have not been put off. The food was excellent and very varied. The crew were always friendly and helpful. The evening entertainers were talented, with good singers and dancers. Daytime entertainment around pool was more like Butlins/Pontins but it depends on what you like. Didn't use pool as it was overrun by older children jumping and diving in. 6 year old son enjoyed kids club and smaller pool. The rooms were clean as was the rest of the ...

We have enjoyed at least 6 Thomson Cruises over the last few years cruising on the Emerald, Calypso, Celebration, Topaz, so we thought we would try The Island Escape which is now owned by Thomson, but our cabin was definitely not up to Thomson standards. We paid extra for an upgrade to premier cabin which was a good size, twin beds, plenty of drawers and wardrobes, dressing table, chair, coffee table and large window (view was obstructed, but we had been advised of this and it wasn't a problem) ...

1st time on a cruise, it was a fantastic experience, not just the the Island Escape its self - the staff were brilliant, the room cleaners, the enterainers, all of the resturant staff etc etc. They all made the 1st time cruise experience very special - we wern't just a room number in a hotel. All of the staff work so hard to make it a holiday to remember, this goes from the professional organisation of first getting on board, the staff could not do enough for you. The organised trips were very go ...

I had an amazing time on board the island escape, my daughter made loads of friends, the food and entertainment was great, it was the closest i had ever been treated to royalty, the staff are very helpful, I'm rather disappointed as i bought hair straighteners of the ship and they said they would get delivered in 2 weeks, but its now past that, but one amazing holiday!

Island Escape was an excelent cruise , the food was good and the entertainment was top class, there was a laid back athmosphere and the staff were polite and helpful. We previously cruised on the Thompson Destiny which was also very good but I would rate the Island Escape a little better. It is our intention to book again for next year on a different itenary. The ship was kept very clean by the staff who worked extremely hard to make our holiday most enjoyable

As I had already been on the Island Escape before I know what it was like, so I wanted my husband to experience cruising as a relaxing holiday. We both enjoyed the experience even though we did have some rough weather. The inside cabin we were slightly disappointed with and the ship itself does need updating but as for the quality of the food and entertainment you could not get it you paid thousands of pounds for. The only thing I was disappointed with was the spa, unfortunately the staff wer ...

IST Cruise for us,firstly our luggage did not arrive until just before ship departed , the staff were very friendly and very helpful after that cruise went onwards and upwards staff all very friendly, bar staff very friendly and the captain very nice as well, cabin lady making a fresh animal out of towels every day, this was a really nice touch. The shows ist class and as another review says the costumes were first class, the trips were a little expensive as far as we were concerned but we went ...

Island Escape cruise that we were on from the 5th May 2009 to the 12th May 2009. I know it has taken me so long to write this review but I needed to calm down from this nightmare. We have done a Thomson cruise every year since 2004, but this will be the last one which is a real shame as we had been enjoying them.

We were placed on deck 5. Our neighbours were extremely noisy. We must have complained six times to the Guest Relations and all they did was send the security man 3 times to our knowle ...

Don't listen to the moaners on this review page. We are just back from a week on the Island Escape and we all loved it so much have booked again for next year - my 8 year old was crying the day we left and has his bag ready for next year!! So the ship may need modernising in the cabibs and pool are but so what. The crew are amazing, nothing is too much and they all are so friendly. The trips are great, the kid's club is wonderful, food is amazing and the cocktails wonderful! We cannot wait for s ...

The Island Escape ship is certainly not disabled freindly. Special Assistance certainly does not apply. We found it extreamly difficult trying to juggle cases and a wheelchair. No one wanted to help and would rather walk in the opposite direction than help you.

The Coaches were extreamly difficult as well, although they will sell you a tour as suitable for disabled. You had to fight to get a first row seat as other more able passengers would rather sit there and let you struggle than give t ...
