“What i think of this saxophone. ”

★★★★☆

written by on 25/08/2011

I've been playing this saxophone for quite a while. i got it when im an intrermediate level. i thought it sucks because jupiter is mostly for student models or beginners. im a student by the way. i look for reviews about this saxophone all the time just to c if its gd. then i realized tht it doesnt matter. it matters to ur skills. of course u need a gd saxophone and jupiter is an acceptable one if ur a student like 12-17. but if ur professinal, i suggest a selmer or yamaha one. over all i think this saxophone is good for beginners and intermediate players and is worth the buy. u just need a gd mouth piece and reed too, and of course skills. hope this review was useful

As you stated, you are obviously a beginner. I wish you would give a little thought to your comments such as this posted above. Your information is incorrect - especially for those considering to purchase from the vast array of different brands available today. If I put that such-and-such a brand was 'no good'....then it is just my opinion only.....and more than likely, an incorrect statement.....due to bias....or a host of other reason. Jupiter make some top-of-the-line instruments. I have been playing for a lifetime, own just about every brand on the market ( not a boast....they are nothing more than 'tools of trade' and may I say I do rate Jupiter very highly indeed. To say brand 'X' is better, must be backed with a few valid reasons, and of course, brand 'X' must be in the SAME price bracket as the brand with which you are making the comparison! So many people tend to compare apples with oranges. I personally would say the Jupiter 511SE flute for example is one of the best student instruments on the market. My reasoning is: It has a solid silver chimney, a split E and under prices and out features the comparable Yamaha. It is not a better instrument.....just under prices and out features! Likewise the Jupiter 567GL Alto sax is a superb student instrument which really does 'cross-over' into the professional world. It really does sound 'warmer' than it's Yamaha rival and once again, out features the Yamaha while coming in at less $'s. I have a Jupiter 769GL sax and it is truly a 'diamond' of an instrument and more than capable of 'delivering' in the world of professional musicians. For those considering purchasing a brass or wind instrument....please, be careful when reading half-bake reviews by those with little knowledge and experience.

whereas the two both comments both have value vand i am sure were both meant with best interests of all at heart .. however i must add ,that we cannot all afford every sax on the market so it is realy important ot be able to get this kind of feedback yes ,i am sure that the jupiter can hold its own ,,yet i was fortunate to get hold f a YTS 62 at a very good price -considering its near mint condition and will add that it has helped my playing to progress worlds due to its greater ease of playability [ergonomics?] i hav now played on at least a dzen differrent saxes including the yani 901 and various selmers ihad a few disapiontments too such inspite of carefully reading 12 years of review on sax forum regarding a well rated chinese horn the truth comes out in the wash so i say find a reputable dealer and if you can afford a good tutor let them guide you as to your choice most of the good dealers will let you blow on quite a few saxes to help you decide for yourself

“i got this sax a year ago. overall the sonud and key...”

i got this sax a year ago. overall the sonud and key is still very good. however the sliver look... sigh.. once it start rusting is impositble to clean. the silver planing started to turn yellow/goldish, if you don't clean it the rust will get into the sax and u can't.

come let be true to ourself. the only reason we pick this sax is because of it sexy look..... if we but that aside there are MANY other sax that work better for teh same price.
when i saw it rusting my hart was bleeding

“Good sound and intonation for a cheap instrument. ...”

Good sound and intonation for a cheap instrument. Seems technically fairly robust, although the neck octave key seems a little flimsy (I've had more than one pupil manage to bend it, causing problems in second octave).

Jupiter 565 GL alto - Mine looks good as I bought it brand new, but I think sometimes the authenticity of the older ones is more apparent.
