Fast as you like. The Volkswagen Golf VR6 is very very reliable. It looks amazing and drives just as well! Easy to get parts for even for a 16 year old car! (In my case)
If something does go wrong then the cost can be quite bad if you go to a VW dealer. Gas guzzler.
Overall and amazing car and if I think I'll drive this one to death. If this one died on me then I wouldn't think twice about buying another.

1995 M reg 2.9 model. Had the car for 6 months or so. Paid £900 with no MOT. Took a gamble and have been chuffed to bits since. Car now owes me about £2000 including all mods. I just love driving this car. Its quick, holds the road, (although the torque steer can be edgy) and is always effortless on motorways or backroads. it always entertain. A must try for all hot hatch lovers.

You havent grown up without owning a VR6, its like a introduction to sports cars. I drive my car everywhere, Its not as bad as everyone makes it sound. I drive my car on weekends and no words can describe how good it really is.
Buy one, they are cheaper than buying a M3, SL or some group 17 -20 car, only difference is price and perhaps no sat nav.
Who needs that when you can pick up a VR6 Highline for £2000

Can anyone shed any light on the automatic gearboxes? i have owned two manuals and i love them but i have been offered an auto cheap and finding it hard to refuse, it is otherwise fully loaded.obviously it wont be as much fun, just want to know what the box is like to drive?

The VW Golf VR6 is quick, and cheaper than most Sports hatchback you can buy nowadays.
I tend to overtake rather be overtaken. That says it all!
Definetly buy one. I have a BMW M3 and decided to buy a VR6 for my run around. Trust me its worth it.

I like the whole VW Golf, it's a master and a classic in it's own leuge, cant compare it, it's a roaring lion when on the road, my moto : VR6 you cant ignore!
I would do anything to have one like that, never to be sold, no matter how high the price that is being offered...

I have owned my VR6 for only a short period of time but I have fallen inl ove with it. Black 5 door, twin headlamp conversion, decked on a set of 17" Wolfrace Koyoto's, induction kit, up-rated fuel regulator and re-mapped it truly is the dog big dangleys. Wouldn't trade it for anything in the world, had 150 out of it and she still had some pull in her. V Dub all the way, why would you want a piece of jap stuff when you can have some euro muscle?

I personally think from reading all these comments that you lot have way too much cash spare and don't forget a car is only quick if you can drive it properly. My VR6 is chipped, cammed has an induction kit and it's a Golf and you're right, the suspension is rubbish but a set of Konis or something like that sorts this out and uprated anti roll bars help. I have a full Remus exhaust system I bought all of this stuff because I like it. I get the feeling some of the other people making these commen ...

I've owned my golf3 VR6 for almost 2years now with no engine/gearbox hassles. I had to replace most of the major electrical parts though which proved to be quite costly:

    HT-Leads
    Airflow-Meter
    Crank-Angle-Sensor
    Coolant-Temp-Sensor
    etc....

The great thing about VR6 is its torque, not the horsepower.

Just been reading some reviews on here, the Volkswagen Golf VR6 is getting a little long in the tooth these days but lets not get silly, it still holds it's own. Slower than a lot of modern hatchbacks? or a high performance TDi? I think you must be talking about a different car! Volkswagen Flagship, faster than the model that replaced it due to the lack of good running gear, aka 4x4. I'd buy an r32 in a flash because I'd stand a chance of keeping it on the road without breaking my arm. I've not ...

My friend just bought a mk5 GTI - beautiful, 200 bhp, black with nice alloys and interior, BUT it does not look like a Golf should - it's an A3 with a VW badge. It costs £20,000 pounds and by the time he has paid it off - the mk3 will be just as valuable with all the depreciation these new cars experience. Look at the tail lights of the new Golf - poor asthetics. Anyway, if I won a new Golf mk5 GTI, I would be happy, but I would sell it straight away and get a later vr6 for £4000 wi ...

The Volkswagen Golf VR6 is a super dynamic car, which even Superman would have fun driving. Lovely Purple leather which is classic with the aubergine exterior.
It's got more gadgets than a Lexus, heated seats, onboard computer, digital radio, excellent alarm kit which shuts all windows, including sunroof!

The Volkswagen Golf VR6 I bought my brother owned from new so I watched him chuck money at it for almost 9 years before he bought a next to new M3. I'd always loved the car so took his hand off when it came up. Twin headlamp conversion, BBS 17's, full s/s exhaust, air filter and VW body kit. I've read that get an up rated ECU increases power to 215bhp whether or not this is actually true or I don't think it can be but it feels like it! I haven't driven a standard VR6 but know people who've had t ...

The Volkswagen Golf VR6 is one of the only car's I've bought that I wasn't looking to buy it just so happened my brother had his 5 year old one he had owned from new for sale and my Astra GTe16v was getting on a bit I knew the car was a low mileage gem and came with a full VW body kit, massive bbs alloys and an excellent uprated sound system. It was perfect well it would have been if I could have afforded to keep it. As within a couple of months I knew I couldn't run a car doing only 23mph for v ...
