just found out Bassett's jelly babies have bovine gelatine in them and therefore will not be buying them again and will be pointing this out to everyone I know.

I must have missed the polite ( and should be obligatory! ) press release telling consumers that they were no longer vegetarian friendly.

Now I have a bag in the cupboard which I wil probably chuck in the bin if I can't get a refund. Bought for ca. 68p from Lidl. July 2009.

    Not a happy customer.

Despite the rather handsome and somewhat macho exterior, the Bassetts Liquorice Allsorts taste was a bitterly disappointing, foul experience. It lacked any signs of real flavour, it was like chewing a piece of galvanised rubber that had been laced with coal. As i continued to munch this revolting treat i felt a soft black liquid ooze from my between my lips, this was the final straw. In sheer haste and resentment i spat out my berty basset vowing never to eat one again.

I used to love them but being a vegetarian will no longer eat them. The have "Bovine geletine" is "cow"

Why can they not be made as many other sweets are with an alternantive geletine, which many are now. Not suitable for vegaeterians yet the Liqurice is healthy I have found other makes!

I do not have many good points about Bassetts Liquorice Allsorts, one liquorice man in the pack!

Dry, very few good allsorts like their use to be. Where is all the coconut gone from around the sweets? I have been eating them for 50 years and this packet will be my last.

As I said about very disappointed with them this time well last time in fact but I bought them from a petrol station and thought it was because they had not had them in a while.

A treat that takes me back to my childhood in Scotland and god times spent with my father.

What happened to the origianl berty bassett, the liquorice replacement is a poor substitue, totally disappointed.

    BRING BACK BERTY BASSETT.

Something of an acquired taste, Liquorice Allsorts may not be for all. However the Bassetts version remain the best out of all the own-brand imitators on the market. Some of the sweets are deliciously strong and others subtly sweet, my favourites remain the pink and blue candy covered ones. Young children may not like the very overwhelming taste of liquorice but for more adventrous people, they will prove a yummy treat.
