Good Points: Hotel Not Submerged In Lava

Bad Points: The Unbelievably Grouchy Staff

General comments: I have never stayed in a hotel where the staff were as unfriendly and rude as I found them to be at the Jardin del Mar. Upon arrival we were greeted with a 'What the hell do you want' demeanour, as if we were uninvited intruders upsetting their daily routine. No please or thank yous or so much as a smile during our entire stay.

One night we returned to the hotel and we were asked for our room numbers. The man at the desk took down the time and I simply asked why he had done so. 'Evidence!' he snapped. Another night we returned to the hotel and one of my friends burst out laughing upon hearing a joke. 'Shhhhhh!' the Victor Meldrewesque crone behind the desk scolded loudly, a look of utter contempt on his face. If we were being too loud (which we were not, my friend merely laughed as we made our way to our rooms!) he could have asked us politely to keep it down like any half decent receptionist worth their salt. Another such night my friend was yelled at and told to leave the hotel because he had made a shushing sound on walking passed the desk in mockery of the man's ludicrous behaviour the night before.

On our last night we asked the same man if we could pay to stay in our rooms a little later than the 12 o'clock check out time, to which he snapped 'No! 12 o'clock out!'. We asked another more obliging staff member again in the morning and they told us it would be no problem at all.

The hotel itself is clean and comfortable but that counts for nothing when it is staffed by such downright inhospitable people perplexingly filling positions in the hospitality trade. I'd go as far as to say the hotel should do itself a favour and sack one or two of their reception staff, and give their jobs to people who actually like people. I give it a rating of Awful, entirely because of the behaviour of the staff. Unexeptable.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The room comfortably slept 3 people. The apartment was cleaned everyday expect the maids days off (Sunday and Tues). A short walk to the square, where there's great entertainment and also a short distance to the main nightlife. The taxi rank is literally across the road, with friendly taxi drivers and good fares. I enjoyed my stay and I know my friends did as well, I would definitely stay again. The sunbeds around the pool went very quickly, if your not there ...

Because of the location of this hotel I would stay there again. They need to upgrade the accommodation to cater for the amount of people staying in each apartment. We had a camera and a PSP smashed in the safe by the corner of the safe door and management refused to give us a report for the insurance company.

All in all, a very nice place, would go again!

Staff at the front desk are really lovely! The rooms are nice, maid came everyday except days off! Beach around 15min walk away. The hotel is located right next to the square! We had a side room, view wasn't amazing but the balcony was still a nice place to relax.

The Jardin Del Mar is ideal for short winter break. Well kept, nice pool area, friendly staff, central location, lovely indoor heated pool, apartments small. Good standard of food. Two lifts, one out of order. good standard of food.

This is a fantastic hotel! I love it! My partner and I have stayed there many times. The staff are great, and the rooms are clean. I recommend a visit to the perfume shop in the town centre. It is near a shop that sells Japanese pictures.

I would recommend the Jardin Del Mar in Santa Ponsa to anyone.

I was a bit disappointed with our holiday rep as we didn't see one from the time we got on the coach until the time we reached the airport. Thankfully the receptionists were on hand to answer any questions we had. The resort is very family orientated. I went with my partner but it was nice for us to see children there and we had no problems with that. Would recommend this holiday and would go again and would love to stay at the same apartments.

The Jardin Del Mar is one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in, its location is fantastic as it's a stones throw from all the lovely restaurants and gift shops.
The evening entertainment in Santa Ponsa is great, especially if you visit "the square", where there's outdoor entertainment every night.
There's a taxi rank and Bowling Alley about 30feet down the road.
If you go self catering as me and my partner did, the super store is less than a minutes walk so it's really handy.

Santa Ponsa was lovely. Great food choice and lovely restaraunts. The nightlife was good but take a trip to mallaluf for a really lively nite. The beach was not that clean. Easy access to waterparks etc. As there is only one strip of pubs you could be bored after the first week but the alchohol is cheapand so is the food so you'll be okay. If you do go enjoy yourself.
