Good Points: The packaging looks snazzy, I guess.
Bad Points: The sweet, which is the point of it, does not deliver. It does not taste like the original, they have some foul taste mixed in which makes them taste like cheap knockoffs. If it wasn't sold in a normal store I would've believed so, too.
General comments: I remember picking up a packet today to relive the fond memories of these great sweets. Upon biting the first one I immediately noticed the off taste. Bassetts Refreshers just do not taste right. I'm getting sick of sweets altering recipes to use 'natural' ingredients when all they do is destroy the flavor, which is the POINT of buying them in the first place! If I want all natural I wouldn't be eating sweets in the first place.
I'm not sure if I'll ever look at a pack of Refreshers in the same way again. Seems these complaints are all in 2008 which makes me think that they didn't change the recipe :/
At least I still have my Atomic Sourballs...

Bassetts Refreshers were my favourite sweets and for ages I couldn't find them in the shops. I was so excited to see them back on the shelves, but that soon turned to disappointment once I tasted them. I like the packaging, but thats about it. PLEASE BRING BACK THE PROPER REFRESHERS.

Bassetts Refreshers are flipping awful... what are they thinking? You don't mess with success and Barratt's just destroyed my childhood favorite. Yuck. If they want to make "natural" refreshers why didn't they just name them something else and leave the originals alone. BRING BACK MY REFRESHERS!!!

Chalk up another vote to bring back old refreshers! I am so disappointed in the new flavor that I googled "refreshers different taste" and found this long list of similarly minded sweets fans. They are perfumey and not nearly as fizzy! Yuck!

I used to love Refreshers, but they seem to have taken something out because now instead of the nice unique Refreshers taste, they taste like chalky winegums, and they all taste the same instead of having different flavours. Possibly they've taken out additives because they are 'bad' for you. I'd rather they put them back in.

I completely agree with the majority of the reviews here about the new Natural Refreshers. I think they are horrible! I've also been addicted to these yummy childhood favourites and after spending a year in Australia, I was looking forward to my first taste of goodness, but instead all I could find was these impostors! Bring back the old refreshers!!

I was shocked! I don't buy Refreshers often but have enjoyed them for many years. If I cannot get original flavour I will not be buying Refreshers; simple as that!

I think the only thing that can be considered good about the new recipe refreshers is the packaging. What is inside however is a terrible disappointment. I actually wrote to the manufacturer to express my disappointment. Bring back the old style refreshers, these new ones taste vile and far too crunchy for my liking.

Refreshers have been my favourite sweet since I was a child (now 38). I have been addicted to refreshers (2-5 rolls per day) and love the fruity taste and the chalky texture. I think the new 'natural' recipe is horrible and disgusting, I have tried to like them but they have a funny taste and do not even taste as good as Love Hearts. Surely Barratts did not test the new recipe on Refreshers lovers, I will be surprised if the new 'natural' recipe sells as well as the original. I stocked up on the ...

Refreshers have been my favourite sweet since I was a child (now 38) I was completely addicted to them (2-5 rolls per day). I think the new 'natural' recipe is horrible. They do not taste as fruity and they are hard and not as fizzy, they do not even taste as good as Love Hearts or Fizzers. I stocked up on the old ones but have almost run out. I don't know who Bassetts tested the new recipe on but surely it wasn't Refreshers lovers? I think that Bassetts have made a mistake and will see their sa ...

My 4 year old grandson adores refreshers until last week when I gave him a pack and his response was 'I don't like these nasty sweets Nanny I want my nice ones'. I had took no notice of the new packaging believing the sweets would taste the same he will not eat them at all and I have exhausted my only supplier of the old ones. Please Please bring back the old ones by all means keep the wrapper but go back to the old recipe in order to make a little boy happy!

I think the new Refreshers are foul - what does this company think they are doing? Disgusting, hard, bitter - bring back the lovely 'eat a whole packet in three seconds' version NOW!

I just knew there had to be other Refreshers-lovers out there who share my opinion of the travesty visited upon us in the shape of these new foil-wrapped tubes parading themselves as our beloved sweets.
Refreshers are a tradition we grew up on. We like them as they were, that's why we've stuck with them over the decades.
What justification is there for the new ones???

I have been a refresher's addict since I was 14 (now 41). Have weaned myself down from a 5 pack a day habit to two packs a day. Usually buy the 5 roll packs in Morrisons, but recently they have been sold out. Today bought one in the new packaging and have just tasted. My long addiction may be over, I'm afraid, as these are just not the nice soft fizzy sweets I'm used to. I used to eat a whole roll at a time, colour ordered! I enjoyed the taste of the different colours of the old refreshers, ...

Hi everyone sorry to correct some of you but you may be delighted to be reminded that they are actually called barratt and not bassetts. The originals are excellent I have stocked up just in case I do not see them again. I just cannot get enough I prefer them over choccies any day of the week especially the yellow and green as they are soft and then the pink for subtle contrast in flavour. The smell as you open the packet is devine and they pastel colours melt your heart and bring you back to yo ...
