“I bought a computer base unit from Armada Computers...”

written by sandiefaulkner on 04/02/2005

I bought a computer base unit from Armada Computers Ltd. It was of very high quality and I was amazed at what I paid for it. On top of this I also got "1 yr on-site warranty". I could not believe it as most companies only provide "return to base" warranty. Delivery was also on time. Service from staff is first class and I wish I had found this company years ago. Many Thanks to Armada.

“Like most people, I spent a fair amount of time...”

written by PCBuyer on 11/12/2004

Like most people, I spent a fair amount of time researching retailer reputations before buying from Armada Computers Ltd. (www.armadacomputers.co.uk) (been burned before!!). Eventually, I came across this site and read the reviews for Armada then went away and did some more digging. Eventually, took the plunge and gave them an order for a custom PC.

The PC arrived on time but wouldn't power up. Phoned them up and was put through to a technical person immediately (I'll repeat that - immediately). They offered to have it uplifted on Monday (this was Saturday). However, we discussed the problem and came up with some potential solutions. Turned out to be a faulty power cable (must have happened in transit as they fully test systems before dispatch). I had a spare one and that solved it.

Small glitch aside, they were 100% responsive; PC was delivered on time; made all the right noises when there was a problem and I'm now typing this on a 3 GHz, 2 x 180 GB, 17" TFT with graphics and sound cards for under a grand.

Would I use them again? Most definitely.

Save yourself some time and check out their custom PCs option - great value and great service.

“Bought the Armada Home PC 5 (64) with 17" TFT upgrade. ”

★★★★★

written by treborsn on 31/10/2004

Bought the Armada Home PC 5 (64) with 17" TFT upgrade.

Just to say I have bought a few items on line but this is the first one I've ever reviewed. Which definitely says something.

I use the PC for work (CAD) and games, the performance excellent. The digital TV also comes in handy when the football is on and I'm kicked out of the front room! With this I also get digital radio.

Base unit was £938.55 plus £166.44 for the monitor upgrade. Ok some people may be able to find cheaper but I had a look around and all I can say is for a quality PC, reasonable price, quick delivery go to Armarda.

I've just bought a monster number cruncher from Armada Computers, An Intel P4 3.4 512K Cache 800FSB HT Jean Tech Case with two 120mm fans front and read with side speed controllers.
500 Watt power supply
Full Size MSI .Motherboard (875p NEO) (Intel 875 chip set)
Onboard network with 1Gb Lan
MSI 52 Speed CD Rom
80gb SATA HDD
128Mb Radeon 9200SE
2Gb ddr (in two duel channels)

And I can't fault anything about the service I have had from Armada computers.

The advice is excellent and as for the price for this unit,£750+vat, I can't beat it.

I've been looking for a laptop for a few weeks talking to PC world and the like but came across Armada by chance on the web, rang them up phone answered very quickly and they were able to answer all my questions. I even kept pestering them for the next couple of weeks, was able to speak to the same person each time which was fantastic.

Eventually I orderd my laptop at 4.30pm arrived with me at just after 9 the next day.

Great looking laptop really product with lots of extras webcam, mouse, case and extra keyboard, just purchased a TFT off Armada now and I now have a complete mobile and home PC.

Armada Computers Ltd. - Having waved goodbye to a creaky P166 I was in need of a PC that would be fairly high spec but without the extras I wouldn't need (mouse, keyboard, modem, printer etc.). Armada Computers were a godsend. For less than £700 they built me a P4 with 256 MB of RAM, 80 GB HD, with various whistles and bells. Being a bit of a control freak and quite anxious to have my PC a.s.a.p, I emailed frequently and found them to be ultra-helpful and very patient with my requests. When the PC arrived it, was built to a very high spec with all requested software pre-loaded; not only that, but it looks the business too! Slight problem with the floppy drive that they're going to send someone out to fix, so no real problem at all. I would recommend that you use this company.

written by huwevans on 11/02/2004

I've been looking for a new PC for a while and came across Armada Computers on the web. I emailed enquiring about a computer with a specific configuration and within an hour had received a reply.

Their website has a Quick Code facility. A webpage that described the configuration of my PC had been created by the guys at Armada and I could access it with the Quick Code key they sent to me by email.

I then exchanged email with Armada about changing the configuration. On each email the configuration was promptly updated and the new information was easily obtained from my configuration webpage.

The build quality of the computer is great, especially the case. The case is very well made and the whole unit is very quiet (as I spec'd a quieter power supply).

The price was very competitive --- I think I've got a great machine that's well built and highly spec'd, for a lot less than others would have charged. Add to that the great customer service and you can't go wrong with Armada Computers.

having been looking for a discount computer system for some time I stumbled upon Armada Computers.

The prices were very competitive and the 'Build Your Own' feature on the website allows you to play about to get a healthy balance of cost/performance.

I read a review here which clinched it for me so I bought a 2000XP based system for under £400.

I was so impressed I have since bought another more expensive machine, and based upon my experinces two of my colleagues have also made purchases.

The speed at which questions are answered is unknown in online shopping, I posted a query at 8pm on a Sunday and had a reply within 30mins
beat that anyone.

I also had a small issue with the hard drive in a machine on a thursday evening, by Monday I had a new hard drive. The professional and speedy manner in which it was handled should be an example to the 'Big Boys' - are you listening DABS - and it only serves to boost my opinion of Armada Computers.

They are quite simply EXCELLENT.

“I like things that are of good quality, but I hate to...”

written by GwU 777 on 22/09/2003

I like things that are of good quality, but I hate to pay over the odds for them. I am not always satisfied, but thsi time I have been REALLY satisfied.

After looking for a long time to find a company that would match my requirements on-line, i.e. that could build a PC exactly according to my needs, I ended up on the armada website. It looks fairly straightforward and promised to get the best price for me. Yeah right I thought! I filled their 'name your price form', very straightforward (and they have just changed it for a better one!) without much hope. Less than 2 hours later an email was sent to me, confirming that they could match my request and advising on a possible upgrade.

I was very surprised with the level of service and tried another request on-line with a different address. Then again 2 hours later I received another email, matching my request and giving me advice on how to mix both of my requests. In the meantime I also received another email offering me a discount of £10, because they made a tiny mistake in their description (which I hadn't even noticed!).

Very impressed, I decided to buy the machine and phoned them. Even though it was outside of office hours, a technician answered me very nicely and said that the person in charge would call me back within half an hour. You know how it works this kind of thing... Once again I was wrong! Anne, the person I was in contact with, phoned me within 15 minutes and we finalized my order. She answered all my questions and assured me that my computer was going to be checked. Would you believe it, even then I thought I would be disapointed at some point!

3 days later, my PC arrived and everything was alright if not better! I checked all the connections and everything that I could, the PC was EXACTLY as described. I know now where to get the best value for money around, with great and friendly customer service: http://www.armadacomputers.co.uk/.

“I was looking to buy a new PC and after looking around...”

★★★★★

written by Ian. on 21/07/2003

I was looking to buy a new PC and after looking around it seemed possible to buy a reasonable spec. PC for significantly less than £1000.

I found the Armada Computers site after a Google search and completed the "Name Your Price" web form. Not long after I received a reply confirming that they could match my requirements - AMD 2000+, 1000Gb RAM, CD burner, modem, Windows XP installed, 17" Monitor for £430 including delivery, 1 years return-to-base & lifetime labour warranty. They suggested upgrading the motherboard to a slightly higher spec. to allow for future expansion, and for an extra £20 this seemed reasonable.

Armada supplied me with additional technical detail of the system after I requested it (make of mother board etc.)

I hesitated slightly as I was unable to find any reviews for the company and I emailed them to explain this. They replied to explain that they've only recently begun offering their service via the internet, but that they do advertise in PC Utilities magazine.

Deciding that the price was too good to refuse I decided to go ahead and order. I paid via bank transfer as there's a credit card surcharge. I received an email copy of the invoice shortly after confirming my order and once the funds had cleared I received another email with delivery details.

The system was delivered by TNT and arrived on the date specified. The PC arrived with the software pre-loaded and worked out of the box. I'm fairly computer literate and realised that everything was in order and well assembled.

The only problem I had concerned the video card which developed an intermittent fault after about 40 minutes of use (feint bands of interference drifting across the display). I emailed Armada to explain this and explaining that I had checked the display settings, tried a different monitor, reseated the video card in the slot, checked the ventilation around the PC and still not cured the problem. They offered to send a replacement for me to try. If I had been less technically minded then I could have called their technical department, or I guess returned the unit if all else failed.

A replacement card arrived a couple of days later, which cured the fault completely.

I've had the system for a couple of weeks now and it works perfectly (touch wood!). I have been very impressed with the service I received and would definitely recommend them.
