I first started playing runescape when I as about 10 and only stopped when I was around 15, so it can definitley get quite addictive in that respect but it was fun at the time I suppose! I particularly enjoyed making friends on the game and joining clans etc I also loved the idea at becomming a high level at certain skills and being able to go into the "wilderness/dueling arena" and show off these "skills", it always sounded farfetched whilst talking to my friends about the game however, once playing the game it really was something special I would recommend this game to a lot of kids, however, it does get in the road of school sometimes.

RuneScape kinda of gives you a feeling like your in the game if you like magic, cutting wood, farming, building houses, slaying things, ranging and all other types of things you should try this game. There are several things about this game that I don't like and that is that it is taking over my brothers life and all he does is sits at home and plays the game don't let that happen to you.

RuneScape: www.runescape.com. First came across this game when introduced by a friend, not long after they upgraded from their first version, which as far as I am aware is still playable (the newer version is a big improvement over the first version which I refused to play), although I have stopped playing this game, I do have a some experience with it, as I was extremely addicted (playing up to 8hours+ a day in some cases)
Game: this is a purely online game, and requires no additional software to purchase, just sign up for free membership (recommended first for new users), and play away using you internet browser.
Membership: The game can be played for free, and is very enjoyable, but your movement is restricted to a smaller map area, and you are limited to the amount of places you can go to, and the equipment you can use. If you really like this game after about a month or so, I would strongly recommend full membership, only a few quid but if you can afford it, it will open a whole lot of doors, I played for many years as a full member and loved it! Being able to increase my skills twice as fast as a non member due to the facilities being available for me to do so (E.g. More banks, coal/Gold mines, access to the entire map, more worth while quests, better improved armour, etc).. Plus you can always go back to the free servers and show off all your hard work to some new players (although be prepared to be pestered to death!)
Updates: This game is updated on a regular basis, as is for ever changing in different ways, new weapons, quests + rewards, better armour, magic spells, more facilities such as banks, shops, etc are been added and improved (too many too list) . I have seen LOADS of improvements, and am still astonished to see that the improvements are still ongoing and they do not seem to be an end to them either!
Requirements: A basic computer (not too slow, as this can have effects) which can be connected to the internet (56k modem connection or a broadband connection), a stable broadband connection will be required, as some aspects of the game require your full attention (or your character may be killed, and you could loose a lot of valuable stuff).. As long as the computers internet browser can use Java then it should be ok. (Just watch out of your regular computer maintenance schedules, nothing quite like an anti-virus scan popping up to cause lagging problems in the game)!
Easy/difficult: The game layout is easy to use and can soon be learnt by anyone of all ages, as the game has been developed to suit most people, all instructions in the game are word based and are usually repeatable.
Other aspects of the game, such as quests, and improving skills are not as easy to follow, quests are not easy to do due to the lack of information (this is improving though), and the skill building is extremely time consuming once your at a high level!!, this may put off a lot of people - it certainly annoyed me! (Prepare to put a lot of time in to earn those skill points - don't over do it though!)
Learning: This game has been able to improve some peoples, reading, writing, calculating, and direction following skills.. this is a fun way to improve on such aspects (its not a violent, pointless game, its a fun game which allows easy, and safe interaction with other players)
Graphics: The graphics can be set to either High or Low depending on you computers specifications (limitations), but they are not fantastic, lets not forget that this is a web browser game, graphics which can be seen on such games as BF2142, Medal Of Honor: Airborne' are a physical impossibility for a web browser games)
Scammers/Liars: Sadly as with most games, there are the majority of players out there that like to try and pull a fast one, players that will continually try and break the rules, and try to con you out of everything you own if they could! Beware of such people!, if it sounds to good to be true, then it usually is!
Don't exchange anything valuable with anyone!! - unless you are certain your getting a reasonable deal in exchange.. (E.g. If some one asks to borrow something extremely expensive, some players would believe this to be a genuine request and would comply.. however, 99% of the time this is a scam artist, trying his luck at taking advantage, they will usually keep your items and will make a runner, and there will be no way to claim such items back - purely your own fault for giving them away!)
Beware that there are players which will try a number of tricks, if your suspicious, just walk away!
Also if a player which could be higher in combat skill that yourself, invites you up to the 'wilderness' (Top of the map, where people usually go for fun or to sort arguments out, by fighting to the death), or to go somewhere which could potentially be dangerous, beware as this is usually a trick, to get you to load up on all your valuables prior to entering, then when you die, you will re-spawn with only about 3 or 4 of your most valuable items, Many players have lost large amounts of extremely valuable pieces of equipment, such as swords, shields, necklaces, body armour, helmets, money, etc, due such a scam/lies. (Again, simply walk away if your not sure, ask around see if they were pulling a fast one or not, usualy people will advice you on what to and not to do.)
Rules: Try to obey the rules as best as possible, worth case scenario is that you get caught and have you account statics wiped, or worse you get banned completely. (Also applies for membership users!) There are a number of ways you can fall fowl of the rules and regulations, read them over, if your not sure - simple ask some people and they might tell you what they mean, if your not sure then don't do it!.. Dare you risk months/years of hard work (building up skills), just to loose them by seriously breaking the rules?! Simple rules, some being:Don't cheat and don't abuse other players!
Immature: This game may seem fun to the younger players, and can be a great bored buster, but to others it can be tedious and immature. I strongly suggest that you first try the free servers for about a month or two, before making you mind up - if you want to pay for membership. (Although you can cancel membership at any time)
Addictive: Warning, this game can be extremely addictive, although good fun and can seem harmless fun, this game can and in my case was addictive, a lot of time can be lost playing this game, I have now stopped playing this game mainly for this reason alone, I now work shifts and can not afford to spend the amount of time that is required to improve on my currently high levelled character. A couple of hours a day will be sufficient to increase skills by a small degree, unless your not patient and want to increase skills faster then more time would be required - don't over do it though! This game can be seriously annoy after playing for too long, it can also be very tedious work too!
Conclusion:
Overall, this is a brilliant game, and a fantastic achievement by Jagex, thousands of people play this game every day from around the world, although it may not be suitable for some people, If you have the time and like to build up skills, learn new things, and show off your achievement's to others then this is the game for you, give it a go.. try the free server and give it a month or two to see if you really like the game, and if you do.. and you can afford it, then consider subscription... Worth every penny when you realise you can now own much more benefits such as, advanced equipment, access to nearly everything on the map, makes earning skill points faster and easier, and you can learn more skills than you can when playing for free, you also have a wide selection of member servers to choose from, although if you don't have much time to spare then maybe this is not the right game for you.

Overall the RuneScape game can be challenging with player vs player. This is a game where you'll never run out of things to do.

This game isn't great. Just once, don't feel generous wake yourself up and understand that it's the year 2006. There's way better RPG out there, like Guild Wars. Runescape is a boring game, very repetitive. Ex. (you log on, what do you do? You mine, anything fighting, mining, fishing it's all very boring. For goodness sake understand that to be good in this game you'll have to click over a thousand times. What can you do in those 1000 valuable secondes? Probably listening to some tunes, chat online, make a website, maybe go buy a better game.
Now, starting to be generous now not all of Runescape is bad. Playing killing is fun. I enjoy it a lot. The quests, meh, so and so. You can pay $5 to enhance your playing experience as a member, but it's still a lot of clicking which you should find very very time wasting.
Great games usually have to be paid for. Would you rather waste your time on free play when you can actually enjoy playing the better games just by spending a bit.
If you can't pay for a game than by all means play Runescape I'd say it's one of the best free game out there. But don't get addicted as it is very very time wasting.

Runescape. Where should I begin? There is a lot of scamming in it. It is stupid how the best player is the player who plays most. It doesn't take much skill. BUT, this game had me hooked for a year. I played on and off, but I always came crawling back to this terrible game.

I think RuneScape (www.runescape.com) is the best game I've ever played in my whole life. The best part is your always waiting to see what's going to happen. I suggest you come out with another Runescape but for it to be better.

Runescape (www.runescape.com) is a lot of fun. A great online game. However theres too many people that are obsessed with it. They make fun of you like crazy if your at a low level. It's pathetic, theres too many people with no lives that play it. I suggest they take a break from the game and go hang out with friends other then their online ones. I hate the people on it that make fun of people with low levels cause the people with low levels are the ones that just want to have fun and not be a loser. I just think it's pathetic that a bunch of people that are nerds in real life make fun of people because they aren't good on some online game. I've got a fairly strong character and a lot of money on the game but I've been playing for 2 years. I only play about once a week sometimes less more like once a month. Just don't get addicted to it, that's pretty hard but it's possible. I'm in no way addicted to it. I'd recommend it though. Also many people have said it lags and freezes. That is because of their computers not the game. This game doesn't take that much to play you don't have to have a real great computer to do it but you can't have a bad of one. They need to get better music such as nirvana. I don't think that'd be possible for them to do that but it'd be awesome.
NIRVANA ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
