Good Points: Simple. Reliable - I've already been through a car accident with this thing (hit from the rear too) and it didn't skip a beat. Wireless/Bluetooth PDA control is great

Bad Points: Does not support .WAV files! That is the only flaw in my opinion.

General comments: Fortunately or unfortunately, as a musician with recording engineering experience and a good home stereo system, I can hear the sound quality difference between mp3 files and CD's or WAV files. 256kbps and even 320kbps mp3 files sound absolutely horrible to me. The main part of the spectrum you can tell the difference on is the high frequencies - especially in drummers' cymbals in music - you can actually hear "holes" in the music with mp3's, literally, or at least I can ... this is literally the missing data taken out to make the file so small. Anyway, WAV files sound good to me but the MuzicVault PDA application does not support them. I realize it would take a while longer to scan the drive but it would be well worth it. Hopefully by describing how mp3's sound I didn't curse anyone else forever with a better ear... Plus I guess I should mention my car stereo system is a factory 10-speaker Bose system so it's pretty crystal clear. Maybe with bad speakers one wouldn't be able to tell a difference.

The MPTronix MusicVault is an excelent MP3 player. The user interface is a Palm Program and also gives the user a portable database of the music contained on the player when disconnected. Outputs are RCA, Fiber, and FM. Sound quality is excelent. The player has multiple playlists, ability to Cue songs, and a random shuffle capability by playlist or player wide. Also can be Bluetooth enabled for wireless control via Palm device.
