Chanel No. 5 was the first perfume launched by French couturier Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel. This is one of my best perfume and also smell is long lasting.

The N*5 channel L'Eau is the best perfume. It is followed by a floral whirlwind of jasmine, rose and smell is so cool and freshness. It is long lasting perfume.

This was recommended to me by trusted women. So clearly, some people do like it. As we can see from these reviews. Well, neither me nor my close friend for whom I bought this liked it. It smells like a middle-eastern men's barbershop with an added chemical like undertone. It cost so much. I have never spent so much on a perfume and it is by far the worst thing I have ever bought.

I have been wearing Chanel No. 5 for the past 40 years and have always loved it's lovely undertones. What has happened! My husband bought me a bottle of the Eau de parfum for Christmas and it smelt nothing like the beautiful parfum that I am used to. It has lost it's distinctive smell that sets it apart from any other perfum It also lost it's essence after an hour or so. Bring back the original please.

I don't understand why there are so many resenting this lovely, timeless perfume. I really love it!! I am 20 years old, but I still think I pull it off very well, and I love the smell, too. It comes in an elegant box, and it's something I'm not afraid to show off at the front of my shelf in my bathroom. I want everybody to see I wear Chanel No5. I must admit I was a bit suspicious about it at first because of reading so many negative reviews, and didn't know if I should order it or not. But now I am so glad I did. Don't hesitate, just buy it!

Love the perfume and have used it for many years. Stupid latest Brad Pitt ad almost makes me stop using it and if I see it often enough I will. I have nothing against him personally, but despise the ad.

It's absolutely horrible. It smells like soap, really old one. I wouldn't wear it even if I would get it as a present.

This scent is extremely pungent and can become overbearing with two to three sprays. I would say it is delightful as one sparing spray at the start of the day and no top up would be advised. It can be described as a very classic, sophisticated and antique smell.

My husband bought Channel No 5 Eau De Parfum 100ml for me as a 2009 Xmas present. I could not believe such an awful, pungent smell could be produced by a well known name as Channel. Initial I thought he got me a fake version but he confirmed that he bought it over the counter at Boot's for £78. It's the worst smelling perfume I've ever come accross, surely it can't be the same Channel No 5 that the other Reviewers have given 5 stars for. I would have given no star for it if the system had allowed me but reluctantly gave a star which the product does not deserve. It's a waste of money and if Channel had changed the composition ffom what it used to be, they should withdraw it from the market and refund the recent purchasers.

I have been wearing Chanel no. 5, most days for over 40 years and I loved it!!I recently purchased my usual 100gr. bottle of Eau de Perfum and shock horror - it smells awful! they have completely changed it. It just doesn't smell anything like it used to. I even went back to the Debenhams store I purchased it from to smell the tester. This was the same ! i don't know what to do because I hate it and I'm devastated!

Marilyn Monroe once declared that it was the only thing she wore in bed. There was never a Chanel No .1, 2, 3 or 4. Since its debut it is considered to be one of life's sensual luxuries.
This ultimate, feminine scent combines a blend of neroli and ylang ylang, with basenotes of sandlewood, vetiver and vanilla to create simply the most sensual fragrance know to all women and yet belonging to each individual.

I just love Chanel No 5. I have been wearing it for some 20 years now and I still enjoy the moment I take that beautiful bottle in my hand and spray it on. For me it is one of life's great pleasures. I would agree it either suits you or it doesn't. I just love it and can't count how often it has been complimented, and even if it wasn't it's more about the pleasure I get from wearing it.
I am just back from a trip to New York (fabulous city), and in Bloomingdales they got me to try 'a new' Chanel No 5, that they said is a 'lighter version' of the original. I didn't like it at all, and asked why it was being given the same name... they didn't know... I just hope they don't intend to phase out my all time favourite for this lesser product...

Chanel No.5 is the only perfume I ever wear now, my signature fragrance. I always get positive comments from my male colleagues when I wear it (which is every day as I never go anywhere without it), and my partner loves it.

""I want to give women an artificial perfume," said Chanel. "Yes, I really do mean artificial, like a dress, something that has been made. I don't want any Rose or Lily of the Valley, I want a perfume that is a composition." For the first time, large quantities of aldehyde's, synthetic substances were used in perfume to lighten the heady flower notes, and to raise their sensuality toward refined seduction.""
I did a report on the famous designer Chanel and her history, and while doing it I came upon the importance of her perfume Chanel no.5. It was the first perfume that bared the name of the designer, and was named no.5 for a specific reason. When one of her male partners in business was making her fragrances to try and sell in her little boutique in France, there were about 10 to choose from. She smelt the first one to the fifth one, and stopped at the fifth one and said it was amazing. She named it no.5. I tried this perfume, and I realized that contrary to the mutual beliefs of many others, this perfume does not suit everybody. In fact, it either suits you or it doesn't. Having tried it, I was complimented on the scent, and came to the conclusion that it suited me. You know if a perfume suits you if it doesn't bother you, or make you feel stuffed up after you put it on, or if it doesn't smell too heavy. In fact it shouldn't really smell at all, this shows that it blends with your natural scent. Chanel no.5 is a powdery scent that awakens the nostrils and brightens the face up. I also recommend, without hesitation, the amazing Lalique, that bears a fragrance equal to the luxury of Chanel no.5.
An everlasting perfume, Marylin Monroe's favorite, Chanel no. 5 is truly a timeless classic. (I hope it suits you).

I am in agreement with you! I have used no 5 for nearly 50 years and having recently been given a new perfum spray bought from Debenhams, not Eau de Perfum, I am so dissapointed that I would like to complain to Chanel but so far have been unable to find a contact number
