    Bad Points: zoom quality bad.

General comments: The Canon MVX250i is a great little camera that worked for me.

I have spent over 550 quid on the Canon MVX250i (purchase + repair) and now its just a pile of scrap plastic. Been kept in an official Canon case and well looked after and I feel its now fit for the bin. Extremely disappointed that Canon have designed such a good camera in principle and apparently failed to execute its production into a reliable product. Scores 0 out of 10 I'm afraid.

I feel totally cheated by the Canon MVX250i. Yes, a fault is always a risk; two major faults is appalling. Unfortunately, as it's outside the initial warranty period, Canon advise that I must pay for a repair - despite the fact that their product could not survive reaching double-figures in the number of tapes used! On principle, I'm not paying for a repair; I'm buying a new Sony.

I purchased the MVX 250i camcorder to replace the Canon MV600i which I found to have problems with low light and high contrast subjects IE: Very grainy video.

Since using the Canon MVX 250i I have found the auto exposure copes extremely well in all conditions for a camcorder in its price range, using the manual settings improves things immensely with no evidence of colour bleed or grain even without a video light.

The auto focus adjusts quickly to lock onto subjects even when in low light ...

I consider myself pretty testing with new digital toys and the Canon MVX250i Digital Camcorder has met all expectations and more. Firstly the quality of pictures to both SD card and Mini DV tapes is superb and so easy to use. Within the first few hours I was uploading images and video to store on my pc. This camera really does do everything it says on the box with quality and simplicity!
