Good Points: Good sports tyre and was the standard fit for my 98 R1
Bad Points: Good at picking up nails - but easy to "mushroom" !
General comments: My 98 Yamaha YZF1000R1 came with Mez 3's as standard and it was a good compromise.
I was getting about 4k on the rear and 6k on the front of medium to hard riding. The front i replaced with a Mez 3 sport - less mileage but better grip. The rear I actually replaced later with a Mez 4 for less sport and more touring and got 8k out of it.
Did seem to pick up a lot of nails and after a mushroom or two decided to replace earlier. Maybe too soft compound ?
All riding done on the Island of Cyprus - hot roads and warm tyres most of the time.
Reccomended !

The Metzeler MEZ 3 is a sports tourer tyre but probably more sports than tourer. For the high mileage user it did square off rather quickly and an hour or so of high speed motorway riding saw perceptible wear. nevertheless, reasonable mileage, good handling, good roadholding and average price for a medium power bike ridden by an old geyser.- Read david wadsworth's review (98 words and 1 comment)
