“Beyond bad.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Criton on 10/12/2013

I never write reviews nor visit forums, so to even contemplate writing a review is a stretch, BUT these tires are that bad. I've ridden them on two bikes, and are currently fitted to my R1. Both bikes exhibit a twitchy loose early slide especially in the wet, as another review states on a roundabout they are atrocious in the wet and give way even at a slight lean. As for the reviews praising the tires, every bike and rider is different but like I say, two bikes, wet and dry, same rider and same road same poor grip, no brainer. (Tires were fitted by previous owners bikes both times)

These came standard on my 2003 RSV1000 Mille. I did a track day at Eastern Creek when the tyres had 3000km on them. The grip at the dry track was great. When pushed through corners the tyres would provide early feedback when the bike was starting to drift when leant right over. No slides or moments, just nice early warnings keeping me rubber side down. They warmed up quickly too. The tyres would ball up nicely without destroying themselves and at the end of the day I was very happy with them. They lasted nearly 6,800Km and when I had to replace them I was very disappointed in not being able to find a new set of 207 RR's to replace them with. I've since fitted Metzler M1's. They appear ok but have nearly half the rear tyre life expectancy. The front end steering feels heavier as well. So I would say I prefer the D207 RR's. I don't consider myself hard on my tyres, and actually try to get the most life out of them. But when the 'need for speed'takes me, I will push hard, probably a little too hard on unpredicable public road surfaces and the D207's did it all...'nuf said.

Okay, well I have these Dunlop D207 RR tyres fitted to my Aprilia RS125. These tyres apparently are the best for 125cc performance as they race them in GP 125's. Overall they're really grippy, even in the wet - in my opinion you would struggle to find a better sport/race performance tyre that's suitable for road use as well. Even on the track these tyres give plenty of feedback for the rider and have a surprisingly good wear rate (they don't wear out easily)!
I would recommend them to anyone that can appreciate the stability, performance, technology and feedback that these tyres provide - they're a really popular brand as well and cost roughly £150 for a pair on a site that I found. Recommend 10/10 100% A+
From AJ ;)

Best 'performance' mod fitted to my bike. It's an old VTR1000 Firestorm (Superhawk), dyno'd, K&N'd, braided hoses, wavy discs, etc., etc. But having moved from original Dunlop D204's to D207's, then to D208's and now second set of D207 RR's, never could believe the bike could handle that well. Have ridden so much over years, including recent test ride on a 999 which I thought would replace it. Ducati on standard Pirelli's just wouldn't drop into corners with any confidence, while old Firestorm still sparks pegs (as hero tabs long worn out!). Still shocked that Race Rep tyres could have such an effect on an aging twin like mine, but after 200+ miles on Duke with standard tyres, blowing 8 grand just for the Duke name over me storm (bought brand new in 98!) can't be justifed. An RSV Factory with the D208 RR's has been ordered. Never tried the RR versions of the 208, but will let you know as soon as I've worn through first knee slider!

Got the D207 tyres from a friend for £70 having only done a few laps of oulton park he ended up in a mangled mess at Druids! I now understand why after fitting them to my commuter cbr600F. They are okay for getting to work but inspire no confidence on roundabouts or fast bends. You feel like they are going to give any second and lock up easily upon heavy braking. Steering responds well but little feedback. It sort of feels like you have about 50 psi in the tyres when there is only 34. Will use them to the death whether it be the tyres, the bikes or mine!! Michelin Pilot powers again next time round if I'm still here! LOL......

Fine in the dry but in wet weather they're awful, doesn't feel like there's any grip at all. Will get rid asap.

The Dunlop D207 is the best tire I've used on my CBR600F2 and F3.
This tire seems to like middleweights. Flickable and stable if you use the 60 series in the front and go to a 70 series in the rear. It seems to work a lot better than the 70 front and 60 rear.

written by trus on 23/03/2009

Good tyre for road-use and fulfilling what is needed to, good grip in extreme situations, and somehow, it tells me how far the limit is. Good riding comfort as it has reached its working temperature, lasting for a reasonable period, easy handling. When mounting, one should be, as always, careful not to damage the side-wall, which rests on the inside of the wheel, they bed in as a matter of speaking I suppose. For what the Dunlop 207D does, to the one, who rides this kind a tyre, appears a brand new world, of having trust, in your machine, when the set-ups for firm riding are being followed well. That feeling, is what we were looking for, trust that is.

I tried these tyres on my first Hayabusa in about 2001. In my opinion they are totally unsuitable for the bike. After they were fitted I couldn't even get it to go in a straight line on a motorway.
There was a special version of the tyre with strengthened sidewalls which Dunlop made. I don't know if they still make it, nor what modifications may have been made to the tyre since I last tried it. Dunlop replaced my original D207s with these strengthened tyres, but I still found them to be vague. I sold the bike soon after fitting them as the engine blew up while I was waiting for the traffic lights to change at a road works.

I think the Dunlop D207 is a good option tyre for a rider that only really rides in dry weather. Good value for money. Don't feel the grip is there in the wet.

Overall I consider the Dunlop D207 tyres offer good performance and value for money despite the apparent lower wear rate in recent years

I put these Dunlop D207 Tyres on my 2004 Hayabusa. This bike is tough on tires. For $99 it's well worth it. I don't notice a differance compared to stock tires.
