“DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE! ”

DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE!

out of all the 125 cruiser choppers these have to b the worst. got the bikefrom bradford 2010, after the first couple of goes it felt like heaven, everyone i knew thought it was stolen due to me being only 17, comfy, looked good, sounded ok.
but then the problems rolled in,
:no petrol gauge
:dickie neutral
:back brakes a bit slack
:no kick start and the electics are terrible
:slow, 50 at a push
:chugs
:4th gear was a nightmare
:i found a towel in the petrol tank, what the chuff
:starter motor like dumbleores farts.

good points though
: gorgeous, i ad a version without the back rest or extra little seat bits and it made it look smoother
:great tyres
:comfy as hell
:nice chrome
:easy to get to engin and other parts, afetr 8 scooters that was handy
:good throttle, nice and delicate

overal 4.5/10 great summer bike, but get a honda anyway.

this is just you buying a rubbish bike and not giving it a good check. "towel in the fuel tank". how much did you get it for?

I'm not sure lack of a petrol gauge is really a problem, I have dne 200 mile trips on mine and never emptied the tank plus it has a healthy fuel reserve so unless you rarely refuel it shouldn't be an issue.

But yes neutral can be a little awkward at times, though I wouldn't agree the back brake is slack as I use it more than the front and it does a good job.

I disagree about its speed though, I'm seventeen stones and the bike weighs about twenty and I've had it at sixty five mph (on the flat, not downhill) though usually I stick to fifty or fifty five but it gets there very easily.

Also not sure what you mean about fourth gear being a nightmare as not found that to be the case.

Sorry mate but it sounds like you bought a melon in the 1st place, i mean age, condition etc... quote \"i found a towel in the petrol tank\" unquote! unless the towel had the \"Suzuki\" emblem stitched onto it i would suggest its had nothing at all to do with their production assembly! (-:

Such a low and vague Rating for this bike, Not all Suzuki GZ 125 Marauder's come with towels in the tank as standard. Thats an issue with the bike seller not the Suzuki GZ 125 Marauder.

This is a BIKE REVIEW SITE ABOUT BIKES NOT ABOUT BIKE DEALERS!!!!

Very good Bike, Looks alot bigger than a 125 (124cc)and sounds heafty to. Currently have a 2008 reg.

lovely to look at, dissapointing to ride.gearbox is shocking false neutrals plus changing down from 3rd to 2nd or worse 2nd to 1st is a total nightmare.sometimes won't go in gear at all have to release clutch again slowly till it clunks into 2nd gear then repeat again to go into 1st.changing up 1st to 2nd sometimes straight in, other times having to double de clutch .took it back to coco the dealer to adjust clutch [no play] in it, so he adjusted it the wrong way & made it worse!!!.for a brand new bike this is dreadful, if was a horse i'd have shot it by now.oh yeah & over about 5000 revs the engine sounds like a bag a spanners. other than that i love it ,yeah right!no seriously when i look at it on my drive i think it's superb, then unfortunately i ride it & think i'm to suppose to be enjoying this .taking it to dealer NO 2 this week see what miracle he can perform.ps i hope suzuki GB read this return the building of their bikes back to japan.

“Bought a Suzuki GZ 125 Marauder in 2004 for commuter,...”

★★☆☆☆

written by jon1974 on 09/06/2006

Bought a Suzuki GZ 125 Marauder in 2004 for commuter, at first it was fine as I was running it in, but after I got used to it I found it extremely slow both pulling off and top end. After 4 months it started to get a bit clunky in the gears and I would get a lot of false neutrals. I found it imposible to get a dealership to strip the gearbox under warranty as it had not failed an the clunky box is how they put it a characteristic of that bike or just a noise that will disappear in time (let me guess that time is just after the waranty expires). So I kept riding and it kept clunking, when the winter came so did the rust so I cleaned it off with aAutosol and it came back and soon the bike was plastered. Sundays I spent cleaning the bike, not that I loved it but it cost almost £2600 and I wanted to get as much back as I could at the end of Summer.
At the end of Summer I eventuly sold it for £1500.
With that money I bought a new Jinlun JL125-11 which I have had over a year and it's fantastic.
Maybe I just had a bad one but that bike almost made my wife make me give up biking.

The reason it rusted was because you didn't keep it clean or dry. It's simple: Chrome + Water = Rust. Also you were overcharged. I have just purchased a 2007 Suzuki GZ125 for £2000 brand new.

The most suspect thing is that you say you brought a JinLun (which I considered) 125-11. And say it's better?! My experience of Chinese bikes is a bad one, and this review is will only make people buy a cheap Chinese bike instead of a well made, extremely good 125 cruiser.

Naahmate's Response to jon1974's Review

I disagree with this review because I have had my gz125 for 2 years and I have used it daily, leaving it outside work each day, obviously it got rained on regularly. I recently polished it up with a bit of chrome polish and T-Cut and it looks almost new.
And to say that you replaced it with a jinlun? I park my bike next to one in town quite often. My bike is 4 years older and has nowhere near as much rust. Yeah the jinlun is a bit faster being a twin, but it it's a cheaply made bike compared to the Suzuki GZ.

Suzuki GZ 125 Marauder - i bought new marauder from Darby, it was nice and smooth ride, however i found that cluch wire gets stuck under speedometer clock reset. When i moved to london; gears on bike getting stuck and none of the Suzuki dealers were helpful even though bike was only 1month old. Spoke to Suzuki to complain and they were not keen to help either. I won't recommend Suzuki again for customer service point.

“I loved the Suzuki GZ 125 Marauder when I first got it...”

★★☆☆☆

written by nexnecis1987 on 06/01/2006

I loved the Suzuki GZ 125 Marauder when I first got it but the chrome rusts very quickly in this weather. Now it's broken in it can reach 70 on a slope and 65 on a flat. I must say though, now I have had it a little while I have had nothing but disappointments from it. The chain constantly needs tightening and oiling. If you are like me and long for a little bit of power you will ride this bike to the max and it can start guzzling petrol. Gear changes don't always feel nice and at the moment mine is waiting to get fixed because the chain came right off! I'm glad I was going slowly at the time because my back wheel locked and could have seriously injured me. If you are looking for a low maintainence bike this is not for you!!!
