“very disappointed”

★☆☆☆☆

written by dkm99 on 09/06/2023

I am a longstanding customer of Cotton Traders. Bought a pair of their cotton trousers and after wearing them for less than an hour the colour faded. from green to gold. Only took them out of the packaging 2 days ago and Cotton Traders refuse point blank to do anything. Beware this is how they treat loyal customers. Shame on you Cotton Traders.

“Appalling service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 2427jdmb on 24/11/2021

Placed my order on 9th Nov. Received email yesterday to say it will be delivered in 4-8 weeks. Received a further email today 24th November to say it will be 8-10 weeks. This is completely unacceptable how can any company operate on these timescales.

“No Customer Services reponses”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Calvina265 on 28/01/2020

Order never arrived on the agreed date - ended up being returned to them - so they charged me for the privilege of not getting my goods by deducting money from the refund! Their customer services contact email is pointless as they have never responded to any of my emails or the Resolver case I had to open Avoid them.

“Rubbish corduroy trousers. Lousy Refund. Poor...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by crystal777 on 14/01/2020

Corduroy trousers felt plastic-like due to added "stretch" fibres and horribly baggy/misshapen. Returned the pants at my cost as item not as described. I feel out of pocket paying for delivery and return, and received an inadequate refund. Customer Service is poor (no reply to letters and Resolver emails). Overpriced products.

“Not impressed with customer service at all”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Harris-Alt419 on 17/02/2018

I ordered a shirt on-line and had it delivered to the Clacket Lane Services location on the M25 in Westerham Kent. I visited the postcode as stated on two occasions, once using the direct route involving a drive down Clacket Lane itself, another the fast route via the M25. On neither occasion could I find the Service Station even though I had actually driven down the motorway on the second occasion. I rang the shop and they told me to drive down a long winding country lane to get to it, which is precisely what I did the first time. I gave up. I tried to cancel the order and when I got through to customer services, as directed by their menu items, the customer service operative told me to ring the store and get them to send the item back. Why should I do their dirty work for them? Surely they should have just sorted that out themselves. Not impressed at all and I haven't even seen the shirt yet. I don't think I want to either.

“Bought two pairs of "jeans"”

★☆☆☆☆

written by green glass goblin on 27/09/2017

Absolutely dreadful quality. Just like rags. I could just about wear them for the allottment. When Cotton Traders asked me for a review , that is what they were told. I received a reply saying they could not publish it on their site. They only want to hear nice things - but the stuff I bought was really rubbish Roman Originals sell much better stuff - and it fits too

“Hidden call charges ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Taylorba1950 on 06/09/2017

Been with cotton traders for many years. While placing an order recently my call balance was debited £1.40 for only a few minutes. I rang to discover their premium rate charges are hidden in small print in only one place while their number is on every page.

“Half mast, very thin, ill fitting, and expensive rubbish”

★☆☆☆☆

written by edChristie482 on 20/05/2017

ordered 3 pairs of trousers from Cotton Traders, they looked quite nice, if a bit expensive. WRONG, they were very thin to start with, all 3 were different sizes, but according to the label they were all 31 inside leg. The first pair were half mast when I tried them on, I measured the inside leg, and with all the will in the world, I| couldn.t make it any more than 29 inches. The second pair, weren.t quite so bad, they were 30 inches, but they were so tight round the backside I could not have worn them all day. The third pair were , again, half mast, 29 inches inside leg. @£24 each they were absolute rubbish, NOW comes the sting in the tail, I had to pay a further £2.95 to Hermes to send them back, the gall of these people beggars belief. NEVER , EVER, AGAIN will I buy from this firm, and I advise you all to boycott them.

“absolutely appalling”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Rice283 on 07/12/2016

.Got a mailshot showing a garment my partner liked ... featured in the brochure but No details and purchasing info AT ALL. So ... got on the web and found the garment BUT ... the red one was listed as 'mustard', the cream one was listed as 'black' and (i dont believe it) the purple one was actually listed as purple (wow!) ... the size required was shown as not sold out (most sizes Were sold out ... well ... since the web site was totally misleading (unless black is the new cream, and some people eat bright red mustard) ... i telephoned the shown cotton traders number. the operative had to be corrected as to how to spell my name FOUR times ... spent ten minutes taking all my details and finally told me that the item (shown on the web as available ) was NOT available. OK i said .... take all my (just taken) address details OFF your database .... CAN'T DO THAT SHE SAID ... ok i said ..i want to speak to a manager CAN'T DO THAT SHE SAID ... I DONT WANT YOUR MAILSHOTS i said TEAR THEM UP AND THROW THEM AWAY she said .... I told her i would complain instead. The marketing department must be colourblind and the telephone staff must be deaf. I was not too unhappy not to be a customer as previous purchases have proved to be appalling quality rubbish THIS COMPANY IS ABSOLUTE RUBBISH .. AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE .....THE COMPLAINTS DEPT GOT AN EARBENDING YOU BET

“Sizing”

Fleece trousers were far too large. Resent having to pay delivery AND return postage when there are sizing anomalies. Won't use again.

“Missing Refund”

★☆☆☆☆

written by CTLacking on 05/12/2016

No call from Gloucester staff, on two occasions, notifying me orders had arrived. Had to phone to find out of they had arrived myself. Shoes were far too small or far too big when tried on at home. Returned items to store in October and was told would received full refund; still awaiting refund two months later and have had to go through long-winded refund investigation process. In meantime bombarded with emails advertising goods to buy - won't be buying from Cotton Traders again!

“Not received items”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Yayado48 on 29/11/2016

I have placed orders with cotton traders on many occasions always received on time but latest order has not been delivered. Tracking the parcel stating that they attempted but no one available, it is a business address close at 17:00. I informed customer service to advise this they said they will advise delivery services Hermes still the same happens.. Phoned cotton traders again spend with no luck advise they will contact their delivery service again... First and last ime bad experience with cotton traders they will never get a order from me again.

“Rude staff”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 14/05/2016

Not being able to find an e mail address to complain to this is my only option. Went into Shenstone (Wyvale) Garden Centre off the M6 Toll at two minutes to six when the garden centre was still open. I knew what I wanted from cotton traders the two t shirts were to replace existing. I was about to pick them up when a rude Cotton Traders shop assistant told me I could not buy them as customers had been asked to go to the exit. I said to her that did not mean I could not finish my shopping but she said she had cashed up and the shop was closed and walked into the office as I was still talking to her. The manager of Wyevale was very sympathetic and apologised for the assistants behaviour.

“You can't get rid of them!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Jensonsk on 12/05/2016

Fed up receiving their catalogues - their stuff doesn't fit me. I once ordered some shoes, they were miles too big. I wrote and asked if they had shoes in my size, and if not(which apparently they don't), then please stop sending mail. There is no complaints form or simple means of contacting them, their online Contact form has 'ClickJacking' so don't use that! Can't think why they don't have a return envelope with their their catalogue like other companies. Their Customer Service is practically non-existent if you have a problem. I give them -10 (minus 10) for Customer Service.

“Shut an hour early”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Snow213 on 20/12/2015

Visited the Magor store. The website states the store opening until 5PM. Attempted to enter the store at 4.05PM a female member of staff was in the store totally ignoring me. As soon as I moved away from the door the member of staff quickly 'escaped' to her car. The reason for this review is the web site does not state a complaint email address.
