I don't get anything like the same experience as lots of other recent reviewers here. I use the local Beefeater regularly - and I've never had bad service or bad food for that matter. I have the Beefeater Grill card and it DOES email me with special offers that are worth it. Last night I had 2 mains and a bottle of wine (an Italian Bianco which was nice and quaffable) for £20 which was for their 1st birthday of the Reward Card scheme. New on the menu is calamari, recommended, and in the... (read more)

The Beefeater Rewards club promises much but delivers less. Basically they promise they will send vouchers for special occasions. These are listed as your own birthday, your spouse’s birthday and other notable dates such as anniversaries. However when it came to my Wife’s birthday (a full 7 months after registering) I did not get a voucher and on complaint was told that it is planned to roll this out over the next couple of months. What a lot of eyewash, I don’t expect they will... (read more)

Called in on Sunday 17/03/13 @ 1540, had to wait ten minutes for a table when clearly the restaurant was half empty. Table was right next to an open door and a very cold draught, staff member introduced herself and took our order, not once did she speak to us during the whole meal. It became very obvious that the staff just attended any table when told too by a lady in charge, there body language spoke volumes, staff did not appear to be happy at all. At one point the lady in charge began... (read more)

Friendly greeting, given choice of table, asked if we would like a drink and told our Server's name. Drinks served promptly and given menu and left with enough time to select, meals ordered and served in good time. Food nicely presented, well cooked and good quality. Servers are particularly pleasant and ameanable to any requests. Visited a number of times over the past 12 months and been a happy customer - Christmas Eve was particularly nice - good atmosphere, nicely decorated. (read more)

I visited the Emersons Green Beefeater, at Bristol, with my wife & a friend for lunch 16th Nov.. We ordered a sirloin steak, sea bream,& a chicken salard. The steak was so tough that even the knife supplied woyld not cut it, I wonder if the half of a tomato & one muhroom was a supposed to be a joke. The sea bream portions were smaller than fish fingers and over ccoked, not very pleasant to eat. The chicken in the salad was not fresh, out of a bag & into the micro wave, then flashed in the... We often eat out and was disgusted at the lack of service we received at The Manor Farm in Rainham . We waited for at least 20mins to get any service and a further 20mins to get a drink . The restaurant was not busy at all . Several times we asked for a colouring picture for our child to be told yeh one second . To which i had to then go and get myself. We then had to wait another 20/25 mins for food to arrive . We were told it was bottomless chips so asked for more which we waited and... (read more)

We arrived at the Grandstand Beefeater in Newton Abbot and we were greeted by a friendly face. They cleaned the table down in front of us and re-layed it for us. we were introduced to LIZZY, our waitress for the duration of our meal. She was very friendly and explained that the lager was buy one get one half price. She came back to ask if everything was OK with our meal, which many restaurants simply don't do. She made a fuss of our 15 month old daughter and brought out a little bit of ice... (read more)

The decor was nice though it may benefit with a touch more light to it. Staff was friendly and attentive The food was fairly decent, I had the mixed grill and most of it was decent though the beef could do with some more seasoning and was more well done than medium which was disappointing. Overall a nice restuarant to bring the family to and has a nice ambient atmosphere however I did come in the afternoon. (read more)

This branch has been opened a week and we have been in twice. The building is great and very tasteful inside. The problem is the staff, so many just walking about and no one doing anything. Three of us went to the Beefeater for a quick meal before we were to head off out, unfortunately the restaurant was full and the only table they could offer us was the tiniest block of wood that not even Keira Knightley and Kate Moss would fit around, so we opted to sit in the bar and were told that the food was the same, but all you had to do was order at the bar. The first wine glass we received still had lipstick on it, and was draped in finger print marks, our starters were soon to... (read more)

Just eaten a lovely steak at lunch time today with daughter and friend, was a little disappointed there was no salad like last week, however the new idea of bottomless chips was a novelty,in fact enough chips to put you off having a pudding. we asked for a doggy bag and took them home rather than waste them. next time we are going to bring a tidy bin and see if we can run the kitchen out of bottomless chips [all for free]. Joking aside I did suggest they asked people if they would like more... (read more)

We stayed at the Premier Inn next door so the restaurant was conveneint. However, on the Saturday night, after our meal we went to the bar for a drink. At 9.55 p.m. the staff began banging chairs up on to tables to start clearing up, a full hour or more before closing time! Gave the a second chance the following night, when we were subjected to screaming children, whose parents ignored them. What a disappointing end to a lovely day when we went to the BEEFEATER RESTAURANT at GOURDIE CROFT DUNDEE. We ordered our meal at 18:40 and had to wait for 40 minutes (not acceptable)to be served, plus the Chicken Roast had no roast potatoes as advertised, the presentation was very much 3rd class. I am a regular diner at Beefeater restaurants and would like to say how great this visit was. The restaurant has just had a refurb and looks great. We always have a steak here because of the chef there we recognise. We used to go to The Longford Inn but have recently noticed that the chef who cooks here used to cook us our excellent steaks at The longford to. We would recommend anyone to try one of his steaks. They are truely magnificent. Will be visiting this restaurant again soon. Thanks (read more)

I visited this Beefeater with 14 other friends at lunchtime. The service was quite slow but, bearing in mind they had to plate up 14 meals together, it was acceptable. However, I did feel that the main courses were very small compared to other eateries. I normally cannot manage a dessert after a main meal but I still felt quite hungry. My fellow diners also felt a bit 'cheated' as to the size of the meals. The meals were quite acceptable. (read more)

I have only good points to add about the Mallard Beefeater in Derby, decor superb light modern and most of comfortable. Serviced by a very polite helpful staff member who was keen to do best which shone through her hard efforts to please. The meal was cooked to perfection and the stilton and mushroom with burgers is highly recommended, the overall experience has left us wanting to go back again

Made the mistake of taking sunday lunch in a beefeater restaurant in sewardstone road epping/chingford. I thought the food was truly awful.
The 'Roast Beef' looked like it came from a packet, coloured grey and not a hint of rareness and as if it had spent the last year of it's existence in a packet rather than part of a living organism, heated up in a microwave. The sort of thing we used to get at school.
'Roast' potatoes appeared to have been cooked in a deep fat fryer. Cauliflower and...

I've eaten at Beefeaters throughout the UK, and depressingly always found them pretty good. The reason I'm not celebrating them more is because there is no uniqueness to them - other than quality of service - as the menu never seems to change. I work near one off Tredegar Park, Newport, South Wales, and regularly lunch there - particularly as many meals are half price at lunch time!!!
The gammon is perfectly fine; usually with crisp slightly burnt fat. The steaks are fine and recommended,...

This is the second review I have written for the Countess Wear (Beefeater) restaurant based souly on our Christmas day dining experience.

Just one thing I forgot. The Countess Wear is an Inn, not far from junction 30 M5, towards the City from Topsham, so if travelling through, it would make a great overnight stop with a lovely Restaurant and Bar. Better still, pay a visit to the City too!
