Recently had an eye test and new varifocals from Accrington Specsavers,what wonderful service. The test was very good and they photographed my eye.I was impressed with their professionalism and knowledge. I was not rushed at any time. Given plenty of time and the lady explained everything to me. I have never felt so confident at an opticians before. I was nit even guided to purchase the designer frames. Will definitely return. “Disappointment at the Sutton branch”

The disappointment started with the very quick and not very thorough eye test it felt like the whole eye test was rushed. Then when choosing the glasses there was not assistance or advise on what glasses would best suit. So we paid for our glasses and were told to come back next week to pick them up. Before going for the eye test my work had sent me eye care vouchers to use but I had forgot to take them so they said to bring them when I pick up my glasses and they would refund the money. So... My wife and I went to the Morrisons Specsavers in Lincoln? We had our eyes tested and then the "sales" person rushed in to escort us out and they "sold" us both varifocals. The combined price £600 plus. We eventually got the "they have arrived" call and went to pick them up. I immediately stated that the frames didn't sit right (they felt low on one side). I have only just recently joined Specsavers as i used to be with another opticians, and its safe to say Specasvers have been brilliant. There has been no hassle since i joined and i've been given free eye tests and also lots of good deals on new reading glasses. Including 2 for 1 for only £69 which is perfect for me and my partner. Needed reading glasses, eye test confirmed I also required glasses for driving. I recently purchased a chain from the above branch to suit my spectacles. My spectacles are for reading and when shopping I need to put them on to look at goods, prices, etc., and to take them off for walking around a store/shop. Fantasic service. The rubber sheath on the arm of my quiksilver specs which I'd bought there two years back had broken, so I dropped by to see if they had a spare/ replacement. Instead after about 10 minutes checking out the back they returned with both arms replaced with new quicksilver ones- and at no cost. “AVOID LUDLOW - DISGRACEFUL!!!”

Less than one star for this irresponsible and shameful practice. When I went in to complain about a pair of lenses they made, the assistant correctly found a manufacturing error but the owner then took over and said nothing was wrong their work. So started an unnecessary 3 month saga of inconvenience and wasted NHS resources which these people are directly responsible for. “Eye Test Rushed.”

Eye test rushed,very keen to sell me new frames and smilled all the way to the till. On picking up my new £300 glasses they could not wait to get me out of the door even though my glasses did not fit properly (still not sorted). Just sales people with important looking name badges on their chests and possibly on a bonus scheme. I want to find a proper Optician next time. (read more)

I have to speak as I find. Have worn specs since I was 8 years of age and that's more than 50 years ago.
I found Worcester SpecSavers excellent and have revisited them on a regular basis.
Perhaps the customer service is not comparable in different regions and maybe SpecSavers should look at this.
As a pensioner requiring reaction lenses as well as varifocals I cant afford top of the range frames and this has never shown in their treatment of me as a customer.
Let hope all types of opticians read these reviews and take note :)

The branch has had a refurb quite recently, and seems nice clean and decent from tje onset. There are many staff milling about talking and greeeting customers. Whilst waiting to be called in for the optican i noticed staff taking fun and making joke of a customer that had just gone the stairs making reference to her bouncing fat around her legs. I ordered a pair of cheap glasses to see, having never used the service if it was any good. The answer...no. I placed the order and received an email stating they were being made etc. 2 weeks later I rang to see if they were ready after not hearing from them. After only having my glasses for 1 year the right arm fell off!!so my husband returned to the store to ask for them to be fixed. The assistant had the cheek to tell him I could pay £15 to fix the arm or buy a new pair. We had the arm fixed and paid up. Very efficient and friendly staff at the Ipswich branch.My husband and i had our eyes and hearing tested.I had a gentleman test my eyesight he was very good. Previously I had ordered a pair of spec`s and apart from a long delivery delay there were no problems. A new pair were then ordered in October, by early December I asked for an update, only to find that payment had not been processed or order started. I was required to make payment anew. I have been a lensmail customer for 2 years, and am frequently subjected to specsavers hijacking my lenses for months on end due to me being due an eye test or similar. but do they get in touch to let me know? of course not! they would rather leave you wearing 2 month old lenses, ringing the lensmail 'help'line everyday to be lied to and told that the lenses have been sent out. when you do find out that the lenses are being held hostage until you come... Nasty, nasty nasty people. Never again. I have never seen such rude, arrogant and malicious treatment of a customer who decided to leave Specsavers and take his prescription elsewhere. Just horrible. Avoid these ******** at all cost. Please tell all your families and friends to avoid these money grabbing, nasty, rude, vindictive ********. “my verulux lenses broke with in 4 months of purchase”

I got two pair of bifocal glasses with verulux lenses end of September 2012 as my previous optician had retired. I have used high quality verulux lenses for the last 20 years and never had any problems with lenses and they never broke even when dropped on the hard surface. To be balanced this review I have used them for years and been fine no complaints. However just moved house gave them 22 days notice to change my address so my contact lenses would be delivered to my new house. Turns out needed to give my date of birth as well, but as I was moving house and a bit busy, missed that mail. Rather than hold my delivery as they knew i was not at that address they sent the contact anyway.....what kind of a stupid action is that. So £120 of lenses lost. ... (read more)

I have the DD set up with the colour contact lences in S Harrow and I am trying to swipe the Kingsbury branch or deliver to my house as I moved the house recently. I visited the West Ealing branch last week and was very impressed with the young guy who so thoroughly did my eye test. My partner also was in need of a test and I recommended she booked an appointment with the same chap - which she did. I have a prescription with Muswell Hill branch. They do not stock many lenses and have been very slow and uncommunicative about orders for lenses. These are the most uncomfortable glasses ever. When I chose a pair of frames the only check they did was to see if the lense would fit. They did not check the size of the frame on my face. Its like going to the doctors, you expect them to give advise and suggestions as at the time you do not know to check things like the size of the frame. I've had my glasses for less than a year, some quite popular fcuk design with silver fcuk letter embedded on both arms of the glasses. All letters on both sides have come off, leaving behind an unappealing yellow gunk (the cheap glue supposed to hold the letters in place). As the title really, they are prejudice, I am diabetic and they presumed because i'm diabetic I must be on benefits, i'm type 1 which is the type that has nothing to do with weather you keep fit or not, its juvenile onset, plus I am not on any benefits not that it would have been those under educated things business if I was, in fact I make far more than they make judging by how serious they took their job or how little should I say!
