I have felt for 18 months or more that my poor vision in my right eye was not being addressed with VE, although my records suggested 6/6 vision. I have moved to Spec savers and finally i have a referral to a consultant specialist. I have seen two optometrists at the same VE branch and both were abrupt and seemed uninterested during my appointment. After several years with the competition, I decided to visit the Yeadon branch of Vision Express and was unbelievably surprised and satisfied. The assistance of all staff, was considerate and helpful. Bought glasses from them in two occasions, quality is bad bad bad, they scratch in no time (compared to equally treated lenses from other providers) even a pair of £9.99 reading glasses from the chemist lasts longer. Prices are extortionate, service is good except after sale, then they don't give two hoots about you. Even complained on their website, heard nothing, surprise surprise... “A tale of two opticians”

An arm of my spectacles had become detached due to a screw coming out. I visited Vision Express in Harrow at 5pm this afternoon and asked a lady assistant if they could help. She told me that my glasses could not be repaired and needed to be replaced as the hinge was broken. I knew this was not the case. Ordered glasses at the grand sum of £475 as my old one where on their last legs and was told would be up to two weeks but is usually faster, sadly old glasses broke so went into branch to ask if my glasses could be made ASAP as I was now without glasses and was told yes.Two week now passed and have been fed nothing but bull about how difficult it is to make my particular frame and no feedback from shop really poor service from a company that used to make your glasses in shop quickly. The price on the label is cheating customs!!! It includes a dispensing services charge which is twice as much as the glasses price and I don't understand what the hell is that! I have paid a glasses for £359 and when I got back home I found that the good charge is £118 and dispensing services charge for the glasses is £240. I urgently needed daily use contact lens, but unfortunately my last eye test was out of date and I required an eye test and a another contact lens test. I called the Ealing branch, who gave me a 3pm appointment, this went great and the politicians was great and very helpful. I went in today to try to buy a new pair of prescription sunglasses. They did not want to sort them as my prescription was 'out of date' which I understand. However I was told to wait 5-10 minutes for the Optometrist to review the prescription, but had to wait 40 mins. Went for a contact lens test. The appointment had been booked incorrectly, the optician was pompous and disinterested and appeared to think I was an idiot for wanting a particular type of lens to suit my lifestyle needs; I could only trial the lenses if I paid £50 for a fitting even though I've worn contact lenses for years, or I had to set up a direct debit there and then. Small washer to corner 3mm small broke. Sent back. Said would take 2 to 3 weeks. NINE WEEKS LATER these glasses not returned. For the record they are not repaired either as I was asked for over £340 for repair. Have been badgering for their return......still not got back. Head office could not do more than refer back to branch. I broke my glasses so I went to VE on the assumption that I would get a replacement pair the same day as my test, only to discover part way through the procedure that they no longer had in store labs except at the very large branches and the glasses would take about 10 days.  i pre paid £60 for 30 lots of contacts. I came in 3 times (which were oppointments I was given by staff) then sent away without my contacts! I received contacts 2 months later, went back in as the colours I ordered were WRONG! So I had given 40 back for exchange of the right colour which I was told would be sent out by post to me! I visited the Bedford store for a contact lens consultation. After having lasik 14 years ago I now have need of glasses for distance and a slight reading prescription. Had a free eye test voucher from vision Express and decided to have my eyes tested since the last time I had one done was more than 2years ago and was looking forward to buying new pairs of glasses at the end of the month.
