“Rude, misleading staff at the branch and utterly useless ”

I urgently needed daily use contact lens, but unfortunately my last eye test was out of date and I required an eye test and a another contact lens test. I called the Ealing branch, who gave me a 3pm appointment, this went great and the politicians was great and very helpful. “Complete rubbish customer service”

I went in today to try to buy a new pair of prescription sunglasses. They did not want to sort them as my prescription was 'out of date' which I understand. However I was told to wait 5-10 minutes for the Optometrist to review the prescription, but had to wait 40 mins. I tried phoning the shops phone number whilst there to hurry things up..... no reply after 30 rings. “Pompous and expensive”

Went for a contact lens test. The appointment had been booked incorrectly, the optician was pompous and disinterested and appeared to think I was an idiot for wanting a particular type of lens to suit my lifestyle needs; I could only trial the lenses if I paid £50 for a fitting even though I've worn contact lenses for years, or I had to set up a direct debit there and then. “totally unreliable. Out of control. VERY POOR SERVICE”

Small washer to corner 3mm small broke. Sent back. Said would take 2 to 3 weeks. NINE WEEKS LATER these glasses not returned. For the record they are not repaired either as I was asked for over £340 for repair. Have been badgering for their return......still not got back. Head office could not do more than refer back to branch. “The name is now misleading”

I broke my glasses so I went to VE on the assumption that I would get a replacement pair the same day as my test, only to discover part way through the procedure that they no longer had in store labs except at the very large branches and the glasses would take about 10 days. Had I known that when booking, I would have caught a train to Bristol where the service is still offered. I waited, and waited for my glasses.  i pre paid £60 for 30 lots of contacts. I came in 3 times (which were oppointments I was given by staff) then sent away without my contacts! I received contacts 2 months later, went back in as the colours I ordered were WRONG! So I had given 40 back for exchange of the right colour which I was told would be sent out by post to me! Decided to try a different optician when I moved,eye not thoroughly as spec savers they not have computer take pictures back of eyes which is important in my case,as someone mentioned the prices before I picked a frame was told lenses etc was £255,went to Tesco all in with discount £125,but did have a couple of problems 2weeks on lenses fell out lenses was to small,they replace lenses 2 months later one of screws snapped lenses fell out 3 months on okay so far,but but back to spec savers for… Read Full Review

I visited the Bedford store for a contact lens consultation. After having lasik 14 years ago I now have need of glasses for distance and a slight reading prescription. After visiting them I was told my best bet was multifocals for which I was given to trial and take home. 5 minutes in the shop in. Then told to come back in 2 weeks time. Had a free eye test voucher from vision Express and decided to have my eyes tested since the last time I had one done was more than 2years ago and was looking forward to buying new pairs of glasses at the end of the month. “Price promise”

If you can find your glasses or lenses eleswhere for less, but not online, we'll refund the difference. That's the VE promise. But just try to get any money out of them; no chance. Suddenly you need to provide quotes from offline suppliers on headed paper. Next, they bamboozle you with excuses about specifications being different. Wish I'd read the reviews first! But do I have a longer delay than the other poor reviewers? Glasses ordered on 24 July not ready a month later when I returned from holiday on 24 August. Story is that the lenses were rejected by the lab on 17th August and have been re-ordered theoretically arriving in another 7/10 days, mid September. We started using vision express because they would make prescription glasses in 2 hours. We ordered a pair for our son EIGHT WEEKS ago. They have not arrived. Shop says they will be ready in a week, which is what they said when we asked after three, four, five, six and seven weeks.
