Excellent store, pity about some particular members of staff! Recent visit atrocious - the girl on the till carried on talking to another member of staff all the while I was being served. Apart from "put your card in" these were the only words she uttered specifically to me! Where do you find these people? “online service not fit for purpose”

Ordered cat litter delivery 7 weeks ago. Took my money straight away but aside from order confirmation heard nothing about delivery. Have chased up by phone and been promised call backs but none of my calls have been returned. No one has apologised or even given me any indication of whether the order could be fulfilled. Given up now as they clearly aren't interested. Have asked for order to be cancelled and a refund now, which might take 10 working days! Complete waste of time… Read Full Review

“Disgusting service”

Just received my delivery - a foldable desk ordered online (£16.99). I wish I read feedbacks before ordering. As soon as the delivery driver was off the sights I realised - not even having fully unpacked - that it's not right. I was given an old dusty and faulty model which must have been gathering dust at the warehouse for donkey's years. The desk is supposed to rest on a frame and two separate legs. The frame has got some hard plastic parts - unlike rubber rings on the frame as advertised… Read Full Review

An update to the story above. On the same day I submitted my complaint via Poundstretcher website. Amazingly I received response the same day - but that was the only amazing thing in this whole story. I was asked to send pictures of the table proving my point - which I did - straight away. I that was that. I didn't hear from them for a month.

I have a very busy life and work long hours, so cannot sacrifice all my spare time fighting with Poundstretcher. But last week I finally found time - to submit another complaint via website. CS representative called straight away - and said the other person who responded 1st time round has left the company (do I care??). He provided his personal e-mail address and I managed to re-sent him pictures. He then said he will arrange a courier to pick it up.

The rep was very cocky and patronising; he talked to me if we were talking some personal business trying to talk me down. Opting for courier collection meant waiting a week for my next days off - and then spending unknown time waiting for it - which wasn't my cup of tea. But the only alternative he could suggest that I find my own courier or send it by post myself. Neither way was perfect but short of time to get couriers I agreed for collection. Ha! I knew it. The courier -Interlink - was supposed to pick the table yesterday between 10:00-17:00. I received confirmation text 10:15. They didn't. I was given no reference number by CS person who booked the courier so could not track it. This is beyond disbelief. This is not some first ever historic online transaction in human history - we are in 21st century - and for this to happen takes a lot of collective rotten attitude - from a bunch of people at Poundstretcher, and then some more from Interlink.

“Could be better”

The way I am treated because I have autism is outrageous and can sue this company for disability discrimination there's no door handle for the door in the disabled toilets instead there's actual scissors in the door to use for a handle. I don't feel customers are being treated fairly in this organization of work because all of them that work there have had no training given and thus can't answer customer questions. “AVOID THEIR 'HYUNDAI' ELECTRIC FIRES”

Hyundai sounds like a good make. £119.99 sounds like a fabulous price for a curved black glass flame effect wall-mounted fire with 1kW and 2kW settings and remote control. I bought one of these fires, but unfortunately didn't install it straight away. Once installed, however, it lasted 3 months before the flame effect sounded like a kid on a drum kit!! “Electrocution Risk!”

I purchased small hair straighteners from Poundstretchers. The first time I used them, the plug disintegrated in my hands as I unplugged them. Thankfully I had had the forethought to firstly switch off at the socket mains, otherwise there is little doubt that I may have suffered electrocution, and probable burns to my hand. Follow-up comment: It pays to be persistent. Trading Standards did get involved and warned the branch about their shortcomings and lack of interest in my complaint. They took a random sample of the items and tested them. I was eventually offered compensation by the company which I accepted.

Placed order on the 15/11/14. Did get an immediate email reply confirming order. Nothing since then. 10 days later, no promised confirmation of dispatch or tracking number. Order turned up this morning! Poundstretcher would have saved themselves a negative review if communication was better! They state in their initial confirmation email that they will email to say when the order is dispatched and give a tracking number so that the order can be followed. This did not happen and resulted in the worry as to what was happening as money had left banj account. Improve your communication Poundstretcher and the reviews may improve. Happy with the goods purchased, everything is as ordered. If you are thinking of ordering online then just be aware that you won't have much idea of what is happening, where the order is or when it may arrive. Seems it will get there in the end!

The service is appalling. I placed an order 1 week ago and heard nothing about delivery. I emailed them, no reply, i phoned them and left my name and number for a return call, no return call. I recently shopped at Pound stretchers in Ashington as found that the employees were extremely cheeky and rude. I went to checkout and said thank you I saw a friend and went over to talk to her. “Working here is hellish”

I joined the company when i was 17, was all good to start with, worked 12 hours a week on a 4 hour contract. Then after Christmas I was cut down to 8 hours, then 4. The employees were expected to complete 8 hours work in a 4 hour shift, under terrible management and working conditions, the amount of health and safety violations is unprecedented, from blocked fire exits and broken glass and rubbish on the warehouse floor to using fire extinguishers as door stops and selling out of date… Read Full Review

Poundstretcher robin park Wigan as always been one of my favourite shops, I have been a loyal customer for years the staff have always been very helpful and kind and worked there for many years but recently all the staff and faces have changed, and now they are not welcoming, rude and look really scruffy and in there dirty uniforms with there hair everywere most of no name badges most of them looked hung over on my visit today (dark haired girls) the boys seemed ok though they were helping… Read Full Review

“Staff with attitude! ”

This is about the Bletchley store - asked for the price of an item. The staff member was very rude! Behaved as though he was doing me a favour. One would have thought I was there asking for a handout and not to spend my own money! What made it worse was that this was supposed to be the supervisor or manager. It's disgraceful and poundstretcher ought to train their staff better. He behaved like I was inferior to him and me being a black woman made it more upsetting.
