    Good Points: Can order goods online.


    Bad Points: Very poor communications.
    Unhelpful staff.
    Very short notice of delivery.


    General comments: I ordered a desk online frim Index to be delivered to my new flat into which I was moving in less than a week. The online ordering system did not give an indication of the delivery time, it simply said the goods would be delivered in 2 days or in 14 days. I received an email confirming the order and I replied to inform them that I could not take delivery before 15th October as I would not have moved into the new flat. They replied to this email saying the desk would be delivered the next day (13th October).

    I rang the "help"line to again explain that this was not suitable, only to be told that they could not alter delivery nor cancel the order. The agent I spoke to refused to allow me to speak to a supervisor. I explained that I had a statutory right to cancel the order but she said I "couldn't". She also said they "couldn't" contact the delivery driver to ask them not to deliver.

    Even if I had have been living at the delivery address an email saying the goods are being delivered tomorrow together with a policy that means it is too late to amend or cancel your order by this time, is completely unreasonable.

    I have contacted Index again to complain and I'm awaiting contact from them. I don't think this is going to help the current owners of my new flat who will be bothered with a delivery that isn't for them when they are trying to move out.
