“Terrible service, do not order appliances from BHSdirect!”

I received a text message last night informing me that my delivery would be received between 7-9am this morning which i was pleased with rather than having to wait around all day, however at 7.20am i noticed a card had been put through the door saying they tried to deliver and no one was in- although they didnt ring the bell!! Clearly I cannot be expected to watch the front door for 2hours! I called the delivery company to see if the driver could come back as it had only been 5minutes prior... (read more)

I won't go into the details but after being sent a pair of shoes in the wrong size, i had to re-order and pay up front! they sent me the wrong size again!!!! they also didn't apply the discount they were supposed to and charged me full price. I have ordered a Whirly floor lamp from BHS, 12 days later I did not receive it and had to call up the company to check why. It turned out that the lamp was damaged in transit so was returned to the warehouse. No one has called me to inform me of anything. I got a refund and had to order another one on the phone because they could not resend out a new lamp for me on the same order (?). I took my father shopping today in the Birmingham City Centre Store, from the minute we got in there we thought we had entered the local disco ! the music was so loud we could not hear ourselves think or talk. “BHS Returns Sharp Practice”

BHS lost me as a customer for life today. Took back an item I was given as a present. It was too small. I had the receipt (£45). I went to my local store and selected a number of items to the value of £53. Went to the customer service counter expecting to pay the extra £8. But was told no, the item I was returning was now on sale for £25 and that was all they would credit me for.!!! Well BHS, I consider this sharp practice. Hello if you have your receipt showing the full price was paid they have to fefund that to you evan if the items are now in the sale ! i wuld have asked for the manager ! .. i would think your statutory rights have been breached

I had the misfortune to purchases a washer drier form BHS direct. This turned out to be the worst decision I have ever made when buying an appliance on line. I paid for installation and collection of my old appliance, which is clearly stated on their website, will be carried out at the time of delivery. “No BHS direct customer service after purchase of Acer...”

After three months use of my Acer laptop, one of the key came of the keyboard. The Acer laptops was under guaranty and I phoned BHS customer service in hope that would sort out my keyboard issue. I ordered two lights on 1 Oct from bhs Click and Collect expecting them to be delivered to the nearest store in no more than 10 days, as explained on the website. Advantages: Odd bargains, better choice and quality than a supermarket Disadvantages: high prices Department stores are on the way out it seems. These stores sell everything but at inflated prices you can spend hours in them looking around so they all have restaurants and toilets in them. “Worst service ever!”

Be warned, when they list an item as available it doesn't mean it actually is. My order got delayed and delayed a fortnight at a time with no apparent hope of it ever turning up. They offer no compensation, no viable alternative and just basically told me hard lines. Left without a fridge or freezer for a month now with a pregnant wife and young child. Brilliant!!! ordered all my wedding outfits over 4 weeks ago costing over 800 pounds. Asked for them to be delivered to store which takes 5 - 10 days max. After phone calls and visits to the shop i was then informed they tried to deliver to another address and got sent back to the factory and was put back on the website and resold so most of my stuff went out of stock. I ordered a BHS lamp online and when it came in its battered box the shade was missing! Despite 5 emails, 3 phone calls (where I was left hanging on for 45 minutes), another recorded message saying they were busy and to ring back later and proceeded to cut me off and then when I finally got through I was told to expect a phone call when they had contacted the courier - NOTHING. 6 weeks later when the sofa come it was clearly poor quality.
cushons sink etc etc the worst sofa i have ever seen.
we took out insurance on the sofa after phone call after phone call and told that these kind of sofas are suppose to last only 6 mths (really) someone came out and had a look he wrote his report and we are still waiting after a number of phonecalls and no one calling back.

This company is a disgrace, there is zero level of customer service, the staff and rude and surly, tell you they will call back and never do. Even their managers do not seem to care. Clearly their client base is far to large if they can afford to lost customers on this scale. After ordering a £700 bed and £3000 sofa, I have now cancelled my order due to the rude and unhelpful lack of customer service over the phone. Only problem is, as I ordered online, it will take up to ten days to get a reund so I do not have access to my money to purchase elsewhere. Use this store at your peril.

Be very wary to buy online at BHS!! I bought item, received it, and the colour was completely different to the sample. I returned the item, BHS acknowledged receipt, but never refunded me. 3 Telephone calls later, and still no refund, I escalated it to a claim with Paypal. I finally received my money back after a month, thanks to Paypal. BHS did not even bother to answer my email query. I will never use this site again! Items ordered and accepted, payment made and accepted, conformation e-made recieved all looking well only item didn't appear. Finally phoned their helpline where I was 2nd in line, had to wait 10 mins to be answered where the helpful lady informed me my order had been cancelled but BHS just hadn't bothered to let me know! No reason.

I would not recomend this site to anyone, BHS is a large organisation a should be able to offer a better service than this. (read more)

Last year on the 13th March 09 I went into BHS in the trafford centre, Barton Square. I tripped over items left on the floor. The shop removed the items before witnesses could see. I injured my wrist and arm and was off work for over a year. The arm still needs surgury. The shop manager was dishonest about the whole matter. No compensation was paid. Why does everyone in the UK look for compensation? I am sorry that Mark has had such a problem, but surely the manager removed the goods to stop other mishaps, and not as a sneaky action. I hope that would be the case. Were the goods not visible?

Mark Dell. Yes I thought that just after the accident. I saw the manager carry off the items. I didn't say any thing to her because I thought she was moving them to prevent another accident. Unfortunatly when my solicitor made enquiries, the manager denied the items where ever there to fall over. She also falsified the accident book. she failed to report the incident to the HSE which was required according to RIDDOR code of practce if a person is tsaken to hospital from the sight.

Regarding the comment from the guest on this site about my accident. The comment saying that I am young and well versed in compensation matters and saying I should put it down to experience. I am 48 years old. If you have an accident in a shop and are off work for 9 months, It effected my income. If you have a mortgage to pay and you have house hold bills to pay, you can't write to these companies and say "I've had an accident and can't pay so you will have to put it down to experienc", The shop manager lied and denied regarding this accident. Perhaps the manager should be sacked, she can put it down to experience. This shop does not take responsibilty for accidents.

The company is great as long as you go into the store to purchase items.

The online shop is a different matter, if you want to purchase a top they do not give the length. I am a tall person so the length is of vital importance to me. They specify petite size but do not give the measurements. When you buy online you buy blind, so sizes are of the utmost importance and as much information regarding the material as possible. I have had such a bad experience with the bhs credit card , it has put me off from shopping in the store.
I opened a a/c to get the 20% off in April paid £170.40 in full when the a/c arrived. then spent another £112. I was in hospital for 30 hours and gave my husband the card to lock away, i had a phone call 19.30 hours to say security wanted to talk to me i was not sure it was B.H.S, with all the fraud going on, they told me to ring them however my husband was out and i did not know... The attitude to customers has definitely changed for the worse in this store. I recently purchased an item of clothing from BHS in the sale. As it had a black mark on, I had an extra 10% discount. However, when I got home to look for the washing instructions I noticed it was a very large size. It had been on an incorrect hanger, and there was no visible size on the neck or tag. I bought a pair of glamorous dress earings from BHS and am very pleased with my purchase.
They were only £7.00 and when I got to the till they were actually less and only cost £5.00.
There were no queues and plenty of staff on hand for help if you needed it.
I must admit that I only found the earings my accident as I would not have thought to look in BHS for dress jewellery, but there you go - they had exactly what I was looking for and at the right price! (read more)

Over the years BHS has to me been a good safe choice for the whole family to browse around for nice quality items, so I was very disappointed with the fact that when I went to have a look at the range of goods for Christmas ideas I was mortified to find a virtually 'X' rated 'Adult' range of goods.

As BHS is a department store, they cater to a wide range of people. these products only appear in larger stores, and are situated within the ladies and gents area of the gift shop, always kept away from the childrens gifts. These products are not meant to offend or embarrass, just provide a giggle or two to the people buying them (and to the staff putting them out when they first arrive in store) This year in particular, these products were placed on higher shelves, so little children couldn't see them. Its the same principal as adult magazines in a newsagents, which are usually full of kids buying sweets.
