Just got back from the houda golf hotel yesterday, wasnt impressed on how long we had to wait till we got into our rooms, over 5 bloody hours, the dinner hall was rubbish, not alot of selection for my young children, unless they had pasta or chips for 2 weeks, flies bloody paradise, our bed sheets got changed once in 2 weeks, the tunis holiday makers were sods, our waiter ali was very rude too, had to take my daughter to the doctors today because she is so ill, the only good thing about that... Houda Golf and Beach Hotel. September 2012 If you require a holiday with reasonable service, reasonable food and the opportunity to get some sleep at night, DO NOT book in to this hotel. This is a cheap hotel trying to make a profit from the all inclusive market by cutting corners at every opportunity. Please be aware, that, at this hotel “in inclusive” includes swarms of flies and food poisoning. Any one booking into this hotel does so at their own risk. Thomas Cook should be ashamed... Went to the Houda Hotel last year in early August and was not dissapointed. The entrance to the hotel is something out of a movie!
Came with 3 other people.
The all inclusive deal is very good, food is available most of the time, all the junk you can eat. The food aint too bad if your expectations arent sky high. Entertainment was GREAT. They did a wicked Micheal Jackson tribute and added loads of backdrops and smoke to fit the dances.
The hotel room was basic but clean and conditioned.... (read more)

We visit Tunisia yearly, sometimes twice a year, we always stay in The Abou Sofiane in Port el Kantaoui, after our stay this year and during the Volcano issue we were transferred by Thomas Cook, to The Houda Beach in Skanes for one week.
Oh My God, what an awful place. To be fair the grounds are great, the gardens colourful and the pool area really fab! But the rooms were awful, dirty, smelly...just awful! The toilet leaked, the shower curtain had totally lost its 'water-proof quality' so... (read more)

My partner and I have just returned from The Houda Beach Hotel in Skanes after an extended stay due to the Volcano stuff! The Hotel was clean and tidy as were the rooms. The Staff were great and the Animation team were fab (never forget seeing Willy and Mido dressed as Batman and Robin riding a mule around the lovely ground!). These boys and girls worked so hard to keep everyone amused and the kids seemed to loved them.
The only down side was the food which seemed fine when we fristed... (read more)

Just returned from Houda Golf & Beach Club after spending 14 nights there.Hotel looks fabulous from outside. Some of the rooms are ok ours was very basic. No view, corridors were very narrow and dark at night. The food was terrible as was the resturant, it was stuffy and the heat was unbearable at all times. The drinks were always warm.We were bitten and had upset stomachs for 5 days. However the italian resturant was beautiful and so was he pizza resturant.Needless to say we will not be... Good points, An english lady who has worked there for 16yrs, and the Thomas Cook rep. Bad points, although we did tip most staff they also try getting you to give them more by constantly complaining to you, one waiter spent at least 4 days trying to get my husband to give him his trainers. One flower boy asked for money so he could pay his boss, this is not the sort of thing I wish to contend with on holiday as I have saved for over 12 months to pay for it, I assume I should be allowed to... The queue for food was ridiculous. By the time you had queued for chips the queued again for your meat your meal ended up being cold. The carvery was a joke. There were approx 300 people in the restaurant and every one wanted chips but they only had 2 places were the chips were served. The chips basically lasted about 3 or 4 mins then you had to wait until the chef brought/cooked some more.
The entertainment was basic. No professional acts on, it was the animation team trying there best... (read more)

This was a very good complex if you like golf? The weather was fantastic in May. We always played golf in the morning at 8 am but were looking forward to the pool. It's rated as a 3 star but has was excellent value for money. I went with my lad who was aged 15 at the time. But overall people were very friendly but what was quite amusing was if you played golf if you lost your balls which was quite a few they sold you them back? (read more)

Overall we had a fantastic time, it was our third time to Tunisia, I do love the country but our first time to Skanes and first all inclusive. We have just booked for Sept 2007 and can't wait. Too many people have a blinkered view of Tunisia, yes there are some unscrupulous people but in general you are perfectly safe, safer in fact than in some of the Spanish resorts. I really suggest you do the Arabian Feast night and the Camel Caravan, great fun. We also did the trip to Tunis and Carthage, which was good and interesting to get out and see the countryside a bit, although 1.5 hours each way in the coach was a little dull.

We were greeted by the staff and the animation team, then we had lunch, the food wasn't the best but for a 3 star hotel catering for all nationalities you don't expect the best, the accommodation was very nice indeed, the beds were a bit hard but we coped, the weather was brilliant at around 35 degrees... The 3 stars are all it's worth but if you don't expect to be waited on hand and foot then it's not a problem. We couldn't wait to get home from the Skanes Houda Golf & Beach Club in Tunisia. It was one of the worst all inclusives I've ever been too. The food was the same for tea as it was at dinner, and more or less the same every day. The hotel was far too overcrowded for the size of it, and the pool was so packed you couldn't get in for a swim most of the time. The so-called entertainment was terrible, what bit there was. Right, let us get started...
May we just start by saying a lot of the Bad reviews of the Houda Golf & Beach Club Hotel are very exaggerated or false. We are a young couple from the North East(if that helps), who decided to go on a nice, relaxing but fun holiday...and we have to say it scored all three. We were quite dubious about going to Tunisia for a while, because it's the furthest we've ever been and never really thought about it as a holiday destination. But the hotel and it's staff...
