Just returned from a 10 day Holiday at the Sahara Beach Hotel

Good points. The entertainment staff were excellent

Bad points. The food was poor, the accommodation is very tiny (if their are three of you don't even consider sharing one room)

You need to be up at 7.00 am to get a lounger, staff will provide you with a mattress for the lounger, Don't be tempted to tip them for the whole week in one go, they will just come back every day for the same amount.

Drinks, a very pathetic and time consuming system exists. Stand in a line for beers, get beers and then stand in another line for wines and spirits, then stand in another line for soft drinks and or coffees. The Snack bar that serves food all day is as far from the majority of the loungers as it is possible to be.

Trips, don't book the Carthage trip. You don't actually get to Carthage, instead they take you to the ruins of some Roman baths and you still only get 45 minutes to explore. Sidi Bou Said is just a shopping centre with white houses and blue windows

Just got back today and booking for next year, was there 2 years ago and loved it then. There was 8 of us ages ranging from 12 to 41 and we all had a ball. It may not be the plushest of hotels, but I believe it's getting refurbished next year.
The animation team were absolutely fantastic, hard working bunch, always entertaining and some of the shows they put on were great, especially the lion king. The photographer in the hotel is amazing too, came back with over 100 photo's of my family which a ...

I have just returned from a week at this hotel and I have to say it was the best holiday I have been on. Yes the rooms may be a little dated ( but I didn't pay to go and sit in my room) However they were cleaned everyday. The pools are varied. You have a kids pool, a quiet adult pool and then the entertainment pool. The animation team spend most of the day at the entertainment pool and have all sorts of things going on like darts and water polo and silly games ( I normally lost and ended up in t ...

The animation team are fantastic and keep everyone entertained the Micheal Jackson show is the best. We have meet many people at the Sahara beach and we are all going there together this year. The hotel has loads of land and many things to do, it's not the cleanest place but it is great. The pool is some amazing, and also the horse riding which was very cheap like lots of things. But the riding, they really do look after you and they have a very clean yard. The food is the same every night which gets quite annoying because your eating the same.

Just got back from the hotel Sahara Beach, went with my 3 children, partner and in-laws, we had a fantastic time. The weather was not great for the first few days but was lovely the last couple of days we were there. The animation team made my holiday the most memorable, especially Medi and Sam who entertained my kids. The waiters in the restaurant were fantastic, they always had a smile on there face. Had a great time dancing with some of the animation team, my partner was shocked, he did not t ...

There were 4 adults and 2 children in our party, ages from 5-48 years. We went for 2 weeks.
On arrival and during our stay we were shocked this hotel was an iberostar 3*.. It was basic.
The entertainment was an evening show and amateurish in the outside entertainment area.
the animation team work hard but were situated at the deepest pool, (too deep for young children) during the day.
Our bedding was changed 2 times during our 2 week stay and that is after I complained to the rep.
    Some of the re ...

The pool area at the Sahara Beach in Monastir is one of the best I've seen, and the staff are always cleaning. The waiters in the restaurant were excellent. I enjoyed the food, as I like spicy food, but my son was not so keen on the restaurant meals, but he did enjoy food from the outdoor bars. The water sports were excellent, and the cheapest I've seen.

There were too many Germans who seemed to get preference over the English, French and Italian, and their own locals. The bar staff inside we ...

We were a couple in our 20's looking for a holiday which was cheap and relaxing for lazing by the pool all day, and the Sahara Beach hotel in Monastir was ideal for this. If you want somewhere where you can go out clubbing or go on lots of trips, then this isn't really a great resort for you. Sousse is better for this.

Overall, we would return to this hotel again for a cheap holiday out of season where you can guarantee nice weather, but I wouldn't necessarily want to return to Tunisia for a ...

Had a holiday for a week as a couple in Sahara Beach, the largest hotel in North Africa on an all-inclusive basis. First impressions is that the hotel is HUGE- it has over 1,000 rooms. The staff overall are friendly, apart from the 24hour bar staff who couldn't smile even if there was a party of streakers strolling by. Look after your room cleaner and they will tidy and clean your room every day (it's meant to be only 3 days in the week!). There are no tea/coffee making facilities within rooms a ...

Monastir Sahara Beach is a three star plus hotel with a capacity of about 3,000 guests. Ideal for all classes i.e family, disabled and singles.

Great entertainment as supplied by the Animation Team.

4 pools, 3 outdoors and 1 indoor pool.

Plenty of bars and snack bars.

Easy to upgrade from half board to all inclusive. Great rates too!

We had a lovely holiday at the Sahara Beach in Monastir. The rep was very helpful and informative, as were the reception staff. The waiters were very happy and helpful. We had glorious sunshine (in November). It was larger than any other place we have stayed in, but a really enjoyable holiday.

We arrived at Sahara Beach on August 3rd for a two week stay, after a very short transfer we hit the first of the few minor problems we experienced... we arrived at midnight and at that time the airport and hotel money changing facilities were closed, this meant there was no way to get a drink (even water) until the next morning, we were not even able to get our AI cards until breakfast time the next morning. A small welcome pack in the room including a couple bottles of water would have been s ...

Monastir Sahara Beach - Overall this hotel is wonderful!
Once at the airport it takes a matter of minutes to get to this hotel. Once at the hotel you have to have your photo taken to go onto a card to let you begin your all inclusive holiday. You then have to carry this card with you throughout your holiday as it entitles you to all your food and drink through out your stay. I would prefer a wristband as it is easier and you cant forget it!
The rooms are lovely, you do not get a tv but there a ...

I only have a few bad points about The Sahara Beach Hotel in Monastir, Tunisia.

The animation team where lovely, but on Tuesday the 2nd of August 2005, some of them left. I don't know whether they were sacked, or if they just left, but they are out of jobs now and can't earn any money at this busy time of the year to provide for their families. I can understand you doing it if it was at the end of the season, but in the middle was wrong. Then you bring in another animation team on Tuesday n ...
