Just returned from a 10 day Holiday at the Sahara Beach Hotel
Good points. The entertainment staff were excellent
Bad points. The food was poor, the accommodation is very tiny (if their are three of you don't even consider sharing one room)
You need to be up at 7.00 am to get a lounger, staff will provide you with a mattress for the lounger, Don't be tempted to tip them for the whole week in one go, they will just come back every day for the same amount.
Drinks, a very pathetic and time... (read more)

Just got back today and booking for next year, was there 2 years ago and loved it then. There was 8 of us ages ranging from 12 to 41 and we all had a ball. It may not be the plushest of hotels, but I believe it's getting refurbished next year. The animation team were absolutely fantastic, hard working bunch, always entertaining and some of the shows they put on were great, especially the lion king. The photographer in the hotel is amazing too, came back with over 100 photo's of my family... (read more)

I have just returned from a week at this hotel and I have to say it was the best holiday I have been on. Yes the rooms may be a little dated ( but I didn't pay to go and sit in my room) However they were cleaned everyday. The pools are varied. You have a kids pool, a quiet adult pool and then the entertainment pool. The animation team spend most of the day at the entertainment pool and have all sorts of things going on like darts and water polo and silly games ( I normally lost and ended up... (read more)

Although a nice generally friendly place an mostly liked it I would not go there again. MONASTIR airport a nightmare coming in country, but hotel fab. Although weather very mixed, holidayed 23 march to 30 march 08. Two of my children got a sick bug an eldest son fell round pool split his head open. Needed emergency doctor which cost us £20 before would even see him then £15 for antibiotic cream. Told see own doctor when get home Had to pay even though had insurance. But have to get this in,... The hotel has loads of land and many things to do, it's not the cleanest place but it is great. The pool is some amazing, and also the horse riding which was very cheap like lots of things. But the riding, they really do look after you and they have a very clean yard. The food is the same every night which gets quite annoying because your eating the same. (read more)

Just got back from the hotel Sahara Beach, went with my 3 children, partner and in-laws, we had a fantastic time. The weather was not great for the first few days but was lovely the last couple of days we were there. The animation team made my holiday the most memorable, especially Medi and Sam who entertained my kids. The waiters in the restaurant were fantastic, they always had a smile on there face. Had a great time dancing with some of the animation team, my partner was shocked, he did... (read more)

There were 4 adults and 2 children in our party, ages from 5-48 years. We went for 2 weeks.
On arrival and during our stay we were shocked this hotel was an iberostar 3*.. It was basic.
The entertainment was an evening show and amateurish in the outside entertainment area.
the animation team work hard but were situated at the deepest pool, (too deep for young children) during the day.
Our bedding was changed 2 times during our 2 week stay and that is after I complained to the rep.

The pool area at the Sahara Beach in Monastir is one of the best I've seen, and the staff are always cleaning. The waiters in the restaurant were excellent. I enjoyed the food, as I like spicy food, but my son was not so keen on the restaurant meals, but he did enjoy food from the outdoor bars. The water sports were excellent, and the cheapest I've seen.
There were too many Germans who seemed to get preference over the English, French and Italian, and their own locals. The bar staff inside... (read more)

We were a couple in our 20's looking for a holiday which was cheap and relaxing for lazing by the pool all day, and the Sahara Beach hotel in Monastir was ideal for this. If you want somewhere where you can go out clubbing or go on lots of trips, then this isn't really a great resort for you. Sousse is better for this.
Overall, we would return to this hotel again for a cheap holiday out of season where you can guarantee nice weather, but I wouldn't necessarily want to return to Tunisia for... (read more)

Had a holiday for a week as a couple in Sahara Beach, the largest hotel in North Africa on an all-inclusive basis. First impressions is that the hotel is HUGE- it has over 1,000 rooms. The staff overall are friendly, apart from the 24hour bar staff who couldn't smile even if there was a party of streakers strolling by. Look after your room cleaner and they will tidy and clean your room every day (it's meant to be only 3 days in the week!). There are no tea/coffee making facilities within... (read more)

Monastir Sahara Beach is a three star plus hotel with a capacity of about 3,000 guests. Ideal for all classes i.e family, disabled and singles.
Great entertainment as supplied by the Animation Team.
4 pools, 3 outdoors and 1 indoor pool.
Plenty of bars and snack bars.
Easy to upgrade from half board to all inclusive. Great rates too! (read more)

We had a lovely holiday at the Sahara Beach in Monastir. The rep was very helpful and informative, as were the reception staff. The waiters were very happy and helpful. We had glorious sunshine (in November). It was larger than any other place we have stayed in, but a really enjoyable holiday. (read more)

We arrived at Sahara Beach on August 3rd for a two week stay, after a very short transfer we hit the first of the few minor problems we experienced... we arrived at midnight and at that time the airport and hotel money changing facilities were closed, this meant there was no way to get a drink (even water) until the next morning, we were not even able to get our AI cards until breakfast time the next morning. A small welcome pack in the room including a couple bottles of water would have... (read more)

Monastir Sahara Beach - Overall this hotel is wonderful!
Once at the airport it takes a matter of minutes to get to this hotel. Once at the hotel you have to have your photo taken to go onto a card to let you begin your all inclusive holiday. You then have to carry this card with you throughout your holiday as it entitles you to all your food and drink through out your stay. I would prefer a wristband as it is easier and you cant forget it!
The rooms are lovely, you do not get a tv but there... (read more)

I only have a few bad points about The Sahara Beach Hotel in Monastir, Tunisia.
The animation team where lovely, but on Tuesday the 2nd of August 2005, some of them left. I don't know whether they were sacked, or if they just left, but they are out of jobs now and can't earn any money at this busy time of the year to provide for their families. I can understand you doing it if it was at the end of the season, but in the middle was wrong. Then you bring in another animation team on Tuesday... (read more)

Well - What can I say about Monastir Sahara Beach. I am going to be completely honest and obviously this is only my opinion. There are some good things to say but there are some bad things to say. Firstly I wouldn't choose to go back to this hotel - You will understand why after reading this. I would however go back to this area as I did enjoy the holiday.
We arrived after a 2 and a half hour flight. Got driven in a bus to the terminal. It was 1am I might add so we were very tired. Got to... (read more)

Monastir Sahara Beach - Just returned from a week's stay in the Sahara Beach, read some of the reviews before we went and was a little apprehensive before we travelled, but the hotel was great. If you have children they will love it, they will never get bored there is so much to do. The hotel itself is not the most modern in decor but it is clean and tidy and the main reception areas and bars are nice and cool after a day in the sun. As it says in the Iberostar brochure, the rooms are cosy... (read more)

Me and my husband have stayed at Sahara Beach six times in the last two years. We have never experianced any problems. The hotel is very clean, the outdoor pools is an outstanding size and beauty. The staff are really friendly especially Ali the waiter from the Asfar/ skanes bar. The Zoo is in a very good condition for a poor country like Tunisia. As for the food you are not in England so do not expect english food. (read more)

My wife and I have visited Tunisia many times over the past sixteen years and Sahara Beach is without doubt the worst we have stayed in.
If your idea of a good holiday is to be surrounded by hundreds of completely out of control children with foul mouthed parents from first thing in the morning to the eary hours of the following day this is the place for you.
I love children but the sheer number and ill manners of their parents ensured that every area with the exception of the piano bar was... (read more)

Once you arrive at the airport you will be directed to which coach your on, be careful of men trying to get your bags they will want a tip! It only takes a few minutes to get to the hotel so if you're travelling with kids this is good. Once in the hotel you will fill in a card, get your picture took, be offered some lemonade then go to your room. Make sure you have some change, man who takes bag will except a tip!
Id advise you to go the beach as its cooler but be careful of the beach men... (read more)

The Sahara Beach Hotel is very good. Friendly staff throughout. I was there in October and will be there again at the end of May 2005. Have been going there for 14 years, and am well travelled in other countries, stayed at other hotels in Tunisia but always come back, like a second home. I have travelled most of Tunisia except the desert; hope to do that this May. Monastir Sahara Beach is a lovely place, we have just come back it was not very busy only about a quarter full and this was the last week of the easter holidays. We did the Sahara trip which was lovely but very tiring (600 miles in 2 days), rooms where lovely all with sea views. The zoo in the grounds was lovely and the animals were well looked after (1st thing I checked plenty of food and water and shade, Muslims aren't known as animal lovers) stables good too horses well looked after. + (read more)

From the moment we arrived we knew that it was not going to be the holiday of a lifetime. Although Sahara Beach was very clean a re-furb would not go a miss! When talking to another guest we decided that it was more of a working mans social club atmosphere and decor. The entertainment was varied although the Skanes bar was designed for the English? Bingo is an experience not to be missed, remember the words 'Aja-Ja' and you will be fine. The rep appeared to be concerned although nothing... (read more)

I loved Sahara Beach. It is great that the holiday reps are friendly and that you can trust them. Also the entertainment was great! Every night they had a different show and before the main show they would have a childrens disco which my two nephews loved! The hotel has facilities for family and teenagers! During the day you would sit around the pool or down the beach which was right outside the resort! Then at night you would get your dinner then make your way to the stage which was... (read more)

I have just recently got back from Tunisia; I stayed at the Sahara Beach Hotel. When you get their, some people will take your luggage to your room while you have a picture taken and you get a swipe card for the time your at this hotel, if your all inclusive you will need this to get drink and food there.
First I will start with the bad points, when you went to order a drink or something to eat you usually have to queue if your all inclusive or not, You still have to line up for your turn... (read more)
