Been driving 27 years this the best car I've had absolutely awesome, road handling... once you have been round the block a few times theres no stopping you. Change oil regularly listen for noisy tappets (adjustable) this car needs driving to be appreciated (put your foot down).

After seeing my first Ford Escort RS1600i around 1983 I thought someone had spruced up an xr3. After a closer inspection I then realized it was a fully blown rs16i and yes I wanted one but one thing was stopping me I was too young. And when I could afford a car I could only stretch to an xr3i. after a while I settled down got married etc and in 2006 I came across an advert RS1600I IN SILVER my eyes opened wide (WOW), I can afford one now I said to myself so I bought it. Since owning the rsi I ha ...

I've got a Ford Escort RS1600i and it's the best car I have owned. It drives superb and the looks are good too. It's fairly easy to maintain for the DIY mechanic but it's hard to find specialist parts, for example coils, sensor leads, ECU etc. Also there's a big rust problem that you have to fight with.

I've owned a few RS's and dozens of other fords over the years but the one that I love and had the most fun in was my RS1600i - it drew attention and got many looks. I always got people coming up to me asking me about it.

I loved the Ford Escort RS1600i so much so that after writing off my first blue example a few years later I bought another red one. They are and always have been a very rare car. I loved the noise and hard ride but the early examples didn't handle as well as the later ones as I found out to my cost. The anti roll bar fitted to the A plate cars improved this.
I believe this car will be a true future classic Ford.

My Ford Escort RS1600i is probably the best car I have owned for drivability and fun! It drives like a race car, with responisive engine, and hard suspension, Has a bit of yaw instabillity, but is proper fun! True 1980s retro icon, Still has loads of street cred and no matter where you go causes interest. This car will also see off more modern cars with bigger engines, I have had my fair share of problems with the ignition system, this is not unusual, but I fixed this with ease, parts are cheap, ...

This is a fantastic machine, very exciting to drive. Nothing happens until it comes on cam at 4000 but then it kicks like a mule. Very noisy - harsh ride - nervous handling! Sweet!

It feels every bit a race car.

I reccomend you fit a decent exhaust and filter for 135 bhp. Mine dyno'd this at P.E.

Much rarer then a turbo and perhaps a little cooler?
