Good Points: Location, location, great, friendly accomodating hosts and staff ;-)--Continental Breakfast, long, hot showers with great water pressure, easy to drive away from parking lot (not as crowded as hotels closer to beach).
Bad Points: People complaining about hotel... Parking $8.00 a day, but that is pretty common in Waikiki, and many hotels charge more... Rooms are small for families/I wouldn't recommend families stay there, unless they book the largest unit...
General comments: Aston Aloha Surf Hotel - We totally loved our nine nights from May 19/04-May 28 Departure...No! It's not the Royal Hawaiian, but for all that it is, who cares? It's a great deal for the money and the Aloha Spirit is very alive at the "Aston Aloha Surf Hotel."
It is a short walk to the beach, near many restaurants, shopping, etc. ... Perry's Smorgasbord is less than a block going toward the Ocean...Great food with very pleasant surroundings ;-) 9.95 for all-you-can-eat dinner -- one of the better dinners we enjoyed...
If one wants to save money, have a clean, comfortable stay, great hosts, and use money that would be spent on pricey hotels by the beach, I highly recommend the Aston Aloha Surf!
I would have given the hotel all 10's but I do know of better deals (money-wise) in condos, so I cannot, but the Aloha Surf does deserve solid 10's for their Aloha Spirit and hospitality! ;-)
