Gothika - There are a lot of parents who let their underage children watch movies that are MA, or even R, if they are younger than 15, and Gothika is one of those movies where I'd strongly recommend they DO NOT do that. Sure enough, some movies are MA or R, and children watch it without any fear. But Gothika is a dark, horrifying, creepy movie which could really mess with a child's mind.
The story is about Doctor Miranda Grey (Halle Berry), a criminal psychologist who wakes up one day as a patient in her own mental institution, after a brief encounter on a stormy night with a strange girl who was standing there naked on the road. When Miranda is accused of brutally murdering her husband, she must prove her sanity to escape her own prison by solving the murder. But the counsellors start believing she is insane after strange things start happening to her body. Only she knows that she is being haunted by the ghost of a troubled girl who seems to be doing everything she can to kill her.
Gothika combines strict adult themes with some violence and a supernatural horror theme to make this dark movie great in its own manner. This movie is rated MA for brief coarse language, brief nudity, some violence, severe adult themes, and the views of aspects of prison life. I wouldn't say MA for this movie, I'd definitely say R. A scary, dark flick, definitely not recommended for children.

Gothika - I went into this film with an open mind. I knew the press for it hadn't been great but I always prefer to see for myself. Why didn't I listen to all the critics who tried to save me from this nightmare? Halle Berry plays a psychiatrist who, after a horrendous car accident, wakes to find herself a patient at her very own hospital. She's then told that she murdered her husband and then there's this pesky ghost that just won't leave her alone. This film really makes very little sense. Gothika is a good stylish modern horror film, with a few twists to seperate it from other recent mediocre horror flicks. The film has a great deal of creepy factor, and the films story draws you in, wanted to know the mysterious events that began the film. Halle Berry gives a strong performance as always, I'd say the only problem with the film is the ending isn't quite as clever as you hope it might be.- Read Matteo01967's review (99 words)

Gothika is a film about a psychiatric doctor and her life, I won't give too much away as I suspect all you horror fans are itching to see it! Not only is this film scary but unlike most other horror/thriller films I have seen it has a great storyline throughout and keeps you guessing!!- Read ExpertOpinionator's review (97 words)
