A more civilised way of moving around your display. I've used many different mice and trackballs, and I must say this one is the most comfortable to use. Its especially at its best when trying to use a laptop on anything other than a desk. I'm suprised that trackballs in general never really took off. I agree. This is (was) a great trackball. I used Kensington's Expert Mouse trackball for several years (owned 3), but got disgusted with the price and drop in quality in latest versions - feels like sand rolling around inside, even new out of box. Bought Microsoft's Trackball Explorer mouse as a cheaper alternative. After some adjustment, found I liked it even BETTER than Kensington's. It didn't cause wrist fatigue/abrasion like Kensington's. Leave it to Microsoft to discontinue one of their best reviewed, highest rated little wonders. Wish they would at least sell the rights to make it to someone else, but that'll never happen.

When I clean the ball and the socket of the Microsoft Trackball Optical PS2/USB mouse, it seems to work sometimes (a little better), but not for long.
In despair, I put a little Vaseline or baby oil on my hands, rub it in well (also on the ball), put the ball back into the socket, and everything works like a charm....

The first Microsoft Trackball Optical PS2/USB I bought was rough as a cob! See my earlier review. I figured since I'd found a way to fix the roughness I'd buy another for my desktop. The new one came in today and the ball action is smooth as silk! Guess the lesson here is -- if she's rough take 'er back! Or send her back if you bought her online but what a pain! My ratings apply to this second one I bought....

Microsoft Trackball Optical PS2/USB: I really love the extra buttons and like a another reviewer wish Logitech made a trackball with this many buttons. I tried to work around the rough ball action by using a rubber thumb tip. I like a trackball for playing video games, but even with the rubber thumb tip the action was so rough I had trouble. I had hoped the roughness would go away with use but that didn't seem to be happening. I bought this trackball for a brand new laptop and this thing was taking...

I bought one of these Microsoft Trackball Optical PS2/USB Computer Mouses because a friend had lent me his for a while and I found it really comfortable and natural. Mice were giving me weirds aches and pains in my hands and I was looking for an alternative.
It's a very comfortable trackball. The trackball itself is operated using the thumb of your right hand (it's not suitable for left handed use) and there are two main mouse-like buttons and a scroll-wheel very much like you would expect...

Being a trackball as well means I can fill my desk with other useless things like cups of coffee and half eaten sandwiches without having to leave room for a mouse to move around....
