Good Points: Good trigger, fair power, not overly heavy, nice sites

Bad Points: Too much plastic, could use a touch more oomph

General comments: I think this Diana 5G pistol has been on the receiving end of some bad press. It is what it is folks, which isn't a gun for dispatching downed varmints or shooting 10 m Olympic matches. What it is good fun for is plinking and casual target practice. Perhaps other reviewers received defective guns but mine is very accurate, and fully capable of dismantling small pinecones at distances greater than 10 meters. The trigger is two stage and adjustable, although the adjustment really only renders it into a long single stage trigger. The sites are a mixture of plastic and metal. My gun came with a scope rail and screws included, which I have not used as of yet. The barrel and receiver has a nickle finish and the grip is made of plastic, as is the endcap. I would like to see a decent wooden grip available for this gun. Plastic is functional, but looks cheap on a pistol that retailed well over $200. Cocking is a bit stiff, as there is no aid device and you are forced to place your hand in front of the barrel site, which cuts leverage considerably. It is manageable, though and I have put in 100+ shot sessions at a go. I believe these guns were rated at 450 fps from RWS, which is more than a bit optimistic. 8.2 grain Meisterkugelns run at around 415 fps over my chronograph, which is just fast enough to cut a fairly neat hole when paper punching. The gun has some recoil to it but nothing serious, just a bit of a jump when firing. The automatic safety is unusually placed and takes a bit of getting used to, but soon becomes second nature. All in all, a very satisfying little plinking gun which can be had at a bargain used due to its being overshadowed by the magnum version RWS currently offers.

I have used this pistol extensively whilst working as a mink trapper for DEFRA. I was issued with this pistol as part of the kit and was expected to dispatch mink with it. It took 5 shots to the head at point blank after that I used to take an My Webley Exocet air rifle instead as that would drop them with one shot.

The good points with the Diana 5G is the fact that you don't have to buy co2,one break of the barrel load and your ready to shoot. So far there are no scope mounts available. In my opinion this is a good gun for the money. It is accurate, quick loading. I would recommend this gun for all serious airgun owners.

This is not the most accurate gun, but for the money, this is the most power with decent accuracy you will get. The adjustments on the trigger allow for "fine-tuning" that will help with accuracy.
I prefer .22 cal. because it allows me to load without looking at the pellet. I have not had any problems with this gun and would buy this brand again.

I have been shooting competition air rifles for many years now, and bought the Diana 5g about 6 years ago, as a hobby pistol. I haven't shot it all that much because the gun is rubbish. Why? because it is very inaccurate. it produces fairly large groups. but what is even worse, is that it shot about 3 feet above the target when I first got it. I have taken it back to the store once, and they admitted the problem. but it still shoots too high have heard and read about this inaccuracy problem from ...

I own a Diana 5G in nickel finish for about 7 years now and I've had a lot of pleasure with it (and still have). The full steel-construction is indestructable , also the nickel coating gives corrosion no chance. The spring pistol is average powered (125 m/s) and has a .177 caliber rifled barrel that breaks open to load. Accuracy up to ten meters is great and the optimal balanced weight gives the best to it. Rear sights are fully adjustable and can be changed between four different types with jus ...
