“Disposable appliances”

★★☆☆☆

written by 111Powell on 11/06/2014

My main complaint is it is very difficult to get spares after you have made the purchase then the warranty runs out after 1 year. A power washer is not something that is used excessively every day over the season when it is then put away in shed /garage till next year by which time the warranty has expired. Getting spares is expensive as BQ stop selling item and do not provide back up service and you have to buy the latest new gadget which again will be "end of line" or obsolete within a short time frame.. This of course is what they want us to do. By making it difficult to repair or replace a part we have to buy again and enter into disposable consumerism. I would like to be able to repair an item rather than throw it away and get the latest piece of soon to be junk. This complaint is as much against BQ as the manufacturers of Pro Performance power washers. Products and Services today are abysmal.

Should the trigger gun fail, the black and decker trigger gun 3761151 from M+P tool super store is an exact replacement at £17.80 with free delivery. Spare /giant do the macallister trigger gun at £36 and you will wait a month for it to arrive

I have the Pro Performance pressure washer and the motor runs ok but the pressure from the pressure washer is ridiculous . What is the issue , who are the manufacturers , it has been used about 4 times in total .

Everything fine to start with, once out of guarantee the problems started... as with other users the water pipe inside the gun cracked, replaced this for £35 Inclusive of delivery, just about managed to clean the decking(16MSq) before oil started to leak from the bottom of the unit, and it packed up!!! For the spec it did appear value for money compared to other products,in hindsight possibly not.

Same as everyone else, my trigger leaked after a couple of uses. Other than that the units pump and motor seem to be ok quality. I found a company called sparesgiant via google who stock a gun that fits, they assured me the guns they have are an aftermaket version of their own design but with the same fitting. I bought a gun and the machine has worked ok since. I was still annoyed that I had to replace parts so soon after I bought the machine though....

When it is working its good enough pressure to do the job, but i have only used it a few times and the trigger handle is now leaking, the twirling gun connection you have to bang it on ground to get it to swirl, the other gun connection the parts at bottom broke it is of no use, i though this washer would last me for years it hasnt lasted long ,the way i feel i dont even want to try and search for replacement parts , think ill buy a Kercher.

Useless as a pressure wash, bought solely for use as a car wash for Snow Foam. Its ideal due to its lower pressure - you can't damage anything.

Please can you advise why my macallister 1700w high pressure washer does not work? We have only used about 3 times and the motor has packed up - we have checked all electric options, i.e plug -fuses - extension leads - and still no motor, this is not a good advert for this product when only used 3 times - very frustrating - and now just out of guarantee. Please advise.
