Bought the 1700W model from B&Q. Used it and thought it was pretty good apart from the hose connector being missing (I had one lying around). Second time I got it out (today) it started but then died almost instantly. Returned it to B&Q expecting a replacement only to wait around half an hour while they tried one after another and found none they had left worked. Very poor, wasted time and petrol money having to return it only to get a refund - B&Q didn't even have the decency to offer an... (read more)

i bought performance pressure washer pro 450 pwa i used it two time to clean my driveway thired time when tried to use it i found the gun was leaking i open the gun and half of rubber o seal was broken in to the pieces i replaced the seal but leaking has not stoped and cannot get replacement. First thing was that hose connection was not tight enough - certainly not an expensive to replace. Like other reviewers, my first gun leaked within the warranty time BUT a replacement gun only lasted about one year (app 6 washes) then I was found out that a spare gun was difficult to find (read more)

Everything fine to start with, once out of guarantee the problems started... as with other users the water pipe inside the gun cracked, replaced this for £35 Inclusive of delivery, just about managed to clean the decking(16MSq) before oil started to leak from the bottom of the unit, and it packed up!!! For the spec it did appear value for money compared to other products,in hindsight possibly not. (read more)

We have had problems with Mac3 since purchased. Had it replaced twice now under guarantee now packed in again out of guarantee period. The jet does not spin so cannot get a proper spray from it. I will throw it away and won't be buying this product again and wonder if any of these jet sprays are meant to last. Someone bought a new gun but that packed in after just 3 uses. (read more)

Bought a MAC3 pressure washer because it looked like a quality product and paid a small fortune for it. It appeared to work well the first year, cars, patios, slabs ect. Used no more than a dozen times. Then it was garaged and brought out this year after a year lying idle because of last years poor weather. Just like other posters on here the handle poured water everywhere.I replaced the [ O } rings inside but it was a waste of time. Replacement cost of new part £40. it's going in the bin... (read more)

looks like my MAC 3 is the same as all the others - water flooding out of the gun and when I switch it on it just runs straight away when it should really just make one rev and go silent until you press the trigger. Very disappointed with this. Actually my third pressure washer (Karcher ones before) which has lasted less than 18 months - total disgrace (read more)

This is a dreadful machine, used it four times and the gun leaked, phoned B&Q, they told me to buy a replacement gun, I did so (not cheap!) used the new attachment twice and it leaked again. I changed the pipe etc still leaked everywhere. These aren't for everyday use, cleaning the car etc so you would expect them to last. wrong! The moral of the story is don't buy "own-brand" products. I agree - I had a PWA 360 from B&Q and ok first year but then gun leaked and then a more serious leak on the pump developed.
I would steer clear of these unless you have a cast iron 3 yr warranty.

Same as all the other reviews!! This product has got to be my biggest waste of money EVER!! Bought the MAC 3 two years ago and it wasn't cheap (around the £300) so thought we were getting a quality machine. Used it once and it did the job but it leaked everywhere. Not being an expert on pressure washers I thought this was normal and cleaned it all down and packed it all away. Didn't use it at all last year. Got it out today to clean the patio/decking. Bought the 360 model 2 years ago and used it twice. The motor runs but now the valve is obviously faulty because no water comes out. Anybody any ideas about repairing it - I don't want to bin £200 worth of equipment if it can be repaired? (read more)

An excellent workhorse, I really can't fault it. BUT . . . I need a spare part for it and B & Q are giving me the run around. The stores do not have stock of spares, I have been given 5 telephone numbers by B & Q Help Desk. 3 of them do not carry spares for Macallister, 1 of them did not know where to get them from and the fifth one only carried Mower spares! Bought a PRO450PWA in '05 and store this in the cupboard under the stairs to avoid any damage caused by low winter temperatures. Used it for the second time this week and experienced a severe pressure loss along with a leaking trigger assembly. Took the trigger assembly apart and found the single 'O' ring seal had split. Sourced replacement 'O' ring seals from very helpful http://www.flowseal.co.uk/ (MOQ of 100 for £6 inc. VAT). Fitted replacement 'O' ring and the pressure washer blew this... (read more)

Moral - never buy cheap it just costs in the long run. B&Q should test these products especially as they are not cheap.

I have a Mac 3 washer from B&Q the same has just happened to me gun leaking I am a plumber and the amount of people that buy bathrooms as well from B&Q they are rubbish the taps are lucky to last 18 months and the time you go back to them they have discontinued them they do not want to know so be carefull what you buy from these people (read more)

for those of you that have the mac3 powerwasher that has a leaking gun my advice is not to dispose of it because the karcher lance and hose screw directly onto it i have one and already done this and now the washer is absolutly perfect and cant fault it i know you all bought them but doing it this way will save you all from throwing them away you will be able to pick a karcher hose and lance up on ebay for just a few quid just try it i did and it saved a lot of frustration and stress good... bought a mac 3 last summer used it twice to clean the patio- got it out of the garage yesterday and started cleaning the patio- 9/4/11- now the handle has started leaking 10/4/11 - i payed about £199 for this heap of junk- if only i had read the reviews first i would never of wasted my money on this item - B&Q should repair all these mac 3 washers for FREE or offer an alternative item for free exchange . DONT BUY - DONT BUY- DONT BUY- YOU WILL BE SORRY.

My Mac3 has only been used three times and now the handle is leaking badly.
It is well out of warranty because I only use it now and then. I am so annoyed especially as the reviews were rubbish and I did not check. I bought on impulse in the store.
After reading the reviews it seems like a waste of time and money having it repaired.

Same as everyone else. Both wands broke withing 6-12 uses. Clearly not fit for purpose and probably a breach of Trades Descriptions Act. I have better things to do than pursue B&Q so I will vote with my feet. No more visits to B&Q, in the end it will be their loss. (read more)

Same complaint as most others - a very badly leaking lance makes the washer totally unusable. However, if you opt to buy cheap, and it was much less expensive than its similar rivals, what can you expect! Even Macallister seem to have abandoned making spare part triggers. You live and learn. Same as everyone else, my trigger leaked after a couple of uses. Other than that the units pump and motor seem to be ok quality. I found a company called sparesgiant via google who stock a gun that fits, they assured me the guns they have are an aftermaket version of their own design but with the same fitting. I bought a gun and the machine has worked ok since. I was still annoyed that I had to replace parts so soon after I bought the machine though.... (read more)

When it is working its good enough pressure to do the job, but i have only used it a few times and the trigger handle is now leaking, the twirling gun connection you have to bang it on ground to get it to swirl, the other gun connection the parts at bottom broke it is of no use, i though this washer would last me for years it hasnt lasted long ,the way i feel i dont even want to try and search for replacement parts , think ill buy a Kercher. Spend more time trying to get the Mac 2 I bought working than actually using it. On/Off switch is totally knackered, lance leaks, pressure cutout stopped working after 3 uses, hose connector keeps popping off. Electrical cable too short, plastic cable hooks broke off. Dont use the soap dispenser, lasts about 10 secs. Pump seal leaks. Zero stars. (read more)

Right out of the box it was faulty.... However I had shipped it to another country and cannot bring it back under warranty.
First fault... the union from the soap container gushed water. Fixed that by sealing off the union.... no soap, but who cares.
Second fault... the Turbo Lance would not allow any water through. Stripped and rejiggled it, it works.
Third fault.... the handle gushes water. It is a pinched seal in the slider mechanism operated ny the trigger. Where I am doesn't seem...

Yet another MAC 2 Pressure washer with a leaking lance trigger after a handful of uses. A neat little brass valve with O rings, which moves in two cheap plastic mouldings to produce the trigger flow effect. A couple of uses and the mouldings wear,crack or distort. A very poor piece of engineering. Like everyone else, I experienced zero help from B & Q. And like everyone else, I expected a better product and better service.
But I do have a Karcher for use elsewhere: brilliant.

Took it back to B&Q for an exchange product but as I had lost my receipt they wanted nothing to do with it. What a joke especially when its obvious the product is a complete piece of rubbish. They OBVIOUSLY KNOW ITS runbbish because they have withdrew it from their shelves. Will not be back to B&Q EVER!!!!

This is a con do not buy. The pressure washer quality is extremely poor and just waiting to break down. The spray lance and variable wand broke/split within 3 uses. B&Q refuse to replace parts eveb though it is clearly not fit for purpose. I am in the process of getting looked at by a professional. You are expecetd to lug this heavy machine back into their store and get a whole replacement otherwise you are expecetd to pay for spare parts yourself. Customer services are useless. Bought my Mac 2 a few years ago and has been a bit dodgy since, especially with the hose connector constantly popping off the washer itself. Most recently the hand gun has been leaking and wetting my feet more than the car. Can't seem to find a replacement and B&Q weren't much help.
Looks like I need to buy a new one, any recommendations?

How does one select zero stars? worth checking reviews before purchasing anything. we need a national day for all to take items back to the doorstep of B&Q - they do have a responsibility and obligation to resolve. However I will make a pond pump out of mine! Do not buy MACAllister anything - i have had a few and all poor standard. at least as I say, check out reviews. Cheapest is not best. (read more)

I contacted Customer Services about a sliding mitre saw I bought, B & Q's own make, astonishingly they said they would open and close a complaint. Anyway i phoned around to see if I could get spares, B & Q's spares place said they never held spares for them, and local repirers said they could never get spares from B & Q. I have finally given up with my MAC360PWA. I am on my third turbo lance and this one occasionally stalls as the swirler housing wears out rapidly. The detergent mixing was hopeless from the start with the adjustable pressure lance. Trigger is leaking again; cracked valve housing that I previously repaired with a modified jubilee clip and epoxy. Like so many others on here I purchased the Mac3 MacAllister pressure washer not realising that it was made for B&Q. Personally I feel that stores should be forced to declare this on the packaging. If I had known I would never have purchased the washer. When a manufacturers brand is on the box then they stand or fall by the quality and have a reason to fix problems. Worked fine to clean drive and patio - twice. Then the gun failed - like so many others it seems. Found seals jumping out of place, but more significantly a split in the plastic moulding inside the handle - invisible unless under pressure. This seems to be a case of bad quality (is that what the B & Q stand for?) manufacture. (read more)

Don't buy any MAC2 power washer from this B and Q they are rubbish and B and Q can not help with spare parts.
Water pours out of the handle and the machine cannot be used. You but the rubbish MAC2 power washer from B and Q and you are stuck with it.

Purchased the B&Q Mac2 pressure washer 2 years ago with a 3 year guarantee. Recently the trigger assembly started leaking. B&Q Galway store refused to accept the guarantee. The guarantee is simple and straightforward. Would never never buy another B&Q pressure washer or anything electrical from them again. (read more)

Used the Mac2 2 years ago and it was fine on the Patio and the car.Packed away last year then this weekend the lance is leaking and the soap will not dispemce.
Stripped down the lance and saw 2 'o' rings were shot. replaced thowe but has made no difference - still leaking.
Worth £90.00 - don't think so - will search and read reviews of more prominent brands before deciding on next purshase.

This machine has never worked efficiently. the auto cut-out failed on first use, then the handle developed a major leak within the first two weeks of use (possibly due to failure of auto cut-out?). The machine is now completely unusable, after no more than 5 hours total operation. This would seem to be the normal result, judging by EVERY other review I have read on this machine. I would recommend avoiding this model and manufacturer at all costs. (read more)

I have had the same problem bought new gun and used it for three hours and now the same thing has happened. The middle piece in the gun has split at the elbow. I am so discussed at this poor dedsign and workmanship that i refuse to waste more time even to claim my money back. It is not worth the time of day. You shall be seeing it in the skip this afternoon, if you want redeem this situation. contact me because i have a solution to this problem.
