“We found El Buric to be a small but very nice and...”

We found El Buric to be a small but very nice and comfortable B&B in Alghero, Sardegna (Italy). Both me and my wife have been happy guests of El Buric in february 2005 spending a very nice and warm vacation by Mario & Fiorella.
There's practically no defence against the defamatory actions on the net; looking at the review dated 8th march from another guest, it seems impossible that he was writing about the same accommodation!
Does it mean that I write falsities?

I.e., he writes that the bathroom is shared with the owners; I've found 2 bathrooms, one for the owners and another for guests. I used my own private bathroom.
Of course, the owners live in the B&B; in their own spaces, as the Italian law requires. For guests that need more privacy, there are self catering apartments available in the old town, with air-conditioning too.

Problems of privacy: there's a door that cuts the guests area and the common space. Owners take real care on this problem and we did not have any problems.

The only true thing is the previous existence of a waste treatment building, 700 metres from the apartment-block but we found it all covered no smells or flavours or noise. As known from information in Alghero, during springtime 2004 the city dept. moved the plant 6 miles, in S. Marco area out of town and they have also changed all engines and covered the pump station during the summer 2004. But they were far for this top flat on 6th floor. So, absolutely no noise and/or smells.
Pictures show what I say: B&B is in town of Alghero; all around there's the green and the hills, the old town and the sea, and a view 360 all around! Capo Caccia, the hills, the gulf, the sea!

I found a great balcony of 20 sq. ms, related to the bedroom where probably there was the other guest (and me with my wife 2 months ago) entirely covered by a motorized verandah, a large closed space that (with the bedroom) gives a surface of 35 sq, ms. like a mini apartment. with table, chairs, long chairs and refrigerator. The other (twin) bedroom has a smaller balcony of 3 sq. ms with table and chairs.

Of course, if you go to Alghero in very high season you don't find calm and peace: from 38,000 residents they arrive at 200,000 inhabitants between July and august, with a great increasing of noise and prices.
But we did not find this situation: no traffic, no noise. They explained to me that during the summer 2003 the main way (Via Garibaldi) was closed to build the new rambla, and all traffic was redirected in other directions.

I found air conditioning (one split in each bedroom), I remember 10,000 btu each machine (where 7000 is enough). We used it in February 2005 and the temperature was really comfortable!
Other conditioners are in the large living and in the owner's spaces.

They serve continental breakfast in XVIII C. dishes (wow!), and breakfast has been ok for us: a very good espresso, done with a characteristic old coffee machine (Fiorella has a small collection of nice old coffee machines!).
Bad experience for the owners: this guest has gone away without saying about their necessities, waiting for to leave the house
I'm only sorry we don't have enough pictures of the B&B and the background, maybe because I did not think to use them against the B&B!

About Alghero, now (last February) they are still working everywhere, and all things (roads, harbour, buildings) are changing very quickly. Only the people don't change, always nice and friendly! Go there, but out of season.

The El Buric is a moderate 2 bedroom apartment that you share with Mario and his wife Fiorella. They have use of the kitchen, study, living room/kitchen and the balcony that is used for breakfast. They have a tiny room in the center of the apartment that serves as their bedroom and share the bathroom with current occupants. You can only use a small portion of the refrigerator if you pay and no use of the kitchen.

There is no air conditioning or fans so to get any ventilation you must leave the door to your room open and give up any privacy as Mario's study is directly across from the queen size bedroom and the bedroom with the twin beds is across from the living room/kitchen.

Our balcony looked over the supermarket and other high rises, but in his e-mail he failed to mention that even though it was on the top floor, the noise level was unbearable with motor scooters, cars and trucks zooming in and out of a very busy street he lived alongside.

Another view from the balcony was a waste treatment plant which noisily sprayed dirty water over a large container 24 hours a day.

Traffic was constant. We work in New York and are familiar with traffic and noise; however the noise level here was so loud due to the scooters and diesel trucks making deliveries.

This was not a large apartment and we had no sense of space or privacy.

Mario demands that you pay in full before you even see your accommodations.

We paid for a week but left after two nights.
