“Outstanding First Bike!”

Written on: 02/11/2012 by Harry16 (1 review written)

As im 16, i decided that i would like to get around by myself. The only option for this is a 50cc bike or moped. At first, i was unsure about having one, but then the idea grew on me, my mate got a ped, speedfight and i had a go on it and decided that i should go on to get one. I did my CBT and straight after i went and got my Aprilia SR50. I rode it about 20 miles on my first day! Loved it and had it almost a week now, very quick moped, fully derestricted hits about 50 uphill! 55-60 flat if... (read more)

“2011 Aprilia SR50R”

Written on: 13/02/2012 by ian54 (2 reviews written)

I purchased my SR50R in June 2011 , its nearly 8 months old, problems to date are knocking /tapping noise from under bike , problem undetermined by dealer stiller occurs, intermittent. I had the bike derestricted because I was fed up with trundling at 25-30 mph once it was run in , now the entire exhaust is rusting , Aprilia will not replace under warranty because it was derestricted, I call that Aprilia copping out. an aftermarket Stainless Steel exhaust will cost £160+ £40.00 fitting... “Exhaust is badley made”

Written on: 13/10/2011 by stan.long

I bought a sr50 for my daughter in 2008, and in less than one year it required a new exhaust, we thought that this was probably a one off and it was replaced under warranty, however a year and a half later it again requires a new exhaust, it has completely rusted and blowing, and will not pass an MOT. Apprila refuse to admit that the standard exhaust is not fit for use. The moped is great and goes well but the exhaust is a big problem and if we had known about this fault we may not have... I bought my aprilia SR 50 R New from a dealer for 2100 GBP... 0 miles obviously, it was restricted to 30mph to begin with and that was ok for the first 200-500 miles.. then i could de-restrict it.

The bike was good even when restricted, good handing, weight, power and brakes!

Written on: 31/05/2010

I bought Aprilia SR 50R as new from local dealer. I enjoy every ride o her, however I have expected faster bike. It is restricted to 30 mph maybe just because of law in Britain. Downhill I can get 40 mph max out of her. By de-restricting I'll lose 2-years warranty, but on the other hand other drivers will stop biping on me as a slow rider. And what's more I have to put some money in it even if it cost me £1.900 new. So I'm not pretty sure what to do, have it de-restricted or swaped for... (read more)

all the new ones a restricted to 30-35, no matter what engine size. Your best bet is just de-restrict it, new sports exhaust cost around 150-200 pounds, but will boost your speed to around 45-50 at least, and if you change rollers and more tuning don't see why you shouldn't get 60-70mph!

So, It uses the 49.38cc 2-stroke engine. Engine has changed very much in last years and my Aprilia really has the power. Driving in the forest or on the sand is not a problem, but my friend just stucks into the sand with his unknown scooter.

Every ride is a fun ride on the Aprilia SR 50 DiTech. Hit the curves! That's where the fun is at with this Aprilia. The bike is very smooth handling. I really became kind of addicted to curved tarmac because of the fun, stability and smoothness. Riding in the dark is a little tricky as the standard lights are quite dim. I guess I should replace them with a Xenon kit or use the lights from the SR 150 model. Although it's a sport-bike, it sure is comfortable and very easy to ride. With the 13"... (read more)

I wrote the original review, my Aprilia SR50 went into the shop in November for a fuel pump repair, it's now March and according to the Massachusetts Lemon Law, I was able to send a 30 day demand letter for a refund or a new acceptable replacement. Actually the repair time was supposed to be 15 days under state law, they had over 5 months, the dealership has been awful, the courts will award me triple damages and attorney costs, so the dealer agreed to replace bike, this is a mess. Don't buy this bike!
