2003, piaggio typhoon 50.
i made a review on december 26th too.
ive sold my typhoon now after 6000km of riding it. now have an rd125lc :)
the typhoon is a good moped. it is reliable, good value for money, and quite quick.
my particular typhoon ran up to around 55mph, (indicated speed) should be a genuine 50mph. I managed 70mph flat out, down a hill.
I had a sports exhaust, not the best but better than standard. I also had the spacer taken out of the variator, also an iridium spark plug,...

ive only had my piaggio typhoon 50 2003' for 2 days now, but i can still confidently say its a great bike. It only cost £250 and its in perfect condition. It has standard air filter, carburettor and exhaust, but it has been de-restricted, so on the flat i hit 50 mph, even up steep banks it will pull all 11 stone of me to 35mph, i maxed it out down hill and hit 60mph with the exhaust rumbling. it will also do about 80 mpg. All i can say is wrong with the bike is the wheels. They arent very... (read more)

I got this scooter a month ago and it was new when I bought it. After 200kms I took the restricting washer from the variator pulley and now it is going max 65 km per hour. May be it is new, the engine stalled a few times at the traffic night and took me a while to have it restarted. What could be the problem? (read more)

I bought my Piaggio Typhoon 50cc Scooter in october 2003 and couldn't wait because it was my 16th birthday, it was really ok when I first got it, but it was only doing 22mph at the max on flat ground, but my speedo was sayin 27mph. Ah well, now its great, as I can burnoff loads of cars at the traffic lights, I took it too a large hill in wales the other day called llangollen where I went full pelt downhill, and got about 65mph out of it, it was really good clean fun. sound like your bike is still restricted, you need to take the ring out of your variator and clamp the two little pipes on ya exhaust. i gotta typhoon 50 and mine does about 55 60 mph on flat land.
Written on: 15/02/2007
Hi. When you say clamp the bits on your exhaust, do you mean the metal bits of pipe that come off the pipe? Do you squeeze them together?

Thanks.
Written on: 16/10/2008
Does it matter if I just but a technigas race exhaust on my thphoon 50 even if there is the pipe connecting to the engine some where?
w/b thanks.

hello m8 if you look at the exsorst from the side you will see it splitting off in two if you cut were it split off and cover the two holes it will put 10mph on your Typhoon.
