Had this just over 3 years now and I love it. Found it a little difficult to ride at first so I took it to Brands Hatch to see what I and the bike could do. It performed as I'd been told and the day really did improve my experience of this great machine. Would recommend that all owners try the track at least once. (read more)

I've had my SP1 from new for 10 years. Now I keep it as a track day bike and, despite its lack of power against the latest thousand fours it is more than capable of holding its own. Other people have commented on its stability in the turn, I find I can lay the bike on its side and it will track exactly where I want it to with no fuss, it turns as quickly as I want and I can ride around the outside of most big bikes. Just back from a 3 day track session in Southern Spain (Cartagena) and it... (read more)

This has to be the phattest, coolest V-Twin ever! I just got mine, did 600km in 2 installments, and just can't keep my hands off it. Except for the carbon Leovince exhaust, it's standard. As others have pointed out, fit and finish is first rate. The gearbox is fantastic, the brakes are still first league, and in general, all peripheral equipment is top notch. I can't say anything about reliability yet (which is why I have rated this 4 stars), but I expect few surprises here. Some users have... (read more)

I absolutely love the SP! One of the best handling v twins I ever ridden.Mine is 10 years old now and a classic icon. With Hi level pipes it sounds brilliant and everyone turns their head when they hear you comin! Build quality is fantastic and would put a 2010 bike to shame.Every day I ride her I come back with flies in my teeth from the grinning! I was thinkin about a Duke but decided NAH my SP1 is for keeps. If you've never ridden one take one on a test ride and I bet you'll be hooked.An... (read more)

This is the first twin I have ever ridden and I must say after getting used to the throttle, I think its a fabulous bit of kit. It is so planted round bends there are no dramas when you hit uneven road surface, it looks terrific and sounds great. If you want a bike that gives you confidence then buy an SP (read more)

I've owned countless inline fours, from a YZF750, R6, ZXR750, CBR900RRV, CBR1000RR4, CBR954RR2 and now recently the Honda VTR1000 SP1, and having looked at a few other V-twins, notetabtly the RSVR Mille, which just didn't handle well enough to my liking , this SP -1 is head and shoulders above the other offerings currently available, in my view.
People talk about Ducati having Character, but the SP has real soul, as anyone who owns and rides one will tell you, and with a set of race cans...

Ive owned a couple of Suzuki TL1000's a black bird a gixxer . and a few others.. this Honda VTR1000 SP1 really stands out ., you can tell the build quality straight away . and the bike does have a presents that the other bikes in the car park dont have . i think that goes back to the reason why the bike was designed and built in the first place .. its a ducati beater !! thats what it was built for thats what it did ... a little heavy but still gives fantastic handling . and the v- twin... Had her from new, there is nothing out there that can come close, best oil pro 4 silcoline. Good set cans, I have tried most tyres. Any good rubber is fine for road. My set up 1 click down front and rear. Tyre presure 32 f 36rear. My weight 14 stone, loves bends let the engine do the braking. Third is best for fast flowing bends. (read more)

Unsure how to write this as I don't ride on road very good overall if a little skittish and jumpy on rougher roads ok for track but a bit to stiff on rear for most a/b roads I race and test so my advice swallow your pride back off the front 3 and the back 2 you ' ll be miles faster and a lot more comfortable. Just look at it before chucking your leg over, oh boy, isn't she a beauty. Kick her up and listen to that rumble. I cannot say enough about this jewel, I've had most large capacity sport bikers over the years and nothing prepared me for the grin factor that this bike gave, awesome handling, bottom end grunt amazing which keeps going all the way to red, A decent pair of race cans a power commander and decent rubber and you ' ve got something really special. If there ' s one thing you got to... (read more)

The Honda VTR1000 best bike I have owned, don ' t think I could buy anything else, only had mine a couple of months but been using it everyday to commute to work, round trip of 140 miles a day, grin factor, only bought it because my brothers got 1 and he let me use it for the day. (read more)

The Honda VTR1000 is a real head turner with a set of race cans. It ' s more reliable than a duke and is becoming a real classic. I ' ve had all the big fours, r1, gixer and another gixer and zx9, then an sp1, then a duke, then a 06 blade, then another 07 gixer. The only bike I ' ve missed is the sp1. I ' ve lost some money along the line, but I ' ve just chopped the 07 gixer in against another sp1 limited edition. I seriously recommend you try one. It ' s the best bike I ' ve owned. (read more)

The Honda VTR1000 is an excellent bike that I will not trade with any in-line four in the market!.. It may not look as flash as some of the newer 06 model bikes onwards but this bike has character and history the best HRC R&D behind it. This bike will provide you with a far more engaging, enjoyable experience as a rider, so it's not for inexperienced riders. If you're new to the big capacity bike scene you will not appreciated it as much until you have ridden other big capacity bikes. I... (read more)

This Honda VTR1000 SP1 is the best bike I have had by far and I have had a lot of bikes. Everyone has to try one once. Handles like its on rails, loads of torque from low revs. Makes an average riderlike me look good but needs a lot of movement on the bike. A bit on the heavy side and it likes a drink when you take it on a trackday. (read more)

I found this review helpful because...I have a cb1300s at present and although I love it, it doesn't give me the kicks I miss from a V twin. I'm a honda man and have had a firestorm, test riding a sp1 at weekend.
