Well I don't have a cat or a dog but I wanted a decent vacuum cleaner and this was on offer and beat the other Miele I was looking at on price. I even took out the extended warranty to ensure years of happy usage. Mistake. Within about 6 months of not excessive use I might add, the black filter started doing the squeeling thing, just like other reviewers. I phoned Miele who said I should change the bag and filters and try again. I did so with proper Miele replacement bags and replaced the... (read more)

I used to have a cyclinder Dyson, and bought the Miele Cat and Dog having used it at a friend's house. It is a fabulous product, but it appears to be cheaply made and we've had one problem after another with it. The on/off button is very temperamental, the lid to hold the tools on came off (I look after my products too) and won't go back on, the bag claims to be full even when it patently is not, the hose likes to twist in on itself which is annoying, and now the black filter is screaming... I have the upright version of the dog and cat. This is a powerful vacuum cleaner and like most Miele machines In have owned, I was expecting the best. Well, not so. The interior on the upright is crowded and clunky, it is difficult to change the filter and when you put the bag on, there is no way for it to attach and it keeps falling off, sucking all that great dog and cat dander RIGHT INTO THE ENGINE you just paid $650 for. I think this one needs to go back to the drawing board. Wish... (read more)

We've had this vacuum cleaner for eight years and is only now starting to show it's age. We have had dogs and daughters with long hair and it does a great job picking up everything. It is easy to move around with and store in the cupboard. We've had no problems with it and would certainly recommend it. Cheers. (read more)

I have washing machine and freezer Miele and I am satisfied with them. It is more expensive brand than others but I thought that they have the best products. Now I know that there can be an exception from the every rule. I bought this vacuum cleaner and then found out that it is noisy, heavy but what's worse that it doesn't suck properly. I hope it will broke down completely that I can rid off it as soon as possible. So if you prefer easy cleaning with perfect result don't buy it. It is only... (read more)

I was delighted with my Miele to start with. I found it much better than any vacuum I'd had before - Dyson, panasonic. It's light, easy to use and move around and actually picked up ALL the time. That was until it started doing the 'popping up' trick as mentioned by other reviewers. The black filter kept popping up and the noise was horrific plus all the suction was lost. I persisted by spending a lot of money replacing all filters but it just kept doing it. The only way was to push it down... (read more)

I am about to take our Miele Cat & Dog vacuum cleaner (S6320), which is only 1 year and 6 days old, back to the service centre for the same problem which has just happened for the 2nd time in under 6 months: the air coming in to the cleaner body blows the filter out of it's pocket and pops the lid off with an accompanying scream and then the power can't be switched on by the foot button (I see other reviewers have had the same issue). To switch it on, I have to open the lid and manually... (read more)

Oh sorry I couldn't quite hear you due to the temporary deafness caused by using our Miele vacuum cleaner. It worked reasonably well for the first year and a half, But after just running out of warranty it starts SCREECHING, this is due to the black filter on top popping up all the time,it is held down by two rather small plastic hooks (sticking plasters would hold down better)the air pressure is too high behind the filter, the hooks can't hold it down and it just pops up. I'm getting EXACTLY the same problem. Ours is 1 year and 6 days old and I'm about to take it back for the second time within 6 months for the same reason. The last time I was told it was because it had too much dust and hair inside. What??!! Its a VACUUM cleaner!!! Designed for homes with pets. Most pets I've come across tend to have hair. Perhaps the ones Miele used in their tests don't? If I hadn't spent so much money on this thing, I'd dump it. DON'T waste your money. I miss my old Dyson now and wish I'd got another one instead.

The Meile Cat and Dog 700 vacuum SUCKS and that is not intended as a compliment. The only pros: good suction, quiet motor, good filtration. It was obviously designed by an engineer that has never EVER vacuumed. The hose and cord are too short. The plastic nozzle pipe is weak and broke, and the only fix is a whole new hose for $200. The proprietary pipes and attachments cannot be mixed with any other standard sized parts (like for adding pipes to reach very high places). The hose swivels at... (read more)

I have had both Dyson and Sebo - This outperforms them by a mile. It really does get pet hairs off the carpets and has a good strong suck. It is heavy so no good if you are a bit weak. The bags last for ages - and our farmhouse gets some heavy duty dirt to tackle. It does lose a bit of suction when the bag is nearly full. I had a problem soon after purchase. One of the plastic wheel holders cracked off. Miele were great. They collected it and sent it back mended in a few days at no... (read more)

The hoover is heavy and awkward. Whilst powerful with good suction it does not work with long haired dogs. Hair gets trapped in the roller which means you have to constantly stop and remove on top of that if you are unfortunate where the hair gets trapped in the roller and support plate it melts and siezes, rendering it useless. Basically it is not suitable for its advertised purpose. As a vaccuum it may work ok but not for our needs. Very disappointed for a Miele Product. (read more)

Miele Cat & Dog. If you have back problems, don't buy this cleaner. Changing the foot piece/brush takes some mucking around. Due to my problem back, I don't do constant bending. The Miele was a revelation the first time we used it, very quiet and very powerful, we have three springers that shed a lot of hair, in no time the carpets were hair free for the first time in years, in the past we've had to resort to getting down on our hands and knees with a rubber glove to get...

Used to using an upright, but was considering a cyclinder until now! Its good points are .. Power, compact, and smart looking, easy bag change.
Poor points are... wheeling resistence whilst vacuuming, poor tool fitting technique, hose short for stairs, blows lots of very hot smelly air! (especially when bag part full with cat and dog hair - as its supposed to be!) a hassle! carpet attachment gets stuck pushing against carpet.

I have had a Miele 700 C&D for about 3 years. It continuously overheated after about ten minutes use whether the temperature at the time was hot or cold. After about a year I had to have the circuit board renewed at a cost of £30.00. Now, after inserting a new Miele bag, I had just vacuumed a bedroom floor and was less than halfway down the stairs when the cleaner started emitting clouds of smoke. The consequence was a burnt out motor. To have it repaired again would be throwing good money after bad. It is the last time I will buy anything from this firm - a load of expensive badly-designed rubbish even if it did pick up hairs.

Miele have really compromised quality build on this new model. The tools lid is incredibly flimsy, and if the tools are not replaced exactly in their slots, it won't close and could easily break the hinges. My old Black Diamond model was much sturdier and heavier plastic. This notwithstanding, the actual unit is good, and it is powerful, but it does lose suction when the bag fills.

I was utterly seduced by the marketing of this Miele Cat and Dog 700. It felt reassuringly solid when I looked at it in the shop and the tools seemed sturdy. I got it home and my smug feelings persisted. The cleaner had quite voracious suction and easily cleared the dog hair from both carpets and hard floors. I absolutely concur with everything you have said. I took mine back to Currys to be told I had to send it back to Miele. Miele sent me a box, I packed it up and off it went (via courier). It was returned a couple of days later, the on/off switch had been repaired - it was stuck to on - but the screeching was not solved and has just got worse and worse. I wouldn't mind but within the first 6-7 months of having it I recommended it to so many people on my dog blog page and now I feel let down. It is just over 12 months old and I am so disappointed.
