had my DB 4 custom for 12 months. was good out of the box, bought this as an experiment, a few teething problems over the coming months, this gun is good value if you just want to dip your toe in the hobby or backyard target shooting, as i say, this was bought as a cheap tuning experiment. 12 months on the rifle is very good, accurate and reliable, ....but at a cost, ...which with hindsight could have been spent on a rifle of better quality even a second hand one. dont get me wrong, it has... Hello there I've noticed on this site quite a few people have gotten this rifle remarkably cheap much cheaper infact than I've found it. So who's gonna be a chap and tell me where I can pick one of these up cheap? As by these reviews I don't think the 70quid price tag is really worth it (read more)

Like a pair of trainers to a teenager your gonna get the mick taken wearing a £5 pair from a charity shop but they dont slow you down or stop you running. I recently bought the db4 as a project and to see just how bad they realy are. Out of the box the look a little flimsy but for £45 i wasnt expecting much else. Popped in a cheapo .22 pellet and popped it off aiming at a bean can approx 25m away first shot and a hit, think it was shear luck as the next 3 were a miss! Anyway the first hit... (read more)

I recently purchased the Standard version of this gun having read numerous reviews and opinions. I have no great experience of good quality guns so this review is taken from the eyes of a novice.
I am pestered by pigeons in my small back garden and have had enough of their guano on my garden furniture and that repetitive cooing.
I did not want to pay much money and just over £40 seemed cheap, but various reviews made me feel that it would either be the best £40 per value or would make a nice... (read more)

This is my 2nd review. Ive now put a Hawke Sport HD 4 x 32 scope on and at first it is a little fiddly to load but soon get used to it. Ive bagged plenty of bunnies now at over 30 yrds using 10 grain zinc pellets. i even popped the eye out of one with a head shot at 28 yrds. Only problem is if something breaks it may be more than the gun is worth to have it repaired???? I dunno, we,ll have to wait and see won,t we. (read more)

SMK DB4 177
I had the choice of two types of SMK in the gun shop. A cheaper version at £40 or the Deluxe one with a better wooden grained butt for £60. I went for the £60 one. Was sold some pointed slugs and targets.
Found the gun on initial firing very powerful and it went clean through a slatted fence panel at 20yards. I bought the gun for pigeon shooting.First shot at one sitting on a branch at about 12 yrds hit him ok,he flew off to another branch 8yrds away and then just dropped to the... (read more)

Pro's: Price, weight, powerful, accurate, custom hardwood stock looks great.
Cons: Stiff trigger.
I just bought a custom db4 for £69. I have found it to be a great weapon for the price. After accidentally putting a pellet through my garage door(1/4 inch hardwood) i soon realized the power available. The stiff trigger isn't a problem after a while. I would certainly recommend to beginners and professionals alike. I haven't put a scope on yet but i can see it may be a problem to load with... (read more)

I've had this SMK SMK Deluxe DB4 Underlever air rifle for over a year now, and have put about 500 pellets through it. I have put a decent scope on it, which prevents me easily putting a pellet in. i have sighted it as best i can, but it still shoots low. it is constant, but it is always about 3 inches below where i aim, no matter whether the target is at 10 yards or 40 yards. the trigger is incredibly stiff, and is far away. recently, the gun has started to fall apart. when out shooting,... I have only just got into the sport and will be joining a local gun club soon, i brought this gun after reading the reviews on this web site and testing a few that friends had.
I have rated this gun a 10 on a "under £100 gun group" due to firing a couple of guns and found this one to be the best. The only problem that i had was when i first brought it, was i had to put about 350 - 400 pellets through it before the accuracy was spot on to within an inch.

This is a brilliant rifle for the money! After scoping it up with a 4x40, it was hitting 2 pence peices off at 30 yards and had groupings identical to a weihrauch hw77 and a webly raider at 60 yards! could easily be used as a hunting rifle, even though i brought mine for plinking.
Only problems i had with this was a slightly bent underlever and the loading mechanism seazed at one point which was soon rectified. The recoil is quite powerfull but then what can u expect??

Unbelievably accurate for what you pay, and very powerful when you first get it. I was hitting pennies at 30 odd metres with this and a 4x42 scope. I bought one of these for the incredible price of £28.00, thinking it would make a good plinker, I've never owned an underlever before, and at that price I coud not go wrong, again SMK have suprised me. This rifle is a little gem, and would be perfect for a first time airgunner, that don't mind a springer, the only thing bad about it really is the stock, for some reason this is painted with what I can only assume is a brown gloss, but, apart from this, what a gun, I have stripped the brown... SMK Deluxe DB4 Underlever - This was my first air rifle, and a better introduction to shooting, for the price, i can't think of! The gun is very powerful, right on the 12Ft Lb limit for an air rifle, it has no trouble with multiple cans, thin wood and plastics from 60 feet. As for accuracy, it does leave something to be desired but that can be expected for a sub £60 air rifle! In fact, you wuld anticipate a lot more inconsistency than the DB4 delivers. At 50 feet using good ammo, you can... (read more)

I bought this SMK Deluxe DB4 Underlever rifle with a rifle slip, 2 tins of pellets, and a Walther 4X32 scope.
The rifle seems reasonably powerful, accurate, and reliable.
I tried over and over to zero the scope in, but the recoil throws the zero off after a few shots, so I reverted back to the supplied ironsights, which are adjustable for windage and elevation. Since I did this I rarely miss what I am shooting, I have killed 3 rabbits in one evening, and one just now, which I will give to my... (read more)

SMK Deluxe DB4 Underlever shoots pellets as it is supposed to do. You do not have to be a professional to use it, the heavy trigger helps you to steady your aim. I find however the heavy trigger with powerful easy underlever cocking action is very useful giving you adequate time for aim and fire, no real threat of accidental firing with a full length stock with butt cap. Added to that a fully adjustable removable rear sight, I consider this a very accurate piece of equipment. I rate this as... (read more)

Well, where to start... the SMK Deluxe DB4 certainly does what it is supposed to do, it shoots pellets! Other people rate the rifle as being very powerful, that's a mistake I'm afraid, it only feels powerful because of the immense recoil on this rifle. This is (probably, I'm not a expert) due to the poor build of the spring and the springguides. It kicks like a mule! Combine this with the very heavy trigger and light weight and you have to be a real marksman to hit anything with this rifle... (read more)

I found that the SMK Deluxe DB4 gun is great if you have never done shooting before and want to get a taster of it. I got mine for 50 pounds and found that it lasts a long time and makes you really get into the sporting world of shooting. The power is about 10-12 depending on how they make it, the accuracy isn't to good I can hit about 8 out of 10 shots at a 20-30 yard distance.
