Good Points: Its a nice little nippy car with quite a lot of room inside.
Bad Points: I have had problem after problem this year with my A Class at the moment it has done 52000 miles, all four injectors went which cost £1300 to fix and that was a cheap deal, 3 of the springs have gone and they cost about £70 each not including labour, the alternator has just gone and the belt came off which cost £500, it just seems that once something goes wrong on it a few weeks later something else happens literally there is weeks between the problems at the moment, it spends more time at the garage than with me.
General comments: I did really like my Mercedes A Class until it started to get continuous problems, it seems that i have had nothing but promlem after problem with it and the weird compact design of it makes it really expensive and hard to fix and nobody likes fixing them, I have only had it for a year and a half (second hand - bought it off my Dad) and it was fine for half a year but the last year it just keeps breaking so overall its dissappointing as i know it has been well looked after and driven but just keeps breaking.

The Mercedes A Class is a great little car, as the review say built like a tank and we love being so high up. Great for London.
Handling isn't great but then it's in the city most of the time so is great for parking and normal city roads.
Great car. Buy one second hand and you'll love it.

Wonderful car. Great handling, performance is more than adequate. You can take windy roads at high speeds, and the car feels in perfect control.
My car has 177,000kms and runs like new. It is very easy to keep in good order, just normal service.
I has a feeling of simplicity and robustness, and at the same time it is a highly technological and safe car.

The Mercedes Benz A Class is such a disapointing car. We always had Mercedes at home, so when I needed a small town car, Mercedes was the obvious choice.
Technically it seems to be sub-standard quality. Air pump burned out and damaged contol unit, needed new air pump and ecu.
The gearbox (automatic) was dodgy from day one, but Mercedes never found a fault. Gearbox had to be replaced. Still not working properly. Spent over 5000 euro in the last year.
Never again!

This is my first car! I have driven almost every car on that has entered the market since 2004 and every time I come back to what I have....there are features that I prefer over the new A170(2007)....I far prefer the drive on the older A-Class and the go anywhere, do almost anything capability!
Although the car does seem to not enjoy steep inclines(>60degrees) the suspension is a little wobbly over speed bumps....
In all honesty, I love my car-still going strong after 130 000km...Definitely wont ...

Very disappointed for a Mercedes. I have spent already a fortune on repairs for this car to keep running. Very bumpy ride even though I replaced shocks.

I have the A class A160 elegance 2003. This is my second car first was a 206, and I have to say I'm sticking with Mercedes.
This car is special its strong and bulky you feel like your driving a tank (in terms of safety) lovely interior, seats can be a little hard when driving long distance, cruise control is good although it only works above 30mph.
The only problem I have with this car is the suspension, for some reason it doesnt like bumps or speed humps I mean its terrible, I've noticed that ...

This Mercedes Benz A Class A160 was bought secondhand, with very low mileage. Great for kids if you get the option for the elevating rear seats - they have a real involvement in what's going on outside; good for their feeling of independence - getting in and buckling up. The ride is fairly hard but fine on most roads. A great sort of car for fun holiday trips, in this spec feeling like you are doing your beach runs from the villa - "a sunny airy kind of feel". Good flexibility for driver heights ...

I have a Mercedes Benz A Class 160 Avantgarde and I really like, but one has to know that the quality is not up to par. Mercedes Benz definitely used inferior materials for the trim and other parts. However, that said I really like the car. It is very versatile and I can easily nip in town. It also has nice safety features.

The Mercedes Benz A Class A160 is a nice car. It is comfortable on long runs, and is high off the ground, giving good all round vision. It is economical at 45+ on long runs, and it has a very useful seating arrangement for the odd load, soft goods, or when moving house. It is very easy to keep clean due to the smooth body-lines. There are no hubcaps to lose with the standard alloy wheels.
I would recommend it to my friends.

I've driven quite a few of these Mercedes Benz A Class A160 family cars over the last few years for weeks at a time (as hirecars) and we bought one 3 months ago, so my wife and I obviously like them. What I can say though is definetely go for the highest specification you can afford, but stick with the A160 as it has a gutsy, economical engine and is easiest to re-sell. The Avantgarde model is the one to go for as it has leather, Aircon, cruise-control (on the later models) nice alloy wheels, an ...

I would like to hear if any other person has had the same kind of problem with the Mercedes Benz A Class A160 Family Car and what they did to resolve the suspension problem.
