The series 2 Land Rover. Quite unlike any other vehicle, ancient or modern. Provided you can live with their limitations (absolutely no creature comforts and slow by modern standards) there is nothing that can equal them for sheer practicality, ease of maintenance, low depreciation, and most of all fun ownership. Everyone should own one of these machines at least once in their life… Read Full Review

Well the best motor I have ever owned - great fun and you can't help falling in love with them, get the roof off and and get out in the sun. Class less and DIY fun. Prices are going up so if you buy a good one you won't lose a lot of money… Read Full Review

This is the greatest car 4x4 off roader in the world. You will love yours and respect it. Reliable, completely indestructible, fun to drive, great for city traffic due to high driving position and lower speed than some cars (its happiest speed is about 30) Roof comes off in 5 mins, can keep up on the motorway fine… Read Full Review

But probably not for you if it is your only vehicle and you do a high mileage. Your wallet, ears and spine might not survive!… Read Full Review

If tuned correctly will almost do 70mph. Parts are cheap, recently purchased brand new distributor for £20. Off-road very capable and appears very durable. Quite easy to work on for DIY, I have completely rebuild mine from chassis up. Just be careful with weight of some items. Good fun vehicle and great off road even when used with all terrain tyres… Read Full Review

I love Land Rover Series 2/2A 88 and would not trade for the world. They're are better Land Rovers for instance 90 and Defender but they are harder to fix. And they are slightly longer, this is a draw back becuase the tail drops a few inches lower when ascending… Read Full Review

The Landrover Series 2/2A is the hardcore offroader, the crem de la crem of uncompromised offroad ability combined with durability. Everything is made to last a very long time and even when it breaks or rots away can be replaced, repaired or bodged back into action - the number of surviving examples testify.
On road, it struggles to keep up with traffic, a well tuned petrol SWB will do 60 on the road, geared for bags of torque.
As soon as a series landrover leaves tarmac, it becomes the most… Read Full Review
