    Good Points: While it worked it was very useful and certainly a lot easier that models with a cord. The hand grip is comfortable and while the reach is not massive I've been able to cut a tall hedge with no problems. The power is adequate for moderate sized branches but do not expect it to tackle anything thicker than 7mm, you will need to have your old shears to hand. Safety seems excellent although this is a dangerous device by it's nature, but release either trigger and it stops instantly.


    Bad Points: Very poor battery life and very poor service response from the manufacturer.


    General comments: I purchased the Bosch AHS 48-16 Electric Hedge Cutter item in June 2008. April 2008 after spending the winter in the garage attached to the house and the battery had a life of 10 minutes, then 5, and now it will not work. Bosch tells me that I must pay them to investigate if this is my fault (battery is only covered for 6 months) and that a new battery is going to cost almost as much as the device itself.

    Factor in the replacement cost of the battery (even with a three year life) and this is a costly option.

    The Bosch AHS 48-16 Electric Hedgecutter has very sharp blades and is easy to use when new but the blades wore out after 18 months of hard work on large hedges. I can't buy a set of replacement blades from anywhere.
