All I wanted was broadband at home. Just regular broadband. Nothing fancy. So I tried BT. Big mistake. Ignorant & dishonest telephone staff, refusal to honour agreements and simple services not carried out. I'm talking about basic stuff here. As a result I still don't have any broadband service, and now I'm so annoyed that I'm telling the world.

There are plenty of smaller providers out there who actually want customers, BT is just a bloated shambles that consumers use because BT is a household name.

DO NOT USE BT IF YOU WANT A HAPPY LIFE.

I switched from Orange due to BT's claims for wireless coverage - absolute rubbish. The range is less than a Netgear router, their speed is slower and the line occasionally drops. When you ring customer service you speak to someone in India with a very poor line - this doesn't do much for their VOIP service either. I'm just waiting for the contract to run out.

I've been using BT Broadband for over 5 years, and have never had a problem. After reading these previous reviews, it looks as though I should consider myself lucky!

I've never had any downtime, and my connection has always been constant. My only gripe would be slightly slower speeds than expected, but I had this all explained to me by customer services, and it's due to the distance between my house and the exchange. The speed I get now is perfectly adequate for what I need it for.

    The cost ...

Very similar experiences to a lot of the other complaints. I was also encouraged by the BT Connect Broadband support staff to fiddle with a socket myself to which I flatly refused. Had no service for 2 weeks after speaking to many different people who seemed to have no clue and no real interest in helping resolve. No refund offered for the 2 week lapse. Lately the line has been cutting off very frequently. Infuriating customer service!

I've actually moved to SKY now but still have email at Bt Connect.
    I'll be moving that too!
You won't find a more amateur or old fashioned site!
They definitely have the wrong people working for them.

I think BT Connect Broadband are one of the better companies which are all in a bad bunch.
I do hate the fact that i have to speak to someone in India when i have a contract with British Telecoms

I do not know where they get the idea its a speed up to 8 megs as i never get more than 4-5 unless i get up in the middle of the night.

BT Is the worst company I have ever had to deal with. Not to mention I continually had issues with their broadband service and BT Vision. I could honestly write a book about all the issues I've had with them, but after wasting so much time on the phone with the inept service people I don't want to waste any more time on this horrible company. In the end I have opted to pay 300 GBP to get out of my contract and I will never ever ever go back to this company.

I needed a reliable, consistent service. BT have provided that to me for over 6 years now. Their Customer service is not better/worse than anyone elses. We have a very busy household Internet-wise, and it's been hassle-free. I've read the negative reviews, and maybe I'm just lucky. It is still the only ISP my company will support for VPN access from home, since none of the others match up.

BT Homehub 2 is NOT the strongest around - it is weaker than my 5 year old Netgear one.

Their customer service is appalling. Always people in "India" (or somewhere exotic - they won't say where they are) People you talk to are enthusiastic enough - but difficult to understand and don't listen to what the problem is - just hear it to be what the have on their script. Escalation of a problem to someone who might actually understand is impossible (so far). No-one takes responsibility for sorting a ...

BT broadband has got to be the worst service in the whole world, NEVER sign up ANY sort of account with this company unless you want the biggest headache in the world and to be on the phone for an hours at a time every time you have a problem.

The customer service always manages to put me through to at least 10 people each time I call, each person just givng me the ring around and passing me off to the next. I honestly hope I never have to deal with a company like this again ever.

    PLEASE look ...

I had BT broadband for 12 months and for 12 months I tried to get out of the contract!
The service is poor, they lied to me about the package saying I will get free calls on my normal phone line not just the Hub phone, i had to pay a bill for the calls. You never got to speak to anyone in the UK always India.
The people you spoke to did not understand your frustration!
Luckily I'm free of BT now and will never trust them again.
Speed was ok but the price was expensive , the bills hard to unders ...

The BT Home Hub does not give the best range around the house. The connection is pretty poor when first switched on, until it resets itself, then seems to work okay. Forget the 8MB, the maximum for my area is only 2MB, but we live approx 2 miles from the BT Exchange, the maximum we get with the ethernet cable in is only 0.7MB Slow, feels like dial up. Bored waiting for my contract to end, cancelled my account, paid to get rid of it.

I've had the broadband since 21/709 and for 7 days, everyday conenction problems. Technical customer service is typically in India where people don't uses the same colloquial language. Half an hour waiting time to speak to the billing department where you can't cancel the contract becuase of this appaulling service. Once I getting through to technical customer service I've spent 1 hour so far (2 calls), with the advisors repeating everything and not understanding what you want, THANK GOODNESS ...

BT must be the worst provider of a service in the UK. I have had major problems with BT both personally and in my business. One complaint I had took six weeks to resolve, during which we had no broadband, and in that space of time we spoke to no less than 43 different people, most of them in Delhi, and there was obviously no communication between departments. We had to ask for a port number to leave the service before anyone in UK took any notice and the fault was eventually fixed.Once you have ...

Unlimited package? (which they 'forgot' to put on when I asked them initially - then slapped me with a £150 excess charge) They choke everyone's bandwidth during normal hours, i can't get more than 2kb download speeds until the dot of midnight. ONLINE GAMING? DON'T EVEN BOTHER. Oh, I live 30m from an 8meg exchange before questions start. (and get 280kbs speeds between 12 and about 5am). Hang your heads in shame BT.

I have been waiting for BT to install Business Broadband Option 2 for over a month now. The failure pattern goes something like this...

BT give you a date and then FAIL. They set a date 5 days in the future as the new connection date then FAIL. They set another date 5 days forward and FAIL...

I am currently on my eigth promised date and have absolutely no confidence in their ability to deliver. They can't predict when service will be available. I am a fully paid up BT business customer of some ...
