We got broadband internet from BT, about two months ago. On the day of the braodband switch over, (from virgin) we were told that it might take up to 10 days for the broadband to be 100% OK. The connection is still poor two months later. It regularly disconnects. We were with virgin before, & they are slightly more expensive compared to BT, - in hindsight we would have just stayed with them. Our wireless box has been provided by BT. We've tried using the internet locally, with the cable... (read more)

If you can avoid using BT or any part of the BT group of companies (e.g. BT openreach), I highly recommend you do so. I have been using BT for many years now and had no issues until about 3 years ago. Since then I have had to phone up Dehli and speak to their "customer services" on a far too regular basis. They make you pay for an "up to 8mbps service" and give you a 0.3-1.3 speed. My phone and broadband went entirely down 8 weeks ago, it took them an entirely inexcusable 7 weeks to fix a... Had to use bt as other companies wanted to charge us for the use of the bt line. Has been a nightmare. Soon after taking out the contract our land line went down. Rang Delhi I forget how many times. Call centre staff patronising and incomprehensible. Told me it was my fault because the phone was off the hook - as if! Then said main entry socket faulty and I needed a call out to repair it at £99 cost. As if by magic the line was working the next day so obviously a line problem not the... (read more)

I have called BT 19 times in the last two weeks trying to get our broadband sorted out. They promise speeds of 16MB and we get 0.4. Yep, that's not a typo, 0.4. The international call centre is a disgrace - if you can hear them talking to you you know they're telling lies. Each call took between 1.5 and 2 hours and I now know their script so well I could work there with no training - their 'advisors' clearly haven't had any. Every time you call they start the entire testing process from the... (read more)

Recently decided to purchase BT Broadband . Everything appeared to go ok until I tried to get the system to connect to internet . I am sure the system would have been fine but felt so let down when trying to resolve problems with service desk and way they spoke to me that decided to return the whole package .Can only really comment on the service desk but as that can be a life line when things go wrong I would recommend you find another supplier . We notified BT that we wanted to cancel the expensive plan (contract expired) we were on, and go onto normal service supply. So without notice they cut off all our telecommunications - telephones, fax, e-mail. The business could not communicate for over 3 weeks. 52 telephone calls and over a dozen letters later, BT said that PROVIDING WE AGREED TO A 5-YEAR CONTRACT on all our lines, they could reconnect within a week, but if we did not agree to that, it could take weeks (= "slamming"). ... If the countless negative reviews don't dissuade you, then create yourself a reviewcentre account and I look forward to reading your "a one star rating is two stars too many" review. Sales rep managed to get my name wrong, btinternet mail account set with this incorrect name, wrong contract start date which meant I would be made to wait an additional month and mis-sold on the package, deciding I needed to be on a package that was never discussed on the call. I called 4 times to get them to... (read more)

Signed up with BT back in January as we were offered an incentive and a decent offer. I wish now that I'd never bothered. Our connection speeds vary from the sublime to the ridiculous, customer service simply doesn't exist and is a running joke. Since January, I've had to speak to BT on no less than 26 separate occasions to resolve numerous issues that we have had with both our internet connections and our telephones. Everything seems to be fobbed off onto other departments with no one... (read more)

I feel completely cheated....when you hand ovefr money for nothing in return....what do you call that? I regret the day I even considered BT let alone signing up to their 'service'. From the day I it was installed my service was super unreliable, I had to reset the router almost everyday....considering there is both a modem and a router to reset, this was a super tedious process. I found that I couldn't rely on access to the internet...I'm currently on a 4 day break, as in it's not working... (read more)

After signing up to BT Broadband on their website, I then had to spend hours on the phone to call centers trying to correct the information which had been interpreted wrongly (for no given reason). This proved impossible (I think they still have my address incorrect). Terrible service for a service which had not even started yet. I was worried. I am now allegedly connected. I say allegedly, as although I am paying for the service, our broadband is currently unable to find the network. It... (read more)

Terrible.
I feel compelled to write this review to warn people just how terrible BT are. I know all ISPs traffic shape to an extent but BT just take it too far. I have 20mb broadband and not once have I gotten speeds even close to that (I leave very close to the exchange too). What's more, if BT even suspect that something I am downloading is pirated, then they throttle my speed to unusable levels of 20/30 kbs. FYI, A bought and paid for game on STEAM is not the same as P2P, sort it out BT....

Rating 1 star is generous. After signing a 24 month contract, i am currently stuck with BT until november this year. So far, every month we have been over charged, including services being added to our account without our knowledge. The customer support is pathetic at best, often talking to people who do not understand the english language.
The service itself, to be fair the phone service is good, not a problem with it. The BT Vision is awful, requiring decent broadband to work, of which we...

I have found BT almost impossible to contact. You are almost always put through to someone else, who promises to get the right person to ring back and never does. Billing is somewhere in the far east who doesn't speak english and/or can't be understood. I would never recommend them, despite being a (very minor) shareholder. Too few people at the relevant chalk face. Management needs to get a grip of the whole organisation. Never mind moving back to BT, I've now moved everything away. For... (read more)

An altogether shockingly bad service. We were so stressed out by BT's apalling service we paid the £470 disconnection penalty (yes £470) to get rid of them. Beware:
-no customer contact once you sign up
-massive waiting times to contact them on phone and hence your mobile bills.
-much higher prices than competitors
-massive download penalties
-you will be spammed with confusing bills every week in the post
I will never deal with BT again.

in mainland UK some people have no choice but to go with BT. I have had MULTIPLE accounts with them both BUSINESS and DOMESTIC and just because of the company's size, are the people of BT allowed to STEAL. what they call 'technical errors', we would call fraud. If YOU were to adapt your ways of business to those of BT's, if you are not a big company and therefore able to get away with it, you WOULD be done for fraud. FACT. Speak to lawyers. BT have problems with this service in almost all areas and certainly sell it customers on false assurances.
Even practical issues like moving home to another BT number in the same area code brings delays and excuses, complete nonsense and like dealing with the GPO in the bad old days. If BT could spend less time trying to sell a new service and instead spen the time delivering on what they have already sold one would be much more likely to continue with BT Broadband; as it is I won't !

BT are working all sorts of tricks with their Broadband. The first is that slow speeds are due to copper wires don't accept this. I was getting no more than 2 meg download and complained. On the third visit the engineer fittted an ADSL socket which prevents the wired Broadband circulating the house, my speed leapt up to 5.3 and has been consistent ever since. BT don't want to fit loads of sockets it costs money ask for one and see your speed improve. Another tip is check speed regularly. BT... (read more)

Really poor customer service. I have never known anything like it. A real challenge to get it set up and my bills were wrong for about the first 6 months. I have a been a customer of Sky (for TV only), Pipex, Bulldog Broadband and the thing that really sets BT apart is the customer service. Lets face it all of them are about the same when things work (because they all run over the same infrastructure!) but when things go wrong or you have exceptional requests that's when it really matters.
