Basically this good for a beginner dj learning to mix or scratch. It reminds me of a PLAYSKOOL TOY but it dosen't hold up as well. The Buttons go quickly like ALL NUMARK Decks. But Beginners can use this (with light use) if it is avail at a Cheap Price. I think the Axis 9 is a Better Model than the Axis 8.

The scratching card in the Numarks are great also they are reliable players. However, after a while of using the Numarks, I found the cd tray starts to become weak causing cds not to load due to power issues. I like the Numarks alot but found they have a number of glitches that could be corrected.

I personally do not have the Numark Axis 8 CD Deck, however 3 of my DJ Partners do. Therefore, i have used and still do use their Numark Axis 8 CD Deck and 9's usually every week. My first DJ partner who has the Numark Axis 8 CD Deck - the scratch effect 90% of the time does not work. My 2nd DJ partner who has the Numark Axis 8 CD Deck - the scratch effect does not work at all. My 3rd DJ partner - the cue button doesn't work. If u were to get systems of this price i would recommend american audio cdi 300. it might not have all the special effects but it is definately more durable and long lasting and are the same price

T his is the second Numark Axis 8 CD Deck I've had and they both have the same related problem. After a year or two they just gave up.and by that i mean wont read a cd wont turn on or just freeze upon turning them on. Thanx numark for eating my wallet up!

Numark Axis 8 CD Deck review - It is very good for a dj that is on a budget and wants something good to dj with. I liked that it had many different FX and that the loops were a lot faster than the axis 4

I am very dissapointed with my Numark. I have had to return SEVERAL axis 8 decks. And as we speak I cannot get one of them to start up. It stays in "close" mode for like 5-6 minutes, then sits even longer trying to cue up. The trays on either one don't close properly (need to shove it in myself), and the stutter buttons are all jacked up and don't always work, and the reloop stutters, aren't working hardly at all either. Horrible! They would be nice if they worked.

This deck ruined Numark's reputation for me. A lot of money to throw away on two decks you can't play out with. Total rubbish! The fact that it's fault is a random one makes it 10 times worse because you can't take evasive action to prevent it from happening again. It can crash, freeze, but more commonly "loop like a scratched record" at any time, several times or just once or twice in one night.
I was on holiday recently in Corfu and came across a DJ with Numark axis 9s and the same thing happened to him. So the Axis 8s and Axis 9s are as bad a each other. I'll quote what he said on the mic much to me and my girlfriends amusement, "Give me a break! If this happens again i'm going home!!!!"
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Here are my thoughts on the Numark Axis 8 CD Deck:
The Good:- It has many good uses. The functionality is good. Big buttons and large pitch control.
The Bad:- IS NOT RELIABLE!!!!!!! This machine has froze numerous times during my gigs. I have sent the equipment back twice and the problem was not fixed. Now I have sent it to Numark headquarters in the US and they are giving me grief about me paying the shipping both ways to get it fixed. I have had it out of my possesion for over 2 months, just trying to get it fixed. The customer service has been ridiculous.
If you have any questions about my review then please leave a comment.

I have had my Numark Axis 8 6 months and so far I have yet to use it properly in the mix, because I am still learning, but it is one of the best toys I have ever bought, once you get the hang of looping, live re-edits are no problem and it will keep you occupied for hours. I know some people would have wanted a more professional review, but I haven't even scratched the surface as far as using this CD player is concerned, and I still prefer to use Vinyl as they are my bread and butter. But all said I have sampled what the dark side has to offer (CD's) and whilst I am still a purist wher Vinyl is concerned, I have gained a bit of respect for CDJ's even though this kit virtually does everything for you, you still have to choose the tunes and put them in the mix. One day it will feature in my sets but for now it's a nice but expensive toy.
