My three year old and I have become obsessed with the tomica blue train set. We play for hours on end. Furthermore, every time we go to the department store that carries this line of product, we are forced to see what they have new. (read more)

It is difficult to insert a new battery into the Tomy Tomica - Thomas And Friends - Adventure Set; I nearly took the whole train apart! xxmagneticxx.....your experience with those sort of toys is all too common unfortunately.
I repair, or try to, lots of battery-powered toys and find that in the majority of cases, it is battery connector problems.
Mechanical failure is inevitable sooner rather than later due to relatively highly-stressed parts such as gears, cogs and bearings being made of plastic.

I wonder if you've approached the retailer because poor Thomas and his mate have gone to the old shunting yard in the sky TOO soon!

Hi, yes I think with "James" the problem has something to do with the wiring because the wires connect the train to the extending carriage that holds the battery - but I don't have a clue what to do! Unfortunately the set and extra train were both gifts so I don't have a receipts. :(

That's a shame. I have a suspicion that Thomas expired from electron starvation and I've yet to fail fixing electrical faults.
Pity you don't live in the Swansea area for I'm sure I could resuscitate both.
