Good Points: nothing
General comments: In my opinion the worst service. I never normally fly with American Airlines, unfortunately I had to fly to India through American Airlines. I got there after 3 days. In Paris they give me hard time. They didn't care about people who miss their flights. I can say only one thing I would never fly with Amrican airlines again.

Our flight was from Boston to Chicago July 15th, 2008. Somewhere in the Chicago airport I lost my purse. ( You women know how traumatic that can be.) In tears I made my loss known to the police and then rushed to catch the flight to MSP. Entertainment options on long haul are worst I've seen and the it was the same choices flying in both directions. The headrest screen was only 75% working, and ironically my girlfriend had the same prob when we flew out, but in different seats. The remote control didn't stay out on mine, it just shot back into it's holder with it's elastic cord. woman's seat in front was broken so it kept falling back to lying down position.
The crew were surprisingly rude.
I'll never fly with them again

I flew American Airlines right at Christmas time and was amazed at how friendly the crew was, even though they would probably rather be home with loved ones. Phenomenal customer service!

We just travelled to Europe and back on AA. Four flights. 3 of 4 were fine accept for a delay. The 4th flight was not so great. That aircraft needs to be retired. The interior was falling apart. A lady near us had to be moved due to her armrest falling off into the aisle. The seats and seat pockets in front of us were ripped and dirty. The best I can say about my First Class Flight is that I got to and from Las Vegas on time and safely, and I got a free pair of ear buds (.99 cents value).

I arrived at NY JFK from Dubai and supposed to take the AA connection to Dallas DFW. After 14 hour flight and 6 hour layover at JFK they told me the flight was cancelled same day early in the morning and they don't even mention that when I checked in my baggage on arrival. In my opinion I believe that AA oversold tickets and then they put a lot of Passengers on the Stand by list. I had a bad experience with AA on my way back from a short trip in Miami when I was waiting in their "Stand by list" for about 20 hours in Airport. I felt lucky when I get in an Airplane and I felt sorry for the People that weren't that lucky as me. I flew from Miami to London Heathrow. I had already heard bad reviews so I was kind of prepared....anyways this was the cheapest I was getting. Having flown with American Airlines on 2 annual holidays (LHR to MCO via Chicago and STN to MIA via JFK) the most recent encounter has convinced me never to fly with them again. Planes delayed, missed connections and apart from one member of their staff based in Miami, the rest of their staff are either unbelievably rude or unhelpful and very much give the impression that the business is run for their convenience and not the passengers. Next time I'll pay more and hopefully get to my destination ...

If the passenger in the seat in front of you recline the seat, you will be in problems to open your table. If you want listen the programs projected in the tv you must buy a pair of cheaper headset in !!two dollars!!. If you are seated in the first lines of seats then you will be lucky to eat the snack but if you are in the last lines of seats then probably not obtain a soda....and be prepared for delays, cancellations or waits inside of airplanes waiting for a gate to disembark...

I flew American Airlines on a chartered flight this past January. They forgot to get a tow bar to push the 757 (plane that rarely flies out of the particular airport) onto the runway until the last minute. This was the first time we have flown with AA. We flew from London Heathrow to Boston to San Juan to Tortola, and back from Tortola to San Juan to JFK to Heathrow. All flights were on time, the crew were courteous and helpful, the meals were tasty and all of our luggage arrived safely. I felt I had to praise this airline because sometimes it just seems the bad experiences that get a mention. No-one thinks to report the good ones. I would definitely use them again. Very impressed!

I took an American Airlines flight from Birmingham, AL to Las Vegas saving a few dollars from my usually exemplary service from Southwest Airlines.
My associate came in the same way a day later
My outbound was ok and just a bit late. No big deal. But my associate was 3 hours late. Mechanical issues.
When we left from Las Vegas flight was 3 hours delayed due to mechanicals and no chance of making connections in DFW. One of their best service people made reservations for us on Delta. Much later ...

I probably saved £200 for a family of 4 booking with AA rather than Virgin, which I spent on 3 nice meals out in NY - definitely worth the bad experiences on the flight out! Would travel again with AA only if significantly cheaper than alternatives.

I think for an inexpensive ticket and for someone that has a lot of time it would be well worth the product, but if you would like no hassles, I would not book my flight with American again.

The flight returning to London had much better cabin crew who were friendly and polite whereas the flight to New York consisted of rude, abnoxious and unhelpful staff. If you chose the vegetarian option for food you were either forgotten about and received nothing or given the same meal twice. The inflight entertainment constantly broke on the filght to New York was fine on the way home. Would NEVER recommend this airline to anybody.
