“The worst airline”

I had my flight cancelled from DFW to LBB I was told there was bad weather and therefore an act of God so the airlines will not be covering my hotel stay even though the next flight is 2 days away and there hasn't been a hint of bad weather in Dallas or Lubbock. My advice find another airline no matter the cost. And to add insult to injury the rep at the desk was rude and unhelpful . (read more)

“Horrible and unreliable”

This airline sets a new low for other airlines. They cancel flights the day of because they didn't sell enough tickets but lie and give you another excuse. They change gate numbers so often because so many of their planes are not showing up when expected that we had four gate changes from upstairs to downstairs each time! “Flight times changed without notification. ”

Booked a flight to NY a month in advance, received my itinerary 6 days later with the wrong flight times. Called AA and requested some sort of accommodations to help me make my return flight from NY and was promptly told that I needed to pay the 200 dollar change fee or go **** myself. I was snickered at, laughed at, constantly interrupted and belittled as well as hung up on by a manager after being told he was 'done with me'. (read more)

The only free thing that comes with your ticket is possibly speech. Boarding from Philadelphia to Manchester I was actually appalled by the sheer fact that no seats had headsets and following shortly after take off was their sale at $5.00 a pair. This was followed by the peddling of credit cards and air miles. I booked flights to Argentina last July and my flight was changed 6-7 times. Along with these changes my preferred seat amounts were changed and American did not credit me back all my money. American Also failed to inform us or my travel agent that a new reciprocity tax had started In January. I was traveling to Cuba on a photography trek. I booked a direct flight from Richmond, VA to Miami, FL the day prior to my charter flight to Cuba. My trip was supposed to be from Salt Lake City to Charleston via Dallas. On the 16th of April something happened with their computers and they cancelled flights. They sent me to Chicago and I was supposed to fly to Charleston from there. But after 1 hour after I came to Chicago they cancelled my flight to Charleston!!! I have never been treated as poorly as I was on my arrival to DFW airport. Upon arrival we were told that we needed to wait in line to receive our hotel and meal vouchers. While waiting in line for over 3 hours, I tried to ask questions about the procedures and what needed to be done to expedite maters. I was told that I "had to wait in line." “Rottweiler encounter!”

After a wndefrful 2 week visit from my son and grandaughter, I drove them to Miami for their return flight to the UK. We went to check in at the First Class desk and were met by a snarling rottweiler, well past her prime and very, very definately, no longer happy in her work. I'm a disabled passenger. I booked a flight to see a terminally ill relative, months in advance. A couple of days later I was advised to bring the flight forward as the relative's condition had deteriorated. In changing my ticket AA charged me £700 over the difference between what I had paid and the current cost of new tickets. They told me the current price was only available to new passengers. Flight scheduled to leave at 0800 and was rescheduled for 0920. Weather was bad in Chicago resulting in 2 hours delay. Airline has no control on weather but when customers have questions gate attendants shouldn't be rude. People traveling get anxious when flights are delayed. Booked a flight with AA and was changed from non stop to 1 stop. Need to be in Reno for important meeting. Hope the flight to dallas and connecting flight to reno go smoothly otherwise meeting in reno will be a bomb. I was given no reduction in price with the change from non stop to 1 stop. In an international flight of 8 hours overnight, all you get for breakfast at AA is a piece of sweet bread and a tiny cup of cheap fruit, what a shame! The flight attendants are so rude that you feel afraid to ask for anything. I have 400 friends at Facebook and I posted to them how terrible AA is, and how I feel about it. We all should do the same. I have been flying for the past 20 years. I wasn't able to book a flight with my wife and daughter on United, so I settled for American Airlines. Amazingly uncaring! Eating at counter instead of helping??? Annoyed by work/duties to serve the public? TWO words...no paycheck! With so many people looking to work, why put up with nonchalant, rude, disrespectful reps? After 30 years, 7M miles and 3.2 AIS miles I have had enough, EXP means nothing anymore. Concierge Key? Don't make me laugh. have been trying for two weeks to speak to an actual person to so i can get the advantage points that are owed to me from previous travel. Finally got one person on the line and they immediately transferred me to another line that was closed for the day. I have been on hold for over 5 hours total and still have not had my issue resolved. I am furious! Besides all this - when I do travel, the staff is rude, and they clearly hate their job. Horrible quality of flight. Flew from Miami to Paris. Had booked BA but got stuck on the AA partner flight. Never flown a long haul that had no head rest monitors, no headphones or by purchase and with the space was non existant. Shocking experience, I have flown on 3rd world country national airliners with better service and experience than AA. I would never fly thins aircraft again. On my flight from Dallas to San Antonio, I met the snottiest flight attendant I have ever encountered in 30 years of flying. In response to my question "Do you have cream?" Disgusted. Left Phoenix at 8:00 am and arrived in Dallas/Ft. Worth on time. We were then advised that the next flight to Nashville had been cancelled due to "mechanical" issues. We had first class tickets flying home from Hawaii. AA changed planes 2 hrs prior to take off and consequently did not have enough first class seats for those having tickets (no-one was allowed to sit in first class (that was fair). My flight was delayed two hours because the crew had not arrived at the airport. The plane was there sitting for two hours with no one aboard or checking the plane. Once we boarded they discover the toilet is broken. The maintenance techs were on the plane 3 times. Spent the night in the airport chairs thanks to their incompetence. Weather delays are one thing, but when they keep pushing your flight back a half hour at a time due to being short a flight attendant and lie to you about it it's another. Flown over 2 million miles with American. Most flights have gone without a hitch always beware of changing your flight as it may cost a fortune - $150 plus whatever the cost is the day you make the change. The best mileage redemption program of any US airline. Many planes are past their prime. I have met disinterested flight attendants and gate attendants. Stay away from them. AA has the worst service I've ever experienced. I booked several trips with them and events happened that caused me to shift 3 flights, two of them with AA. I booked each round trip flight for roughly $180. To change one flight, they wanted to charge me $250 in addition to my $180 between the same locations. One of the worst airlines travelled in the past 20yrs. This is one airline who have seem to have insisted that ´consumer is not at the centre of our organisation'. If you think you find a deal with American Airline prices, think again. You might as well figure in the cost of new luggage into your trip expense. We fly very often but this was our first experience with American. We used our same quality bag that has made it literally around the world without a scratch. I travelled from UK to US with AA. It was a terrible experience from star to finish. It is unacceptable to not have a decent booking system, allow seats to be double booked and have people wait until you find volunteers to give up their seats. People may have arranged flight connections or simply planned their time based on the booked seat, this is total lack of respect!
