Good Points: Durable frame and front shock. Deore LX and TruVativ components hold up well. Neck and bars are decent.

Bad Points: Stock toe clip pedals are relics. Stock tires and grips are blah. Stock Tioga rims are so-so. All have been replaced/upgraded.

General comments: I've owned my Moab 3 for 8 years and covered thousands of miles on both the east and west coasts of the U.S. The bike has been great overall. I've replaced the pedals w/ Shimano 545s, replaced the grips with Yetis and tires with Panaracer Fire XCs, and replaced the rims with Mavic CrossRides.
The front Manitou SX is just starting to show it's age. I'll either service it or replace it.
I paid $700 when it was new and put a few hundred into it over the years. A minor investment for how much return I've gotten from it.
It's one of the last of the era when Schwinn was a respected American-made name.

You should buy one! I like it because you can do some off roading without worrying about anything breaking on it.

I've had the Schwinn 2000 Moab 3 bike for over two years and what a revelation! It's really pulled me into biking and even though there is a lack of trails in my area, I still have enjoyed it immensely. It's tremendously sure footed (or sure wheeled), and offers a lot of confidence to the rider as a result. The components are of excellent quality considering the price I brought the bike for, and so far I haven't had to change much, save for the seat, which I personally found slightly uncomfy, bu ...

Schwinn 200 Moab 3 - I've upgraded to XT brakes and derailers. Next is the crankshaft, then wheelset. I'll be very happy with my setup then. Customize it, then you'll love it.
