I went online and found a cheap quote for my bike, Thinking this looks good I then decided to pay with my card online which was oddly rejected, I called but as it was Sunday I got no reply, So a day later I called and made payment over the phone, Then I realised a few days later my online payment had gone through as well, leaving me with two policies, Surely they should have had details of the online payment before they took more dosh for a secondary one, Talk about a pain getting any... Have been with Motorcycle direct about 1 week now & already had a very rude and abrupt salesman, Telling me, not asking me that I needed to take out extra cover with them. I'm cancelling the policy as I have had a quote directly from Aviva, with whom this policy is underwritten & I have had a better Quote. My excess has been lowered by £400 (read more)

I informed them i had passed my big bike test,so they quoted me 3 times more than anyone else for my new bike. They charged me £68 to cancel(£50 admin fee)+£18 I am 38 and had my 125 insured with them for 4months,in total this had cost me £160 for a 4month poliy with cancelation costs? When you phone your kept on hold ages and passed to different depts with a no care attitude! (read more)

These guys incorrectly put me down as garaging my bike. When I called one day to ask about something completely unrelated and cleared up the fact that my bike was not garaged they cancelled my policy and tried to charge me admin fees. I did not renew with BikeSure as they stung me for £120 last year going down from fully comp to third party. Motorcycle Direct have already proven to be just the same. Buying a new bike they charge £50 to amend the details on the policy. That's a lot of money for a 10 minute phonecall (of which 6 minutes is hanging on hold after going through the computer menu) Well, at least it's not an Indian call centre I think I should add.. I had exactly the same problem with something as small as passing my test and telling them I now carried a full riding license. Of course, I wasn't expecting a discount on my cover or anything, but seconding the avoid recommendation.

had changed my address called them and they said that I had to pay £300 pounds more than what i paid to them first. they said they will have to cancel my contract and then make a new one and that will cost me about 700 quid. A long story short ! I bought a new bike which ended up going back to the shop for a refund after less than 3 months due completely to no fault of my own. I had paid Motorcycle Direct for insurance in full the sum of just over £357. I rang and explained the situation and got offered just a £100 refund ! - and after less than 3 months ! Where do I start? £50 to make a change to your policy. Policy documents that never come. 0844 keep you hanging on number but best of all...... They front load a credit agreement for your insurance if you dare to pay monthly. Meaning if you cancel part way through the year, they charge you £50 for the change, then tell you there is no refund (or little due) Meaning you still owe money. This company is a joke. I have insured my R6 with. Wish I had not. Tried to cancel the policy. After 1 month they want to charge me £50 to update my details. I said I would cancel the policy then. They then said I would get a £50 refund. The insurance cost £200. So I would lose £150. Either way they have me by the short and curlys. I will never go with these again. After nearly 13 years with Motorcycle Direct I received a letter asking me to call them and update my details. The discussion with one of their operators was unbelievable since they stated my current insurers were coming out of motorcycle insurance and that they were unable to offer me a "multi- bike" policy. I was with them these past 18 months (2011-12) and when they renewed automatically they made sure the letters arrived AFTER it was too late to cancell and then wanted to charge more than a year's insurance to CANCELL!!! Subsequenty I moved address. Quite possibly the worst insurance company I've ever had to deal with and I didn't even have a claim!!! I cancelled my insurance 7 days ago as I have sold my bike. I received a letter on 24th January (dated 20th January) letting me know there was an outstanding charge. My insurance was cancelled while I was away from home (don't be away from home for more than 7 days!!). I am away from home a lot and I wrote a polite letter asking for email correspondence, but it was just ignored. They told me they did not receive copy of my license, but I did send it!! so with no real reason they cancelled it and I lost around 100 pounds. Cheap insurance with poor service. Had to make a claim (non fault as well) and I had to do all the phoning around and chasing up. They never phoned once to let me know what was happening. Who knows what it would be like getting money out of them if it was a fault claim. (read more)

This is a very poor company.
I insured my GSXR four years ago and they were rubbish. I swore that I would never use them again.
Unfortunately I forgot about this and used them a comparison web site. Again they were as appalling as before. They may have a lower quote on comparison sites but it should be avoided.

Been dealing with them on phone sorting renewal policy. If you think it is not your fault ask them to get it to manager level and listen to the tapes. I've had problems with the renewal as I had let it lapse and in the panic to get cover 10 mins before they closed a mistake was made, i.e. I was never told the excess was more nor that it was a different company. After calling and the sugestion that the policy was mis-sold it was refferred to Management. I have been kept well informed as to what they are doing etc. and it seems to be sorted,.. I am just waiting for a confirmation call. I will keep you informed. Helpful hint,...stay calm,..chill out,..Hobgobblin Real Ale is a great listener.

We just had a policy cancelled by Motorcycle Direct. They say because my husband inputted the wrong address when purchasing on line. He did not. He could not have done as he purchased by phone and called twice asking what had happened to the documents. When told they had been senty to the wrong address he corrected them but was told this was because their system needs a numerical address and we do not have a house number just a name. We have tried for 3 days to speak to a manager. Each time we start the process again as they loose our details. Frankly appalling service!In the meantime my husband cannot use his bikes!

I purchased insurance from Motorcycle Direct in September 2010. In December 2010 I sold my motorcycle and therefore no longer needed the insurance. I had only had the insurance for 85 days. Having paid £184.02 I received a refund of £41.58. I asked for a breakdown of the charges which they sent to me. Don't bother.
I've had two policies with this company: the first they totally screwed me over on. I paid the full year's premium upfront for the year, yet they said the policy was invalid as a form hadn't been signed which I'd never recieved; there wasn't even a claim being made, I just needed to prove insurance. They had nothing to lose or gain & I ended up with a totally unfair IN10.
The second time they caught me with the auto-renewal at a scandalous price scam a lot of insurance brokers...

Was guided by a price comparison website and filled all questions honestly. £165 seemed like a good price but didn't realise they had confused my car NCB and Motrobike NCB when I eventually got through to cancel the policy I was told I would get a refund of £83!! after 18 days even though the bike has been in for a service for the last 5 days and I didn't pick up the bike until 4 days after the policy started - (10 days on the road!)
Got better deal from Bennett's with no nasty surprises...

Motorcycle Direct Motorbike Insurance has never returned my phone calls, didn't advise on what happens when bike was put into garage for repair. Motorcycle Direct AXA Insurance PLC are very slow at sorting out claims to replace your bike, my accident was on 20/06/04 and I am still waiting to be paid out for the toal write off(15/09/04).
They do not communicate with Motorcycle Direct and that goes for vice versa, if you have an accident you cannot stop your insurance or they require full payment. I bought myself a new bike and asked to transfer the insurance the Excess doubled.
