Good Points: Optical clarity is absolutely superb! Great value for money when you compare them to today's new HD range. They feel really comfortable in your hands and are very stable indeed. They make you feel as though you are holding something very special. I have owned mine for 4 years and still love them as though I bought them last week. Whenever my friends look through them, they are a little jealous due to the high quality. You just cannot go wrong with these. I have tried the new HD models and do not think you'll notice much if any difference! Don't waste your hard earned money on these new ones. It won't be long before Leica bring out another updated version...costing you even more again!

Bad Points: Would be nice if the weight could be about 150gms lighter. Focusing wheel could be a fraction smoother but not an issue.
Sorry that Leica may be phasing these out of production in favour of the much higher priced HD versions. Have used my binos on many wild camping and bivvying weekends and can't really fault them.

General comments: These binos are just superb, as for that 30 year guarantee, well that says a lot about the quality. Customer service backup is top class. Had a minor problem with my diopter setting but was sorted out by Leica. No other problems to report so don't feel confused about sourcing a set of these binos, you will never look back. Build is solid and handling, stability and comfort is superb. Even in cold weather, they feel strangely warm to the touch. I love these binos and they will not be up for sale in these tough times.

The Leica 8 x 42 BNs are first class binoculars - you probably won't find better. I can't fault the item other than having a cheap case and for nearly £700.00 I think they deserve to be protected properly.

However, be careful where you purchase them - Leica don't choose their retailers with much care - Ace Optics at Bath were not much good. Leica just rely on their good name to sell the product and you don't get good specialist advice from this retailer. If you try to contact Leica t ...
