“MANAGER - RUDEST MAN IVE EVER HAD THE UNFORTUNATE TO MEET”

Written on: 14/04/2013 by sunnyshine28

'DARREN' MANAGER OF TIVERTON, ESSO IS THE MOST MISERABLE, RUDEST, GRUMPY OLD MAN I HAVE EVERY MET IN MY LIFE. I AM ASTONISHED THAT HE IS THE MANAGER! GET RID OF HIM, IVE STOPPED GETTING FUEL AND SHOPPING THERE JUST TO AVOID THE MAN. I couldn't pay for fuel as my card was declined ( it turned out that as I had been abroad, fraud protection stopped the payment). I agreed with the cashier that I would return to pay after I had filled their forms, but it would take a couple of hours as I would need to get to a bank. However within that time I received a voice mail on my phone with a threatening message from the station manager. When I returned to pay and speak to him about this, he was rude and continued his threatening... (read more)

“Cheapos!”

Written on: 25/03/2013

I regularly go to Esso for gas, and I use my Visa card everytime to earn reward points. I was checking my statement balance for the month and I had multiple balances from Esso of $100! I only need around $45 worth of gas... They were taking my money almost every other day! I don't drive THAT much! Plus, I wouldn't drive to downtown to fill the tank and then come back to uptown to go again! This is so unreasonable! Make sure to ALWAYS keep your receipts, good thing I do. They previously took... “Terrible customer service”

Written on: 18/12/2012

ESSO petrol stations are just awful. I went in my local Esso just over 20 minutes ago on my moped after school. The sales assistant refused to let me pay for petrol, even after I had just put petrol in to my vehicle. WHAT A JOKE. He could of told me before putting petrol in to the vehicle, instead of letting me fill it to the brim and then not let me pay for it. His excuse was because I am in school uniform he "highly doubts that I am 16". He obviously is a sit at home loser who does not... (read more)

“Motorcyclists beware”

Written on: 23/11/2012

I had regularly paid for fuel at a certain esso garage, it wasnt until recently they started making me take of my helmet before filling up with fuel- they did this by shouting down a tanoid to all of the stations. I removed my helmet when asked, filled up and asked why there were no signs asking me to remove my helmet before filling up, the response i had was 'there are'- there wasnt. Since then the garage has been refurbished, today i go back take off my helmet because of last time, go to... (read more)

“Cheap prices, Great fuel”

Written on: 18/09/2012

Tried all the petrol stations and repeatedly found that esso are the cheapest by a long way. It's definitely not because of the quality of fuel because the petrol is the same if not a little bit better the most of the others. I generally use the the esso brand because the closest station the where i live is a esso and you can tell the are trying to improve all the time and are now in serious competition with BP and shell and in my opinion are winning (well on prices anyway.) “Very fair prices”

Written on: 11/09/2012 by MrTambourineMan (12 reviews written)

I see there are a lot of 1 star reviews by "anon" or people who have only posted once - all a bit fishy for my liking! I'm not here to endorse a big company like Esso - they have the advertising dollars to do that themselves, but what I would say is that where I live - with 4 supermarket petrol stations within 2 or 3 miles - Esso are always (and very surprisingly) the cheapest. Yeap, they are always busy so there are queues - but that is the result of the prices. It would also be fair to... (read more)

“Rude staff and no service!”

Filled up with petrol and paid with credit card. The card reader (not a modern piece of technology) did not read the card the first time and the assistant (misnomer!) barked "Bad Card" I begged to differ since I had had no trouble at all any any other machines. She barked even louder NO! BAD CARD. Eventuially the transaction was completed but I left feeling that by shopping there I had done something wrong! When I went back and told him the car wash was not clean .. he started to get confrontational and smell a bit of alcohol. A better time slot will be after 11pm..

Providing more details: the size of our fuel tank is 41 L, the amount of pumped fuel according to the receipt, was 40.5 litres. As for the indicator, we have just entered the "red" zone, which would mean at least 5 litres left! How could they pump this amount into our tank then? We've tried to... (read more)

for 14 feet around every pump, from the ground, up to about chest height are pertol fumes which will fill the car if the car door is left open, also, the sales assistant cannot clearly see the pump, past your open door, also if the car door is open, it is a possible sign that the customer may be about to drive off without paying. You may say, as many customers do " do I look like the ind of person who would drive off" the smiple answer is that the B*****Ds that do drive off do not have hats on that read "I am going to drive off" These people make the fuel more expensive for all! So Bravo to the sales advisor who was looking after your health and safety and your pocket.

First of all as a former employee for Esso I can tell u although it is very rare mobile phones have caused fires around the world. There is a lot of fuel vapour around pumps and if the vapour recovery system goes down at the pump your phone could ignite a fire and hence during out training this is one point we are constantly told to make sure.

Secondly its hard to keep an eye out on every car specially at busy times while u are serving customers.

And thirdly the reason person asked you to close the door is because its easier to drive off. When a person drive offs (which happens queit often) employees ger a bollocking if they do not have the reg plate...
