    Good Points: The staff were nice and 60s and 70s night not to be missed


    Bad Points: For self catering the kitchens were very poor to say the least


    General comments: Good staff, good measures at the bar, small rooms in need of refurbishment and very small pool, good beach 2 minute walk.

    Had a great week with 5 friends, staff could not do enough for you, 2 of us missed flight and staff organised new flights and transferers etc.
    You are not in the nightlife hotspot here so if it's a more relaxing holiday you are after this is it, Salou is only a short bus/taxi ride away for the clubs or nice walk into the lovely port of Cambrils.
    Try Bar Marius just around the corner a family bar with excellent freshly cooked food,, Sunday roast not to be missed, here you can watch all your Sky ...

    Clean rooms, very friendly staff and good food. Lovely hotel and even lovelier staff. Bad points, no air conditioning.

    We were neither here nor there whilst at Esmeralda Apartments - it's an hours walk to Cambrils / Salou (definitely the place to go). The local bars are expensive and the I thought quality of food is questionable.
    I thought the standard of the rooms was more in line with student accommodation. In my opinion the building itself is in general need of repair as well as the furnishings in the room and downstairs public conveniences.

    What a brilliant two weeks we have just spent at the Esmerelda Apartments. They have got a brilliant team of friendly & helpful staff that go out of their way to help in any way they can. Even before we set off, they phoned us & sorted out what could have been a minor problem with the room. They ran around after us in the bar & taught me loads of Spanish. The entertainment was very good, with Buddy Holly being absolutely brilliant, and worth going to see even if you are not staying at the Esmere ...

    Very good.
    We are 3 young girls and came here last year. We loved this place, the food was good English, the entertainment was amazing and the hotel is metres from the beach, which too was really nice. Very friendly place, nice bars and close to clubs in Salou. We will be back!

    In general we enjoyed our stay at Esmeralda Apartments, and would go back, it was reasonably priced and the staff on the whole were great.
    The entertainment was OK, especially the buddy holly impersonator, by far the best night of the week.
    The bar staff couldn't do enough for us, and were always happy to see us.
    The two receptionists were also wonderful and helpful.

    The Esmeralda is a great base to explore Costa Dorada. You get what you pay for, so don't expect five star luxury. A couple of really good pubs nearby, Esmeralda itself provides entertainment every night may not be everyone's cup of tea. The self catering apartments are not on the beach, but they are just over the road and is in a quieter area than the centre of Cambrillis and Salou, which is only a short walk or bus ride away. But there are plenty of great places to eat nearby.

    The Esmeralda Apartments are a delight, expecting the worst and got the best! While arriving by coach and seeing all the newish hotels with boring, no style/personality apartments (the type that features in "Grand Design" expecting a paradise home and ending up with a house that looks like a hotel), we arrived at a little gem!     This is billed as being in Cambrils, but it is in between Salou and Cambrils. I paid £40 for the room, but I couldn't see £40 worth of stuff in there. The room was small and smelly, and the curtains were burned. There was a self catering kitchen, which I was not brave enough to use. I only ate there once and I regretted it. The entertainment was awful, and at 1am, you are herded outside with your drinks, and they have to be transferred to plastic glasses.

    Everyone was really friendly at the Esmeralda Apartments in Costa Dorada, and the bar staff were fun. The apartments were nice. However, the pool is really small and on the main street. Reception is open 24 hours. There was entertainment nearly every night, but not much for kids. The lifts are a bit dodgy and kept getting stuck.     We have booked to go to the Esmerelda Apartments on the Costa Dorada for the middle of September. It is cheap accommodation, and also cheap Ryanair flight.

    Definitely very good value for money.

    The good things about the Esmerelda Apartments in Cambrils outweigh the bad. You are less than 1 minute from the beach, and you can walk up to 100 yards and get a bus to the north "Barcelona" or the southern resorts. You can also go 15 minutes north or south (by bus) and get a train up or down the coast or inland.

    The Esmerelda is not a 5 Star hotel. However, it is right in the middle of two resorts, clean and tidy, and 1 minute from the beach. A good position to be in to explore the surroun ...

    I read all of the reviews about the Esmeralda Apartments complex in Costa Dorada, and having been there I found that some of them seem a little biased. There was no howling dog or train whistle as it went past at all hours of the night as reported in one review. This accommodation, was for me and my wife, as good as some with a higher rating.     We are 3 nurses who wanted a cheap holiday. On reading the reviews after we had booked to stay at the Esmeralda Apartments in Cambrils, we were surprised not horrified by the Esmeralda apartments. They were basic, but that's what we asked for, as we only wanted a place to sleep. It was clean, and the staff were very helpful and friendly, nothing was to much trouble.     I booked this holiday at the Esmerelda Apartments, in Cambrils, on the Costa Dorada, at very short notice (10 Days), so I accept that I maybe got what I deserved for having not done the necessary groundwork before signing on the dotted line. In fact it was not until 6 days before the holiday, that I came onto this site and got the bad news on what to expect.     On arrival at the Esmeralda Apartments Me and my wife where left on the wrong side of the street by the coach /Rep and told to go in.
    Once in the "Hotel" we where asked for £40.00 as a deposit on our room. We could not see £40.00 worth of things in the room Once we entered the room our hearts sank as to what we had arrived at.

    I could have cried when I saw what was supposed to be my self-catering apartment at the Esmeralda Apartments. It was a very small dingy room, with a cupboard for a kitchen. The floor to the main room wasn't swept, but at least the bedding was clean-even if it was holed and threadbare. The 'kitchen' was filthy.     On arriving at the Esmerelda Apartments all I wanted to do was get back on the coach to go home. The apartment was totally inhabitable, there was exposed electrics in the bathroom, the place had not been painted in years, the gas hob did not work, the bathroom sink was hanging off the wall, the bunk bed had faulty safety rails. The noise from the main road at the front and the railway lines at the rear meant we had to keep our doors shut on a night. Pool was not suitable for a 3 year old child. ...
