I have had the same bangle replaced twice and each time the mother of pearl has fallen out and they replaced it. After the third time I asked for my money back as I'd had enough and I have heard a few bad stories of ernest jones in guildford. The staff I dealt with seemed to imply I had done the damage myself and refused to refund after a month as I did not take out their insurance policy 'platinum cover'. I feel disgraced at their attitude and apparent lack of sensitivity. I've learnt my lesson and will not be returning there.

I purchased my wife's wedding and engagement rings from Ernest Jones - Big mistake.Lots of trouble all the way through. The diamond we looked and purchased did not appear to be the same one that we got back after it had been sent to be resized. Then after 18 months a small diamond shattered and they have said they cannot fix the ring. How a decent quality diamond shatters I don't know.

My fiance bought me a 1.02 carat white gold diamond ring from Ernest Jones in Nottingham. I received it on 29 July (two weeks ago). However, a small part of the diamond fell off today. I wonder how this would happen? I wore it very carefully. I had written an email to IGI to check if the Jewellery Identification Report is authentic and valid but I haven't received a reply yet. My fiance and I will go to the store to ask for a refund on Thursday. I hope they will give us a satisfactory explanatio ...

I purchased a very expensive tag heuer watch as a 40th birthday present for my husband. The watch has so far stopped 3 times, and been back to Tag each time. This last time tag replaced the body of the watch. Each time there is an hour's trip to and from the shop, plus the watch is away for at least 8 weeks. OK this is not soley Ernest Jones' fault, but they have seemed to me excessively keen to prevent me from obtaining a new watch (since I expect this would have a cost to them), and have not e ...

I purchased a 9ct 3 colour gold bangle last August from Ernest Jones. Within four months of very infrequent use, the fastening clasp broke. I took the matter up with Ernest Jones who stated they had to send the bangle away for an independent inspection. They then phoned me to tell me that the clasp had broken due to customer accidental damage! I was so angry and decided to take the matter up with their head office. After getting nowhere, I then wrote to the Goldsmiths Association who were very h ...

My sister and I bought ring from Ernest Jones for my mum's 60th birthday, as she doesn't socialise often and had worn it twice when I noticed that 2 stones were missing at the side. It also looked like the ring was buckling slightly. Took this to the Argycle Arcade shop in Glasgow to be advised by the Customer staff that it was customer damage - that was before they even sent it away to be inspected by a specialist in jewellery! After I insisted that they sent it away to be inspected ( they ...

With three days to go for my wife's birthday and not having much time to shop around, i popped into EJ store at the Gyle, Edinburgh. I mentioned i would like to get the right size if possible but the only ring i liked they didn't have, ready to walk out, i was persuaded to take it and return back and they'll change it. The reason they dont have it in other sizes because of store policy they only hold one size for each ring.
After the birthday i returned with the ring and was then told the ring ...

Bought a ring £500 first year a small diamond fell out - they replaced this - I thought this showed poor workmanship. Another year later another larger stone fell out. They told me I had damaged the ring and cracked another diamond. How do you crack a diamond? I work in an office not a building site I told them. They were having none of it and told me it would cost £260.00 for the repair.

If only I had found this site before shopping at Ernest Jones! I bought my fiancee a platinum band princess diamond engagement ring at EJ and within 6 weeks it had completely lost its shine and was covered in scratches. In short it looked ready to throw away! NOT what we were expecting after forking over the extra money for platinum instead of white gold. Having found this site and the problems other people had with similar rings, we decided to go back to the store and ask for a full refund. We ...

As stated, I have never had a problem with EJ, & I have a lot of diamond & pearl jewellery from them. I've always found the staff helpful & friendly too, with the exception of the lady at Christmas, & she was very obviously new to the job.

In April 2007 my partner and I decided to buy our wedding rings from Ernest Jones, as my partners sister works for them we were able to get a discount. We chose our rings his platinum, mine 18ct white gold. Being somewhat ignorant we thought white gold was a natural substance! We were not told by any member of staff or management that its not natural, it has to be dipped and plated. We married in june and after 4 weeks my ring had gone from new and glittery to very dull and looked worn. Taking t ...

Thanks for these reviews they have been very helpful. My fiance' and I have the same issue with a 3/4 quarat Leo Platinum ring purchased from Ernest Jones. We are about to take issue with Ernest Jones regarding this and will report our result. It would be helpful if someone could point us in the direction of the magazine article that Helenusher mentioned about the alloys.

I inquired about 2 Gucci watches, the sales assistant knew nothing about them as far as I am concerned though.I took my business to Goldsmiths who were more than helpful and much more friendly, you lost a sale of £650. I do not recommend Ernest Jones.

I purchased an Omega Seamaster Chrono from Ernest Jones in Birmingham together with a diamond ring for my other half. Shortly after the purchase the watch stopped working, I contacted the Birmingham branch who sourced a replacement for me to be delivered at my local store in Colchester. A week later I went to collect my replacement watch and indeed was presented with a like for like Omega. It was only when I checked the warranty on the replacement watch that I saw that it was 2nd hand and had ...

My partner and I got engaged on the 17th July 2007. He bought me an 18ct white gold diamond triliogy ring which was a 1/3 carat. I had worn the ring everyday so it endured everyday wear and tear but as I am also an administrator so i'm not hauling around metal bars etc. On the 19th October 2007 after coming back from the cinema I looked down to my ring to find that a singular diamond had been lost from the triliogy. At this I was distraught as we has no insurance etc but after speaking to a frie ...

My husband purchased my engagement ring at Ernest Jones - platinum with trilogy diamonds. I had been sized for the ring previously. After 3 months of wearing the ring it began to go out of shape so i took it back to the Queens Arcade Belfast store, the sales assistant was less than friendly and practically blamed me for doing something to the ring but agreed to send it to get reshaped. Four months down the line the ring started going out of shape again so off i went back down to the store where ...

I purchased an eternity ring from Earnest Jones at a cost of 400. Within days one of the diamonds fell out. I returned the ring and spent an additional 75 on a different one. This one lasted 11 months before again one of the diamonds fell out. I returned the ring to the store and was told it had to be sent away for analysis. The report came back that is was not a manufacturing fault but customer damage. What a load of rubbish. I am still trying to sort this out but their customer service ...

My hubby bought my engagement ring from Ernest Jones jewellers - a platinum band, 3/4 carat in April this year. Within 6 weeks the band had buckled. I returned it to the store expecting a straight forward replacement, maybe even an apology, but instead I received an inquisition - did I catch public transport to work (no, but relevance to the situation? I would hardly be pushing the train to work! As it is I'm a desk bound solicitor who does nothing more strenuous than type on a keyboard...). Any ...
