My husband after 8 years of marriage decided to surprise me with an eternity ring , amazing , however the downfall was purchasing the ring from this jeweller . I didn't feel thd ring was quite right for me so after purchasing last July 2012 and paying £1500 we went back into the Preston store in Lancashire to chose something else . After trying the majority of rings on , nothing was quite right . So we sat down with their in - house design team ' Downey Design ' ( I think that's what they... (read more)

I bought a bangle for my wife from Ernest Jones. It cost a lot of money but the clasp is so poor she cannot wear it without the clasp opening and it falling off. I took it back to get a refund/exchange and the store manager was no help what so ever, and I had taken out the insurance. Apparently they are all like that. Their stuff is cheaply made and the service is shocking. Do not buy anything from Ernest Jones, you will only be dissapointed! (read more)

The bogus damage claim is a well known ploy of Ernest Jones, as is the referral to " customer services" who will of course support all the manager has told you. Rudeness is also what Ernest Jones customers should expect after money has changed hands. Politeness is only for those about to buy. As the watch was your property you had every right to tell the shop manager how you wanted him to treat it. Don' t forget to find ways to tell as many people as you can of your experience.

Ernest Jones has your money so you don't stand any chance of a satisfactory resolution unless you go to the small claims court. Any referral by Ernest Jones to "customer services" or "quality control" or any "shocked" response by the manager are all delaying tactics. Ernest Jones know you only have so much energy to give to this issue and they know that most of their many dissatisfied customers eventually give up.

Ernest Jones "customer services" makes every attempt to confuse and frustrate the complaining customer. It is their intention to muddy the waters so that facts become warped and details that are untrue become regarded as facts. Would Earnest Jones like to try to solve a problem for once rather than delay until the customer gives up? Would Ernest Jones like to reply to any of the many critical reviews on this and other internet sights?

Hi, Rhodium is Rhodium and is not alloyed with any other materials. It is impossible for one company to use a different quality Rhodium to another. Rhodium wears differently, for instance nurses with their numerous hand gels wear rhodium quicker. A gear stick in an automobile similarly wears the rhodium off the bottom of the ring somewhat quickly.
The alloys used with the gold are irrelevant to the wear of the rodium plating. Some high quality white golds are alloyed with palladium, but the majority are alloyed with nickel, including practically every instance of white gold found upon the high street. No high street jeweller discusses or likely knows the alloys used within their white gold, this is not a complaint specific to Ernest Jones.

What people in this country expect is some kind of decent service and they deserve that. As a small working jeweller I see rubbish, bought and repaired at EJ all the time and it makes me sick. They sell jewellery made in the far east at high profit , and frankly , once they have your money, they are finished with you. While I do not condone the service you have received (and quite frankly am not surprised), as an ex-employee I would ask you not to blame the members of staff for pushing you over the "wow" comments. Stores are targeted on the percentage of customers who leave feedback, good or bad, and then targeted again on feedback. Chances are the people who served you were being watched by the manager, hence the wandering around with clipboards (if they were anything like my manager, if you didn't stress the importance of feedback, the staff would be in trouble).
There is, sadly, no point in complaining via these "wow" comments as they are not always picked up. If for future reference anybody wants to complain about being forced into commenting, please write to the head office and get it passed on to the regional managers as unfortunately they are the ones giving stores targets and individual employees little choice other than to overemphasise it to customers.
