I took my son to the Milton Keynes branch of Dr & Herbs as he suffers with acne. They told me that they could completely clear up his skin in six weeks, but to be sure the problem didn't return I needed to pay for 15 weeks treatment.

The treatment would consist of Acupuncture and hot cupping every week, and my son would need to take herbal tea every day, in addition to this he had to take various off the shelf herbal pills to take and other medicines to apply to his skin.

They insisted on the full 15 weeks treatment fees up front (thought that was a bit unprofessional, but agreed). So I paid £1500 and the treatment began.

The treatment room at the back of the shop is very dirty; there is a sink in the corner which looks as if it has never been cleaned.

After six weeks of treatment there was no sign of any improvement, I challenged this with the staff on week six, as they had promised that they could completely clear up the problem in six weeks. I was disappointed that they refused to even answer my questions. It was at this point that I was sure that I was being conned by a very dishonest outfit.
He had chronic diarrhoea most of the 15 weeks, they said this was normal.
He had a chronic allergic reaction to the herbal tea for one week; this resulted in a really bad rash completely covering his body from head to toe. They said they had not changed the make up of the herbal tea, but it only happened this once. This required intervention by western medicine to resolve this problem.
During the treatment he became very weak and listless, usually going to bed at 1830 in the evening and sleeping straight through to morning.
At the last session I was in the treatment room when the hot cupping began, the female doctor picked up a sharp blade to puncture the skin, it was too late for me to stop, but she picked up a USED blade, wiped it on a piece of cotton wool and punctured his skin with it, although there were plenty of NEW clean blades in their surgical wrapping. Haven't these guys heard of HIV and hepatitis?

At the end of the 15 sessions there was clearly no improvement and in fact my son's health has deteriorated significantly. His acne is now so bad that he gets large blood blisters forming which bleed, this happens every day.

My son is 15 year old and prides himself with his fitness and strength. He used to go to Kung Fu lessons three times a week. He has been left so tired and listless by this treatment that he has given up his Kung Fu; this is a pity as he's been going this since he was six years old.

Make no mistake this organisation is only there to make money, not to help people. They have failed completely against all the promises they made. If they had told me that after 15 weeks there may be no visible improvement then that would have different, but they didn't. They promised they could clear up the problem in six weeks and prevent it from ever coming back after 15 weeks.

Brent Cross Dr and Herbs. All they wanted was to get more money off me all teh time. I signed up to a course of 10, 30 minutes masages for £400. All I wanted was a 1 hour massage, but he was pushy and I somehow paid for it in 1 go on my card after being talked into it. Also, next time i came, tried to sell me some tea one week, some pills for stress another, then when I wanted an extra half an hour masage (on top of my 1 hour which I bought in bulk) but would not let me take it from the 1 ...

I went to the Dr & Herbs store in the ARNDALE CENTRE in Manchester to seek treatment for the effects of a head injury I suffered some years ago. Since there's little western medicine could do to treat those effects, I thought maybe I could give Chinese medicine a try and see what it would do for me.

I was given a mix of herbs about not more than 2 weeks supply for £40 which they refused to disclose what they were even after insisting. The bottle they came in was unmarked and I had no ide ...

Dr Herbs, whilst looking in the shop window in the Manchester Arndale branch, primarily to get ideas about a pain i have been having in my neck and upper back. No sooner had i stopped, when a representative pounced on me, inticing an achy shopper for a £5 massage. Yes i had the massage, and it was very good, as i haven't had another massage experience to compare with so for value for money i can not comment. On completion the guy, said i could have a free consultation with the Doctor - h ...

I had a diagnosis from a back consultant that I would need a back fusion if I was to get relief from my back pain... Apart from taking/chewing on pain killers and living like an old woman at 38.. But I am almost pain free. My legs feel strong again climbing stairs and I can again walk around the shops and do things. Also with little no pain killers.

I went to the harrow branch of Dr & Herbs. Some of the comments made before are valid. There is a communication gap about what your paying for ...

Went to the Dr & Herbs Luton branch yesterday with a bad back. Told initially that a consultation and treatment of acupuncture would be £30. In treatment room after removing the neddles, the Dr proceeded to use a suction cup and then pressure massage, but at no time told me this would cost an additional £35. Also l was never told that the cup would leave me with large bruises all over my neck and back. Then l was informed that l would need some herbs to drink at £35 for one ...

I went to Dr & herbs in Uxbridge and sadly would not recommend them in any form. My allergy test was complete rubbish especially when I was down as having insufficient intake of water when I drink 3litres average a day. All allergies I knew I had didn't show up and some food which I never eaten in my life I was told to cut out. It really was a shambles. In addition to the allergy test they gave me some medicine for my ecezema which made no difference what so ever but only stressed me out wit ...

I've been into the Manchester Arndale Dr & Herbs three times now and had the shoulder, back and neck massage. Initially I had the five minutes session then moved onto 15 minutes for the following two sessions. The massages themselves were good and ran for the exact amount of time purchased. The only problem is the level of noise experienced as the shop front is very open. However I found it quite easy to block this out once the massage was underway. The staff were friendly enough but they were ve ...

PAINFUL!!! I went in to Dr & Herbs for a head massage. I had a fantastic one a few years back. Afterwards I slept like a baby and had no migraines for weeks. I went for one at Dr & Herbs and experienced something akin to a trial by torture. I thought he's a dr, he knows what he''s doing. It'll be fine in the end. NO. The mild euphoria I got after the massage was probably due to the fact that it was over. I am very sore now (3 days later), and hope that nothing permanant has happened!

I went to Dr & Herbs in for treatment on my shoulder. Actually I was just looking at their posters in the window and was practically dragged into the store and forced to sit down! I explained about my shoulder and the doctor persuaded me to try acupuncture - quite a feat as I hate needles! The acupuncture was fine and the doctor was lovely, asking me lots of questions and really listening to my answers. Afterwards the salesmen really tried the hard sell with lots of herbal pills etc. and I b ...

I am complaining about the Dr & Herbs, Arndale Center, Manchester

I went there to ask for a tee. They told me that I cannot buy any tea without consulting their doctor before and they brought me to a chinese "doctor" who just spoke chinese and a girl translated him my symptoms. after just two minutes and two questions he started to talk a long time in chinese and wrote things down. then they told me that i need different treatments (just for a flue): acupuncture, chinese special treatment, he ...

Wish Dr & Herbs were cheaper in their prices of their merchandise in line with other leading Chinese medicinal herb stockists. Eager to help you.

Bad points are the price of items... I wanted some advice on weight loss but was only told to buy 2 items. Slimming tea and Selfit tablets. The prices were not on the boxes so when I asked she said tea bags were £10 for a box of 24 and £20 for Selfit tablets for 24. I said I couldn't afford that and she could do both for £15. I t ...

I got mumps for about 3 days. My face grew like a football. I went to the GP but was given only pain killers and asked to go back home till the mumps went away itself. But it was almost impossible for me to sleep and eat. Then my friend took me to Dr. & Herbs in Huddersfield. The Dr. gave me a week powder herbal medicine and the swollen part started to shrink from the second day. And it's all gone after a week.

Never asked me about medical conditions or was there anything I was allergic to before the treatment started. Said I needed acupuncture and also acupressure which costs £65. After the session they said that just one session was not any good and needed at least 10 more sessions, if paid in advance you could have £200 discount, when I said it was too expensive they said oh you can only need 5 sessions!!

Just the assistant could speak any English, the doctor could only speak Chinese! ...
